anbernic rg35xx + scrolling stutter with 2024 firmware. Don't use the stock os!
scrolling stutter with new anbernic 2024 firmware
Tested with rg35xx + (fw version: RG35xxP-20231212) and rg35xx h (fw version: RG35xxH-20240222)
no scrolling stutter with old firmware V1.20231108 on the rg35xx +
old rg35xx (without +) also without this issue
I own several rg35xx +/ h models and tested them so far.

UPDATE: stutter doesn't occur anymore with the new firmware version from June 15 2024, IF a few adjustments were made. "threaded video" set to "off" (output>video>threaded video) and shaders enabled Keep in mind, that these settings are recommended for older console systems up to 16 bit, but might crash with newer ones like psp/ ds/cps, so use them core specific and not system wide. I also recommend latency>preemptive frames set to 1 for lower input lag
I have a Rg35xx 2024 edition and as soon as I booted up a game I noticed how terrible the screen looked and how “slow” the games felt. It felt like the monitor was lagging behind and I almost wanted to return it, but I figured it was probably because the stock OS was terrible. I’m on MuOS now and the picture quality is now crystal clear, boot times are fast and gameplay is good.

Ironically anbernic doesn't provide the old functionable firmware anymore, so they want the user to stick to a choppy gaming experience? Luckily muos and batocera fix these problems, but how about shader support and features like "runahead" etc.?
Wow, thanks for sharing this!
Taki Udon mentioned this in one of his recent videos. Apparently one of the custom OSs has patched it but he didn't specify which one.

It's fixed with the new stock os, but a few adjustments are required
I picked one of these up today, as i didn't want to take one of my retro consoles on a trip. Pretty disappointing seeing the stutter, mame games didn't seek too bad. But it's really apparent on megadrive games.

I've tested muos and it runs way smoother, just replace the stock os!
I've got the same problem when playing pokemon Crystal or yellow. Sometimes it's stuttering and that's just so annoying. I've got the newest stock OS. Shouldn't the newest version get rid of this problem?

On github, search for pinobatch 240p test suite mini. But you don't need it for demonstration, it's just one way to show the irregular scrolling. Btw. you can alter the scrolling speed by pressing up/down within the scrolling test. Would like to see a BIG Video about this problem, 'cause noone is talking about it although it makes the gaming experience extremely choppy, anbernic should fix that. (And they should reintroduce shader support)
