It's a shame James can't do this with the actual footage, not just pictures. He is so good at analysing the game.

The best ref decision I've seen. Momentum. Crowd. Contact. Was all in Arsenal's favour. Only until you see the angle that Saka throws his leg out do you understand how good a decision it was. Never a pen, but so so so easy to give

I think Kiwior’s performance exposed some of the limitations of the CB at full back idea. It’s can work brilliantly against most teams in the league, giving more flexibility. But against the top dog, elite wingers, it can leave you very exposed.

@@pamplona8377 I think Arteta is wary of Tomiyasu getting injured which he does often not so long after coming back. He will play the away game definitely.

Looked to me like neuer was anticipating a shot from Saka, put his leg out to block the shot. Saka doesnt quite have the touch he wanted, bit heavier and further backwards than he wanted. He then runs into neuer, jumps a bit, but i think that was an automatic repsonse to not get injured. So, because there was not a challenge from neuer and Saka lost the ball, its not a pen.

I can understand where you're coming from and I largely agree but the fact is that never still puts his leg out as you said. Saka then attempts to switch direction which puts his right leg towards the right because he's moving towards the left (basic physiscs) which means that even though he initiated contact, neuer still fouled him and in my opinion its a penalty.

@@HueyByrne-ij3ku Saka put the ball too far away and backwards. His momentum carries him into Neuer, but also away from the ball. It's a great refereeing decision. But feels unfair as it would normally be given as a pen.

I think that's a fair objective assessment of what happened, but if we're taking that to its logical conclusion, it should be a pen. It's not the end of the phase of play, Saka's touch did take the ball slightly off his stride but not enough to not keep it at a clear goalscoring opportunity. I would also say that any move neuer's leg makes towards the ball is a challenge, which his body position clearly shows from any reverse angle you wanna pick. I hate seeing all these Saka hate posts because mostly they're bots but also they just don't respect what actually happened. That touch to move it around neuer is his only touch in the phase of play, as he's sprinting onto a loose pass from Bayern's midfield, at the end of the game where legs and minds are a bit slower. Neuer's face said it all; he knew he fucked up.

I was worried about Stones and Dias getting exposed but aside from the unlucky OG, absolutely solid. Stones was able to keep up and make some big stops. Dias made the right decisions in dangerous moments. City sloppy on the ball occasionally and it cost them, could’ve left with a win. What a game!

We have players coming back from injuries our weakest side on defense doesn't have our first choice left back, this is saka and martenellis first games in a couple because of injuries. Great it's the worst Bayern side which is still a Bayern side l. it's not "never a pen", both players' legs were moving towards each other at the contact, and it's one where whichever way the ref called it it wouldn't have been overturned. it's also not a dive, there is genuine contact which pulls saka's leg from out under him i would lean towards being a pen, i think that leg is stretched forward because of his momentum shift in changing direction to the left, and if you watch it in normal speed it's hard to believe anyone can react fast enough to deliberately kick neuer as some people are suggesting

What a shame about the disgraceful refereeing in the Bayern game. Gabriel should be off and a penalty should be given by the letter of the law, Saka kicked Neuer, not the other way, maybe not a dive, but definitely not a penalty.

When pep first started winning the leagues/dominating James thought it was a flash in the pan so he was hating hard because everyone was and then when he learned city were actually dominating for real he toned it down because city grew rapidly even tho most of the fans are new but it’s ok because all big clubs have that but now and then he still can’t help his bias and hate come through. He’s always been a lowkey hater. Don’t pay attention to him… saka has only had one good season whereas foden has had many and competing with kdb the best player in his position. Saka and arsenal this year stat padded (scored many goals) against the lesser teams. I’m not saying saka is bad but foden definitely is better and he’s been world class way before saka. There’s no doubt foden is world class whereas saka has only had one good season last year and this one now which isn’t finished. He hasn’t won anything so he has a while to go before we can talk. At least he needs another season that’s top and then it’s fair to say he’s there with foden but still he’s not as gifted as foden.. in the England team no one is as technically gifted or gifted in any way as much as foden but he plays for city so a lot of people hate

If you watch both you know who’s better and Jude is in the convo as well Foden done in week and week and won multiple trophies and individual honours

If Foden can produce a masterclass at the Etihad next week, I think he will cement his place as the best player in the world this season. None of this Bellingham or others bllshit. It's either Foden or Rodri, clear as day. Maybe Kane & VVD come close, that's it.

Attackers always dangle a leg when they know contact in the box is coming. It's just how it is! Neuer moved towards the ball, didn't get the ball, there was clear contact...it's a penalty every day of the week. I reckon the ref didn't give it because of the Gabriel handball at 60-odd mins.
