the whole coke blak phase was hilarious... they brought it out stating it had coffee in it right on the label, then they changed the label replacing the word coffee with caffiene and then it disappeared! my 4 year old's mother still has one of the original bottles with the original label UNOPENED!! that's going to make my daughter rich one day (not to mention the 300+ coke products in her house including the first coke barbie dolls)

Blak is the new black. Sorry, I just had to say it. I actually loved the American version of the Coca-Cola variation. Light carbonation and nice espresso taste. I've had coffee sodas in Spain and Morocco, and it's an easy thing to oder in any good espresso cafe in the US, Canada and Mexico: a shot of espresso, a little sugar and sparkling water. On the cheap, you can make your own Coke Blak by mixing regular Coca-Cola(Mexican Coke is best) with instant espresso or good instant coffee.

I used to ride my bike to the general store in town to buy these as a kid. I loved Coca Cola blak. Heart braking.

I remembered my small town of Bluffton was a trial area for coke Blak before it came out. The bottle looked different than these ones and it had real sugar in it (It tasted amazing). I do believe the cap was still a twist off, but it was metal; not plastic. Then after about 6 months when the full product hit stores, the bottle looked like these and the taste was horrible. Something about it made me very sick to my stomach. Not the taste, but something IN the drink. Whatever the trial version was, I'd like it back. It tasted pretty damn good.

Maybe the trial version was the European version, from what I know American soft drinks have used nothing but high fructose corn syrup instead of cane sugar since the early eighties because the cost of sugar went right up and they sought a cheaper alternative and that does affect the flavour! I believe that the French version had slightly more coffee essence and of course used real sugar so its hardly surprising the US version was compromised.

katakisLives Sugar is expensive, and the US has very little natural sugar resources and cannot afford to import it in bulk. I tend to buy Mexican made coke.

Just made calculations. Average american uses about 100 grams of sugar a day. So that is 100x365x321m/1000= 11 716 500 000 kg of sugar. So that 10 million tons is not covering that, but anyway artificial sweeteners are cheaper. +junkkact

Jajajaj, they follow a marketing campaign paid by coke, since they showed the brand, but Cooper wasn't ashame of just giving his personal thoughts and spitting the beverage in a live transmission. That's what I call an excellent and honest reporter, despite what companies try to do to cheat us.

Anderson had good reason to spit it out - the American version was loaded with artificial sweetners and probably tasted like crap, compared to the Coke Blak sold outside of the States, which was sweetened with sugar.

Hmm, I remember trying Coke Blak in 2006 when they were giving away free bottles of a university campus tour. I really liked the stuff. I guess it's just one of those things you either love or hate. The bottle was great too.

It's funny that they commented about the fact that "A" has that weird umlaut above it, while not noticing that there is no "C" in the word. Last time i checked "Black" is spelled with a "C".

I once heard that this incident contributed to the decline of Coca Cola Blak! such a shame they discontinued it as it was the best Coke variation since Cherry Coke! I think it was never really given a proper chance! the best version was the sugar version from Europe!

Cheech got most of his points by being quickest on the buzzer and getting the easy questions like "what kitchen utensil do you use to baste a turkey". Comedians are sharp people anyway if they are any good at their job. At least Anderson won big on his first Jeopardy apprearance. The cable bews show hosts who've been on Jeopardy from the other news networks have been complete losers. Olbermann and FOX's Gretchen Carlson lost to a comedian, Carlson getting decimated. Chris Matthews lost.

My 61 year old godmother loved that stuff. I thought it was okay. Some speculate that this contributed to its death. I'd blame the crowded market place myself. Either way, its funnier when Regis acts like a senile old man. >.>
