analyzing my goodreads challenges to see how my reading taste has changed
This is a bit of a different video where I deep dive into Goodreads to analyze how my reading taste has changed throughout the years, but I hope you enjoyed it! It was fun to look back at previous Goodreads challenges to see how much I've changed as a reader and what influenced me, throughout each year.
I hope you enjoy! xx Olivia

This was a great concept and I appreciated your candor while looking back at your reading evolution as well as your memories around your readings; it's inspiring and I hope that other BookTubers will follow suit (I've seen maybe one other BookTuber do something similar to this?). It's also something that I will need to try out for myself.☕📚

😂Something similar happened to me in 2015, we read a lot of the same books 📚 reading whatever people recommended without giving it much thought..

I loved watching this! It's so cool to see the visual representation of how you evolved as a reader. It's also interesting for me to see when you read the books I see you recommending often now, and the ones I picked up because you talked about them so much - The Shadow of the Wind. & Evelyn Hugo.

Every week I'm looking forward to your video, I love them! I've been thinking about the evolution of my reading too this year and now I cannot wait to see how your reading journey has developed. Love the jacket btw Seeing all your previous reading challenges brings back so many memories! Nearly all of the books seen are some I have read/ heard about through GoodReads or Booktube. The nostalgia is real.

Analyzing the trend of your reads is a good idea! I only recently started using goodreads to keep track of my yearly reads, but I do find that the older I've gotten, the better I am able to field which books I'd enjoy vs the ones I wouldn't. I'm very fond of almost every book I read in 2021 (only 20, but a big accomplishment for me!). My favorites were the mysteries, sci-fis, and fantasies, stories with either a puzzle to solve or vast worldbuilding that makes me imagine the possibilities of said world. (PS love of the colors of the blazer!)

Such an interesting video! It is a shame when a reading year is not as good enjoyment wise than the others before. I hope you find new favorites in 2022! I too have started with YA books alongside classics (when I started reading in english, which is not my first language), and have evolved to adult fiction. I feel like I know better what I enjoy but at the same time I'm having a harder time finding new favorites. But there has been at least a new favourite of all time every year so I'm not going to complain.

I enjoyed your analysis of your reading styles as they changed over the years. As a high school teacher, I still read YA so I am able to share the books with my students. I enjoy YA but if I didn't teach high school, I wouldn't read it. My favorite genres are historical fiction and mystery. I found my favorite book of all time while in my 50s, so you are right. You can be any age and find your favorite book.

Used to read a lot of novels of a variety of genres but mostly standalones/series but with individual plots mostly self contained, really enjoyed dabbling into classic literature and classic plays. I used to occasionally read comics/graphic novels. Now I almost exclusively read comics & graphic novels along with the occasional novel from authors I already know about. I’m a lot less likely to try a new novelist out of nowhere. I also pick up the occasional non fiction and movie art of book.
