Promo video for Untouchable (part one), the opening track from Anathema's album 'Weather Systems'. The video which reflects the themes created in the album was editted by Lasse Hoile, the acclaimed director and filmmaker, best known for his work with Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree.
The bar for Weather Systems has been set pretty high with 2010's 'Were Here Because We're Here', but Daniel Cavanagh from the band is certain that the album will exceed these lofty expectations, 'it feels like we are at a creative peak right now, and this album reflects that. Everything from the production to the writing to the performances are a step up from our last album.' He continues, 'This is not background music for parties. The music is written to deeply move the listener, to uplift or take the listener to the coldest depths of the soul.'
The intertwining melodic structures, the profoundly beautiful and intensely powerful - yet simple - songs will transport the listener closer to the heart of life, that is to say, to the heart of themselves. It is also an album of polarity. The play of opposites; light and shade, birth and death, love and fear. The simple truths of life and loss, hope and strength and darker internal themes are all explored here.
The album was recorded in Liverpool, North Wales and Oslo, each place significant to Anathema past, present and future. The record was produced and mixed by 5 times Norwegian Grammy nominated Christer-André Cederberg (Animal Alpha, In the Woods...), who Daniel has described as 'a revelation. His calmness and brilliance has helped to bring about the greatest inter-band chemistry that Anathema have experienced together in their career.'
This career stretches back to 1990 when the band formed in Liverpool. Since then the band have embarked on a remarkable musical journey, initially emerging as pioneers of melodic heavy music and continually evolving over the ensuing years, always remaining true to their original goal of creating forward thinking, meaningful, passionate and honest music.
Anathema are a collective of two families; brothers and childhood friends. This album will please fans who call for more of Lee Douglas's vocals, as her role within Anathema's brand of alternative, melodic rock has matured to become an integral energy. In this way and more, Weather Systems is the sound of a band finding their voice and growing in stature, moving further along their artistic path with a truly stunning musical vision.
Their best ever work? 'Not yet' says Daniel, but he does believe that with Weather Systems they have surpassed previous glories; 'we are pleased and proud of the record and we feel that, alongside the best moments of WHBWH, this record contains our very best work so far in what is becoming a long career.'
Praise for Weather Systems;
'It is truly majestic, heavenly - Is it another masterpiece? Of course it is.'
TERRORIZER 5/5 (Album Of The Month)
'Anathema continue to make music that glows with meaning and a love for art's external powere to touch the soul. Still special, increasingly extraordinary; the band and this album will be cherished.'
CLASSIC ROCK PRESENTS PROG
'Anathema just might be England's most consistently brilliant rock band of the last 15 years, with Weather Systems serving as yet more, unmitigated proof.'

i sometimes have to skip this song when it comes on shuffle because im not in the mood to feel emotions
I love this!! specially this part: I`ve never betrayed your trust I`ve never betrayed your faith I`ll never forsake your heart I`ll never forget your face
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life. After I listened to this track for the first time I listened to it (with part 2 as well) 25 times in one single day, then continued to listen to them for months at least a couple of times a day, usually with the rest of WS. And I'm not finished yet. Experience them (and the other songs as well) live in Milan last april was absolutely extraordinary and this video is wonderful too, I think. Thank you Anathema for all this awesomeness!

agreed! i can't get over it, can't get past it. and it just keeps playing in my mind.
this should be Anathema's best release yet. They've literally taken the formula that made We're Here Because We're Here such an excellent release, and supersized every part of it. The epic, uplifting melodies are back and bigger than ever, Lee Douglas' vocal role has increased exponentially, the orchestral element is more prominent, the tempos are more diverse and Vincent's vocals are more dynamic. On paper, this should easily lead to the same kind of musical leap that We're Here Because We're Here took when compared to A Natural Disaster, and it almost did. The increased emphasis on the previous release's biggest elements has allowed Weather Systems to be easily consumable and instantly memorable. It has also lead to the back-to-back gems of "Untouchable" parts one and two. These two songs are almost literally the embodiment of everything that made the previous album so damn good, and they're undeniably near the top of the band's material. The initial part features an excellent cyclical guitar melody, emotive vocals from Vincent and Lee, an upbeat tempo and a big closing. Part two slows the tempo down and replaces the main guitar melody with piano and keyboards, but otherwise follows the same formula. It, too, is based on a solid melodic foundation, exceptional vocal harmonies and a slow build towards an eventual climax. The problem is that just about every subsequent track follows that exact same formula, eventually causing the album to feel more sterile and less genuine than We're Here Because We're Here.

I just lost a very dear person to my heart and I listened this just after the funerals on the road… i loved it immediately and thought to her ❤️❤️ it will be her song now. I miss you.
I totally adore this song, gives me so much emotion..."there's a feeling that I can't describe..."

lol..... this song is when a great band like anathema looses its oils, its essentials, it's excactly what happened to metallica after 2000....in other words, dig into anathema's past and you'll find more feelings, this is them saying they're emotionally bankrupt
Such a stunning track; brings a lump to the throat and a tear to the eye

+Nathan McIntyre I can now because I know exactly what this song is about. It is about the raccoons at The Paris Regional Medical Center in Texas that are being tortured and one of them was my pet that was taken away because they are killing with telepathy and I will never see him again. They replaced him with the one they were calling Deet here but I gave him a new name and he had scars all over him and cigarette burns from where he has been tortured by them. The name of mine was Lucky and he has never been Lucky because of them and he can predict natural disasters.

Danny thank you so much for the amazing music. I've been a fan since Alternative 4 and I'm still in love with your music even with the change in direction. The last two albums, Weather Systems and We're Here Because We're Here, are just perfection. My huband and I played two of your songs at our wedding last year. I walked down the aisle to Dreaming Light, and we walked out as a married couple to Thin Air. I can't wait to hear what you do next!
This song is... the “Jupiter Symphony” of Anathema. It makes me remember all of their earlier songs and beyond !
MUST STOP WATCHING THIS VIDEO! I just can't control myself... today is looping day for Anathema.

I want more music like this!
The video is amazing and the song is just beyond description..
This is amazing, true, real, encompassing and overall a perfect album. I'm so glad you made this album Mr. Cavanagh. it gives me new found hope every time I listen to it!!
Truly amazing song, Anathema's music has definitely played a motivational role in my life.
I think the music is true, has heart and soul and is filled with passion. Life is change and sometimes you just can't have the music you first fell in love with. So fall in love again.
Always Shine!
playing Anathema's songs in a wedding ! .. some faith in humanity has been restored
I love this song and the whole album. Really helped me get through a bad time I've been going through recently
Danny, Anyone who can listen to the music you write and fail to recognize immediately its loving sincerity must be either deaf or dumb. Here on KZread, it's a toss-up. Thank you for everything you have given us, especially Weather Systems - and for engaging with your fans. I'm honored to have chatted with you last year in New York and, before that, in Milwaukee. Weather systems totally floored me and I hope you return to the states soon!
It has taken me 10 years to warm up to this song. It will never be a big favourite, but i don't have hate for the album, I had but then I dont have the leather trench coat or my hair anymore haha.
Seriously! This may be one of the most heartstring pulling songs I've ever heard.
A friend sent this to me over the weekend..maybe my true love awaits. Excellent song
this song touches my untouchable sides
Love from India . ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can't wait to see them live again ^^

Beautiful!!
I love this great song and I love Anathema, thanks for you music!
Love the Band since 1993.... This Song is amazing and the music and video matches perfectly 😊
LOVE THIS!!
Thank you for your music, really!.. It's amazing.. all your songs, from A Fine Day To Exit to Weather System, talks about me, my feelings and my soul. In milan was great! Now I wait for Turin, in October!
Sometimes I think, Anathema write their songs especially for me... Every single word of the lyrics express exactly the situation I am in right now... Thank you so much!!!
Anathema simply is one of the most emotional bands around all over the world..I said this to Vincent the first time I've seen them live
Thank you Anathema!
Well said! Write what you feel and what you want!
przepiękny utwór, delikatny i energetyczny zarazem...
Incredible landscapes! You have traveled us to places really indescribable! Come back this year to Greece! We love you Danny!
Heart changing,life changing.
Simple and brilliant. No, simply brilliant.
Wonderful.. this video is growing together with the song! absolutely brilliant! Anathema and Lasse Hoile, pure genius.
just want to say i had heard of anathema before but took a while to listen to them, after my friend brought me the new album I can say this music is some of the most beautiful and awe inspiring music I have ever listened to, it chills me out beyond belief and has made me relax more, cheers danny and crew for gaining a new fan
Its amazing.
Untouchable and amazing!
I have just rediscovered Anathema's music and am totally immersed in We're Here Because We're Here, Falling Deeper and Weather Systems. All the words and music are so heartfelt and emotional, it touches me deeply. It's helping me a great deal with the loss of my Dad earlier this year, what can I say - thank you so much Danny and the band for such life affirming music.
THANK YOU! very much for the great music the band have given us through all the years, I've been a fan since the doom days and the "evolution" the band has done has been amazing. The quality of the music has always been there, developing more in every new release. Hope to see you guys someday in South America (Venezuela) please. Cheers Danny & rest of the band. Keep doing music FFS!
we love you just like you are however you are and whatever you do, despite all the fading changes you've made till you've come to this, you kept us with your same mood and you give us the same chilling feelings at all times with every album.
Thank you so much for this great, a great masterpiece!
Essa música do Anathema é incrivelmente linda ❤
Stunning
Since Serenades you've kept surprising me. I don't know what is your "magic formula" neither I want to know...but let me dream, a dream in which I had 1% of your talent in songwriting, The world needs you guys, I need you. I wish you all the best. Shine on!
Sorry, I'll speak in french because I don't know how to explain. See you October 27th @Vauréal !
Thanks Anathema for such an awesome song
Anathema were a great doom metal band but a even greater progressive rock band. One of my favourite bands of all time. ..
I listened to this album partially to deal with my dad s death. They wrote it after their mom passed. I can't listen to it more than once every few years because it takes me right back to those horrible months
I just bought the double vinyl of this record. I only buy vinyl of albums that stand out for me. This is one of those albums. Beautiful.
Kscope is just so awesome! I mean, Blackfield, Porcupine Tree, AND North Atlantic Oscillation! Seriously, it's badass!
Quelle fabuleuse mélodie ! Très grand groupe 😊
I can't shake the goosebumps...
A masterpiece !!! old or new song of ANATHEMA is fantastic.......
Thank you Danny, for making such a pure heartfelt music....i love all the anathema's music til date even though the style must have changed but Ive always felt connected somehow with ur music and lyrics...whether in sadness or hapyness and it keeps me alive in both ways...:) There might be zillion of bands who plays and writes better than u guys but for me i nvr felt so connected and touched with other's music....... I love u guys unconditionally...please come to india and meet me as well :)
True art comes from the emotions...and in my opinion Anathema is pure emotions. As far as the last two albums are concerned - It's like they reach the entirely new dimension in emotion, music...energy... and I'm amazed by it. Besides, your music has always been an inspiration to me. Thank you.
This is beautiful, beautiful stuff of dreams. When i first heard Eternity after the silent enigma album, i already knew progression was in place. What i could never have guessed was how sublime that progression would be. After every album, i'd sit there shaking my head thinking, there's no way they can top that. 17 years later i'm still shaking my head in disbelief. Sometimes, a tear accompanies that epiphany. As was the case with "Deep", "electricity", "violence", "dreaming light". And now this
I must express my gratitude for your works! Your musical prowess continues to astound me and MANY loving fans from all over the world! I'm absolutely amazed the artistic direction you guys have taken over the last few years. You've taken your previous expectations and exceeded them a thousandfold! It is an honor to have experienced this ethereal beauty..This may have very well ignited a scintilla of passion inside that I thought was long lost.. Please never stop creating! :)
i get goosebumps. love uuuuuuuuuuu Anathema
Beautifule song, touched my soul.
great song....reminds me about the last summer...
