Anchor Points Increased Accuracy with My Compound Bow!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This week, I worked on my anchor points since adjusting my draw length. While everyone may have different opinions on where to have their anchor points, I have seen a lot of improvement in myself with the guidance I have received!

So randoms on YT will tell you not to listen to Chris Bee even those he’s a student of George Riyals which is a world class compound archery coach and founder of Last Chance Archery and built a living off hunting and shooting his bow. Chris is very right, face pressure on compound should be absolutely minimal. John Dudley is phenomenal and is very good at blowing up the nuances of archery to extreme levels. What most people are saying is right, to break through to the next level you want to spend some serious time shooting and anchoring eyes closed/blank bail until you got your anchor down the exact same every time. You need to develop a more consistent and REPEATABLE anchor so they’ll tell you to do things other people do but in reality you just need to be able to do the same thing every time like you say, but you can see from the video you’re having trouble hitting the same spot on your face and same string location. For me what I did was kind of like recurve I turned my bow down and started drawing the string to my face. Instead of tilting my head to the string. Also your DL looks long which is probably putting your hand so far back on your jaw and since the string is across your nose it must be your release strap. Look at Dudley and especially Cam Hanes and how they look at draw with an index release. Hand is much further forward so they can find a spot near their chin or mouth that is much more sensitive and easy to repeat. Good luck bud! Keep shooting!!

Thank you! I like you talked about repeatable anchors. I definitely have a lot of work to put in but I really am appreciative of comments on things to remember and getting more info on where to look

Shorten up that release so you can wrap the second pad of your finger around the trigger. You are punching it clearly. Try and get that index finger wrapped around the trigger - and pull back slowly to activate a surprise shot.

I’m grateful that you noticed this as well. I didn’t quite understand what punching the trigger was and I spent the next few weeks trying to get more consistent. My last video I tried to get better at not punching the trigger so if want to see if it was better, I would appreciate the feedback. You've made excellent progress, but you're still punching the trigger with the tip of your index finger. Tighten your release strap 1 hole so it doesn't slide so far forward, or shorten the release shaft another 1/4". You'll get a more consistent anchor point if the back of your thumb is actually nestled right behind your jawbone under your ear.

Are you meaning like just closer? Would paper tuning practice help?

Back your poundage off , get closer work totally on form ... ( also you have no consistent pre-shot routine ) your finger needs to rest on the trigger...archery is about consistency.. Chris Bee is not the guy you should be following...John Dudley ( nock on )

I can completely agree on my form still needing work! I do have a question, why do you prefer John Dudley over other sources from KZread? I mean, even John brought younger professionals onto his show.

And if you could drop a link to a video for me to watch on pre shot routine, I would love to learn on how to fix my initial form!

Dudley is just better at "teaching" his whole platform is about making you a better shot. I don't agree with everything he says. Chris Bee is more commercial and selling a variety of products.
