I ended up pairing a canon FD 35-105 with my Blazar Nero. Shooting APS-C 4K on my Lumix S5IIX produced a stunning look. The main downside here is size as you need to mount the nero on rails for the least vignetting and CA. This is definitely an option for anybody looking to shoot on a larger format than MFT.

The Nikon AI-S might also cover Super 35/APS-C but the zoom range and macro function of the FD is why I chose that lens

@@duffnolan08 Hey man, I also have the Lumix S5IIX and have been looking into getting the same set up as urs as well (canon fd 35-105 + the blazar nero adapter.) How are your experiences using it? And have you ever tried shooting full frame with this set up? Obviously there would be heavy vignetting on the wider end but if you want to shoot ff, how far would you have to zoom in for it to cover the full sensor? Thanks!

@@bobewu9959 Great questions! The way I have it mounted with rails isn’t perfect, but it works well enough. I usually need to stop down to 5.6/8 to get it really sharp, but is still usable at wide open. As far as coverage goes, the zoom range fully covers C4K (aps-c), 5.9K clears ~55-105, and 6K open gate covers ~70-105. I will likely be uploading some test shots in the next few days measuring sensor coverage. I’ll keep this thread updated when I post it.

Awesome video! One comment I have is you can remove the vignetting even more by skipping the step down rings and mounting your Nero on rails. You can get the two pieces of glass just a bit closer to each other. I’ve used that setup to get away using lenses with an OD far larger than 52mm.

How do you mount on rails? I have bought a couple lens supports for the Nero but have t been able to find anything good to attach that little support foot to - any recommendations?
@duffnolan08

@@samuelguce I would say I’ve come up with anything sure fire, but I have something that works. I ordered a lens support from small rig and removed the “v” support piece. You should be able to connect the mini support from the Nero to that piece. Im happy to share photos if you’d like!

@@duffnolan08 ahhh interesting! nice idea - Is there any problem with scratching when the adapter is up against the lens glass?
@duffnolan08

@@samuelguce it’s definitely something you need to be mindful of. You could put a small piece of foam tape on the adapter to avoid touching
