Anathema - Internal Landscapes (from Internal Landscapes: the best of Anathema's Kscope years
Listen / Order now anathema.lnk.to/InternalLands...
For I was always there
And I will always be there
A 13-track journey through the best of Anathema's Kscope years
Feat. "Thin Air", "Untouchable", "Dreaming Light" and "Springfield"
“The band isn’t just a way of life, its been much more than that. To us, as a family, writing music of such honesty, and reaching people who feel it similarly, is as profound an expression of art and life as its possible to be. People have said to me it must be cathartic to write songs like this. I often say the real gift is in the people I do it with. For what we share and what we mean to each other when all is said and done.. The landscapes are internal”
Daniel Cavanagh
This collection, curated by the band, selects the best works from their prolific output on the ground-breaking label Kscope since 2008. In this time the band left their heavier roots and transcended into emotional heaviness that resonated deep within the heart of the listener. It takes its name from the band's perhaps most heartfelt song, from their most popular album of the period, Weather Systems.
Selected from the albums: Hindsight, We're Here Because We're Here, Falling Deeper, Weather Systems, Distant Satellites and The Optimist.

    My coworker who was a very good friend of mine died two months ago while she was on vacation with her family in a terrible auto accident where she drowned in a river. To this day I was and still am devastated by her untimely and unforeseen passing. This song has given me comfort since then knowing she was embraced by the same experience that this man felt moments after she met her fate. Rest in peace, work bestie, for you will always be in my heart and remembered forever.

    This whole album makes me feel like they know my souls words but this song in particular when I had my few Nde's I never saw my body I was just in the light and I was warm and just felt love. Then and Indian man with long Jesus like hair came through the light and took me to place where it was like out doors and I just felt I knew everyone there like several hundred people sitting around in the country playing footy having like a family day picnic and I legit just knew them all even though I cant say I remember anyone in particular right now. It wasn't a near experience I was very much there more really than any dream ever... Everytime I come back to this album I'm there again thank you for your beautiful music ❤

    I do not know if you ever read this message but I wish Dan the best. I wish in his internal wanderings, he'll get his beautiful landscapes. Those ones that also connect to beauty of the life, of this one way incredible journey. His sensibility has created, thanks to also the collaboration with others beautiful souls, something that will last forever. Something able to touch human soul, artworks that healed, still heals and will heal in the future millions of people. Giving them peace and a kind of a warm embrace. There's a whole world to discover, to explore. There's a lots of people who loves him and cares about him. Wish Dan a way back soon to innerpeace, happiness... May the miracle of life takes his hand and steps together with him towards the beauty of this Planet and of the people surrounding him. Huge hug, thanks Dan for what you've created with your talent

    I dont really feel they transcended to an emotional heaviness for some emotions arent nearly as well described or emoted without the harshness that heaviness adds into the music. In many ways this band has lost the very emotion which drew me to their early work. What pain truly felt does not make us want to scream into the face of the empty pit it leaves inside of us? What anger can be expressed without losing oneself in a bestial scream? This band has only cheapened the emotional experience it had once offered and it's a damn shame.

    And that is your opinion. There's no objectiveness in this matters. And I think you're wrong on what you're saying. Good luck with that.

    @@lucasfranco5292 No there is an objective stance here. By eliminating or subduing some forms of expression you create artificial barriers which impede such expression. That's just basic common sense. Screaming and growling are well known methods of emotive expression. People commonly scream when suffering from extreme emotional anguish or anger. That is a fact. By eliminating such expression within music you limit and restrict what and how you can express various emotional states. That isnt some subjective stance, but rather an objective reality. Whether or not you enjoy that or like it, or prefer it really have no bearing on it being a reality. The full gamut of human emotion and expression include screams and growls, limiting such expression to more melodic singing just subdues what can be expressed in music. And that is an objective stance. Unless of course you are claiming that people dont commonly express extreme emotional states through screaming or growling. Which is completely ridiculous.

    @@sliegromb186 There's plenty of emotions, especially sad and darker ones, that most people don't associate with bestial screaming or growls. I love those parts too in some music, but in this song they would definitely feel extremely out of place. "Extreme emotional anguish or anger" can manifest in much subtler and more muted ways than screaming.

  • @sliegromb186

    @sliegromb186

    @@RavelKhay Which they completely failed to do on this album. And I disagree, when you have extreme emotional distress you can't really express that well in a muted fashion. There comes a level of emotion which can only be truly expressed through a scream of a growl. Less expression is just not genuine and is lacking any real substance. It's why I feel later Anathema kinda sucks. And no such lyrics would fit in perfectly well in this song. I have heard many bands do exactly that and it is even better.
