Jordan, Why don't you fit a nice piece of stained varnished wood to save any more damage to your wall?

So you cut a hole in the bottom first. Then you had a nice long extension bar on the drill for the cutter and drilled at an angle. Why not put extension bar through the bottom hole then put cutter on the bar.

As your wall was a test point, why didn't you just fit a nicely stained/treated bit of plywood on stand-offs on your wall with just 4 holes in the wall. Then all the main damaging holes would all have been in a bit of plywood.

Drill one corner hole screw it in .Then place the level on top ,turn the case up and down to mark ,drill and screw in the last three holes

That wall has 2 charger swaps left , it’s held together with red plugs 😂

We spotted them all out and about together having lunch, but we passed their stand a few times as well with no-one there. Hope there's at least one member there all the time this year...

Yeah me, Elijah and Max will be on the stand all weekend this time and on Friday lots of the team will be there. Lee and Luke will be there on Saturday as well.

Why don't they make one with an inertia reel and inertia lock for the cable? Have like a gyro thing with slip rings for the rotating connection?

@@jeffcartwright7270 exactly what I thought the first second. I was like these terminals wont last the test of time. in florescent fixtures these crumble all the time. let alone exposed to outdoor conditions.

​@@SuperJWATT you not heard of IP65 enclosures, ive had mine for over a year and decided to spray my front panel cover to match my car and the terminals are exactly the same as the day they was fitted hense they are with in a IP65 enclosure.

Not so sure my Indra Smart Pro has Phoenix Pla 5 clamp type connectors the live failed after 3 years (2 weeks out of warrantee!!) Luckily caught it before it burnt the control board, 32A bit close to the limit for that connector

@@paulevans5018 exactly, I have 70+ years of electrical experience passed down to me. These connectors fail quite frequently. I would like to see real lugs so the cable isn't derated as well. Those connectors are not even 65 degree c probably. So the conductor would be rated at the lowest value possible.

Does the Anderson provide a long enough cable to hardwire into the VW van ? To extend the range for the long journeys down to local shops 👍

No doubt they are relying on the end user not really seeing the insides, all about how it looks installed. In a static install, nothing wrong with the installation from a reliability and usability point of view. Just looks cheap.

You ought to put some junction box on that wall and perhaps some sort of plate to mount to save that poor wall. Love the London Brick seems a shame to perforate it.

Whats the structural integrity of raw plugs? That wall looked about 80% raw plug

Probably is sophisticated however just having somewhere for your cable to go is worth the extra 20 minutes of labour charged by the sparky imo.

Why didn’t you fill all the holes in before fitting the charger 🤔

Nice looking. But with all the charger and cable thefts, I’d be putting up a stainless lockable enclosure with a simple charger inside.

Welcome back!!! YAY!!! Ahh I noticed you had changed the Charger box differently. What you have tested and compared different models of Chargers. Compare which is best. That would be interesting. I installed a Tesla (silver) that comes with 240v. It was successful and so easy. Thumbs up! Cheers!

Saw your comment and went back to look at the video. It's not a UniFi doorbell but a Ring one the bigger Ring spotlight also backs this up. As for the UniFi Doorbell, I found it fairly easy to wire where I live. The EU one provides a transformer block which you put in your consumer unit. But since I didn't want to mess around with that mine is powered off POE with an inline wireless chime module for Honeywell Chimes. Have a search on KZread for G4 Doorbell POE powered with Chime, a UK based KZreadr did do a tutorial on how to do it.

So glad they are back - stunning bits of kit. Do you know what the big differences are with the A2 and A3 - Andersen seem to sell both in parallel, the A3 is smaller and the latest one, but cheaper. The A2 is more expensive, the older design. Both look great and I actually prefer the look of the A2, but can’t work out why there is a price difference and more importantly why the older unit is more than the newer smaller unit. Any help on the differences would be amazing

I have a question as an industrial electrician in the US. Here in the states we use 240v single phase for residential power, because the phase is split anything that uses 240v uses two hot legs L1&L2. For the circuits that are 120v it’s L1 and the neutral which center tapped in the middle of the 240v transformer winding. In the video the charger says it’s 240v, when hooking it up he says I have my line neutral and cpc which I’m assuming is ground. So are your utility supplies 3 phase and they just run a L1 and a neutral to get the 240v? If so what is the phase to phase voltage?

Yes most homes get l1 + neutral giving 240 v . Some big properties get 3 phase and neutral giving 400 v between phases.

To prevent all the holes in your wall you can use a wooden plate of plywood if i say it correctly. Only four holes to mount it on your wall a bit of paint and you can mount the next charger on the plywood.... and Bob's your uncle although I haven't got a clue who Bob is. But the English people always say that so... ( we say klaar is Kees) question from which coountry am I?

If you want an actual luxurious drill to go with the luxurious charging point you need to get a Festool!

Looks good but sure needs Wago connectors

The Porsche of chargers uses Dacia connector blocks. As with the silly 20mm hole you had to bodge to 25mm, it's a shame they didn't use the downtime to redesign some features that let the charger down. Presumably this is old pre-bankrupcy stock they are trying to clear.

Love the look of the Andersen, but not read anything good about their app which is a huge part of the charging experience! A real shame.

Not asn electrician but seems a lot of fafing about to get the connections in. I would have thought all holes would have been predrilled but as I said I am not an electrian. Looks nice though

Speaking of Fully Charged Live... Would be great if you could cover V2H...

Cable connection was a bit of an arse.... They could improve on it.

In Artisan Electrics...a builder quotes to Jordan how much it will cost to replace the section of wall that has been riddled with plasplugs and countless number of wall chargers that had been hanging on. Will Jordan pay it or offer the builder his electric van as an alternative means of payment? Watch this space....or hole.

Sorry, nice looking, but lacks good quality cage clamp connectors and proper bottom entry IP rated cable entry.

Look at the new OVO charge anytime EV tariff add-on, highly recommend, you need certain smart charger, but it allows you to charge your car anytime for 0.10pkwh
