The forbidden fruit of knowledge casting out the people from the garden. Technology is destroying the planet. The more advanced the closer to the end we become. Likely has happened many times before. The same energy/entity has existed since the beginning and re-emerges every time humanity begins to use the forbidden knowledge. It knows we will destroy ourselves and feeds of the negative energy. It is eternal so time isn't an issue and the cycle continues until there is no planet left.

The habitation and biome of earth could only exist if there were super advanced beings seeding it with life long loooong ago.
