Love your review! I found you on KZread through your collaboration video with Brian Rowe. I gave this film 9 out of 10 stars. Unlike you, I was glued with court proceedings. I found that very intriguing to me because they have a different justice/court system compared to the United States. And I love Sandra Huller's performance in this film! You are on point 4 months ago for your Oscar predictions for this movie!

I hope you didn't go into it expecting a typical murder mystery as you would be likely to be disappointed. It is, however a fantastic movie.

It was a solid feature, but I guess I wasn’t floored. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an excellent film overall, but there were some pacing issues and the cinematography wasn’t amazing, mostly good minus some shots that looked a bit sloppy that could have been trimmed and tightened up. The prosecutor annoyed the hell out of me. Milo should have gotten nominated alongside Sandra, but supporting actor category notoriously has been resistant to child performers in this century. I want to say that the last one was Halle Joel Osment for The Sixth Sense. There have been great supporting actor possibilities and potential nominations, but usually overlooked.

Yeah, I actually do agree a lot with what you said. I recently re-watched it. The elements I liked, I liked even more. The court portion of the film still dragged on for me, even if there are a few exceptional moments that really popped out. I still liked it a lot, but I think a tighter version exists that could have made it even better. And I agree completely on Milo. He's exceptional in it. Cheers! Thanks for chiming in!

I’m hoping it gets for Best Picture. France didn’t submit it for Best International consideration ( I think they’re putting all their effort behind The Taste of Things).

This movie suffers from being another needless gender swap. If you swapped the wife character with the husband character and changed the main characters lawyer to a woman you could literally have the exact same script and it would make much more sense. Oof
