Anatoly Karpov vs Eugenio Torre
Platja d'Aro (2018), June-29
Bogo Indian Defense (E11)
A small town in Catalonia's beautiful Costa Brava has welcomed four renowned chess players from the past. Anatoly Karpov, Ljubomir Ljubojevic, Anatoly Vaisser and Eugenio Torre are playing a unique rapid and blitz tournament in Platja d'Aro. David Llada sent some very nice pictures from the singular Legends Tournament.

Eugene Torre is from another generation and there is no doubt he would have been an elite player like Wesley So had he been in Europe or the USA. Mind you, he played in all of 11 rounds in Baku Olympiad 2016 registering 9 wins and 2 draws without any loss to score a whopping 10 out of 11 points, earning him the bronze medal on Board 3, which incidentally was won y Wesley. All these years, the criteria used is performance rating instead of the old percentage result. Had it been the latter criteria, Eugene easily tops Board 3 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
