    That is part and parcel of man united problem as a club is the idea that they need ready made players. Man united used to blood players through and make them ready, not expect them to be ready when they walk in the door. From a Newcastle Fan. IF you are not willing to build players you will only get players at the end of their prime wanting t o cash in. Not on the way to it.

    it's not regular i agree with Merson but his right here. I said Issak and others were quality players and was told they are not going enough for United and a year later suddenly they say his a top player and we should have brought them. We can't keep spending over the odds and giving massive wages to players who haven't proven themselves yet. Varane and Casemiro have proven themselves, Maguire, Anthony, Sancho and many more haven't yet so wage and transfer price need to be lower if they want to come to the club

  • @andyh323

    Recruitment was better at Newcastle before be arrived: Bruno, Trippier, Botman, Pope, Isak and Gordon were all Eddie Howe's choices, not Ashworth's. For example, Newcastle went for Botman during the 2022 winter window but didnt get him and he, or his chief scout, Steve Nickson identified Isak for the future. Also Howe chose Tonali, it was Ashworth's job to oversee due diligence (that didn't work out too well...).. So don't get ahead of yourselvelves too much. He reorganised the structure and then decided to leave before seeing it through. Yeh, the real dependable type...

    That third guy is wrong. United have been buying big-name, ready-made players for so long without a proper plan and where has that got them? If you don't ensure that your foundations are right, you can keep stacking all the good stuff on and it'll keep falling down cos your foundation isn't solid enough to take the load on top. Get your roots right, get them strong, and even if you suddenly get a big jump in additions in a very short amount of time, your foundations are solid enough to take it. What United fans want is consistent success. Not 2nd in league this season, 6th next, 3rd the following, 8th in the subsequent, Cup final this season, out in the 3rd rd next season, and so on.....all that yo-yoing. We haven't won anything for so long, what's another year or two if that gets us into a string of consistent title and cup challenges and victories?

  • @aaronlloyd6905

    @aaronlloyd6905

    5 ай бұрын

    Spot on. I actually think it’s the complete opposite, as in superstars is not what we need at all. Get some young blood in, and some real work horses who are 25-27. We need people who will run and want to be at United, then once you have that in place, you can bring in one or two big players that have a foundation to go and win games. We have 4-5 exceptionally talented youngsters coming through, and obviously that’s a big if, would like to see 1-2 younger cbs, 1 young cm. Then a few more experienced players come in to help them along. After the shite we’ve put up with from the Glazers it actually feels like it’s time to be genuinely excited again as a United fan. The amount people are talking about all of what SJR is doing is also a big sign of that.

    I’m a United fan , honestly this year listening to pundits has driven me mad . It’s literally been a whole season of just talking about them . Ok city are normally a forgone conclusion to win . There are another 19 teams in the premier league . Some excellent teams in the championship . Yet over 50 percent of media Coverage is on United . Normally negatively. When Utd had injuries according to pundits no excuse. When spurs , the toon get injuries it’s affected them . Although I love my club , I’m a football fan . I like to hear news and debates about our opponents. I’m in my 50s and lost the tribalism aspect until match day . Let’s be fairer to the other teams in this country . I understand Man Utd give you airtime and more viewers. There are some great teams playing great football and are totally overlooked . Funny how passionate they all become on there too . None of them ever played for us . Then again there are a few that have taken some beatings over the years 😉

    Just hope he does some due diligence on players betting histories before he blows 25% of Manure's budget on a player who can't play for 18months. Guess it shows where Man Utd currently are that they are celebrating getting a Director from Newcastle.

    I'm pleased with what Jim has started working on so far but to be brutally honest these kinds of moves that are being made are so basic for a club the size of Utd. All it does is show just how much the club has been neglected by the Glazers for 10 plus years now. It's obvious that a club like Utd should have been appointing the best in class in key areas like the CEO and sporting director and head of recruitment roles. Instead, the Glazers just allowed their good banker money mates like Woodward run the club like a bunch of complete amateurs when it comes to the sporting side. The same can be said of Richard Arnold and John Murtough. A decade of neglect resulting in mismatched and unbalanced squads full of the the wrong type of characters that were there mostly because they were offered ridiculous wages and contracts. It's time United started to scout and sign the cheaper up and coming talents that the likes of Brighton and Newcastle have been recruiting for example, rather than overpaying for big names past their best or simply overpaying in general for nobodies like Antony. Positive so far from Jim and Ineos but the Glazers still own us and until we see results on the pitch we're not all convinced

    Ashworth done what? He turned England into the most boring team on planet earth along with Southgate. He refused to sign a striker for Brighton and left them with Maupay upfront. Brighton went from relegation contenders to Europa as soon as he left. Newcastle we’re close to signing Maddison, Paqueta and Diaby and Ashworth decided Lewis Hall was a better option. He never recruited brightons hidden gems like Mitoma, Caicedo etc, that was Sam Jewell, all Ashworth did was negotiate a price. All Ashworth wants is over priced British players. If Newcastle get Rangnick, he will be a huge upgrade over Ashworth. Rangnick is the bloke who scouted Haaland, Mane, Nkunku, Gvardiol, Keita, just to name a few. Don’t think Man Utd realise that Ashworth is very stuck in his ways of British players.
