Her stage presence amazes me. She looks very commanding. And her jumps are big! I wonder if Vaziev ever considered to recruit her to the Bolshoi.

She really gets into the role, dancing, not just getting the step correctly.

I wonder why she didn’t win gold. It could be because all her variations she has already performed many many times already with Vaganova, Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky. She’s playing safe. Maybe the judges wanted something more surprising from her.

She didn’t win gold, which means she did not stand out from everyone else. Since nobody won gold, nobody stood out in the competition. My theory is because all her variations are done by her many times before and is not new and daring enough.

she has not even debuted as O/O yet so I think this variation is quite daring already

@@enokxyi this variation is done by many dancers in the competition. It is all about jumps too. She is not daring. Had she done Odette, it would be daring.

I don't know why she didn't win gold, but here's some context for why so many dancers here chose odile, because I thought it was kind of interesting: for the third round, solo contestants had to show two variations: one from a repertoire list of grigorovich choreography, and one free choice. anastasia's repertoire choice was odile, and her free choice was carmen. the repertoire list was this: - odile act 2 variation - gamzatti act 1 variation (not the common gamzatti variation that you would think of, with all the leaps, but one that you don't see in most productions of la bayadere) - masha act 2 variation (but the grigorovich version, which isn't super common either, and also much harder than the "common" one) - rita's variation from the golden age (not a common ballet at all) - shyrin's variation from the legend of love (also not extremely common, and a bit of a unique/quirky variation) - raymonda act 3 variation (the clap variation) - mistress of the copper mountain variation from either act 1 or act 2 od the stone flower (also not a very common ballet) ekaterina varlamova chose rita for her repertoire choice, and malika yelchibaeva did raymonda (she had already done a different odile in round 2). every other contestant in senior women solos chose odile. as for why odile, I can only assume it was because it was the most common variation on the list along with maybe raymonda, one they were most likely to already know and understand even if they hadn't debuted the role before. it's probably also the easiest one to express, since everyone in that audience knows what odile's character is. on that list, only odile, raymonda and maybe masha are the "common" ones. maybe odile won out because it's common enough for most to know, but also extremely technical with lots of difficult tricks to show off with. the funny thing is that the juniors weren't required to dance from this repertoire list because of concerns that the choreography would be too difficult for them, and yet they made much better use of it than the seniors. we saw every single variation on this list from the juniors except the gamzatti one. no two girls had the same variation except kamila sultangareeva and alicia pak both doing the mistress variation, as compared to nearly every woman in seniors going straight for odile. so you could definitely be right about the judges being disappointed about the lack of range, but at the same time I think it's understandable that the contestants wanted to show their best and thought that odile would be the best way to show it. but it does make me appreciate those who chose the rare variations a little more. :)

As much as Russian dancers are always my favorite, she's... not the best. She tries to make up for lack of musicality with extreme extensions and leaps. She's like a rhythmic gymnast, with pointe shoes instead of hoops and balls

I’ll be honest, not the best one of her. I liked her in Carmen but her arms are really bad in this variation, unfinished and not swan like.
