So some of the audio stuff has been changed in recent firmware updates and things like the lowpass filter have changed completely in the way that it operates. So the numbers I give in this video are likely no longer the optimal settings. I haven't powered my Mega Sg on since making this nor have I updated the firmware since v4.2 I think. So the default value with the lowpass filter turned on may well be the best setting, but I really don't know. But you do want at least SOME lowpass filter otherwise it will sound too bright and shrill. I've been using my real Genesis since the making of this video.

Sorry about the flood of Mega Sg videos from every channel in the world! That's what happens when you have embargoes. We've never had a video released on day 1 of a product launch so it will be interesting to see if it ends up being worth it for you and for Game Sack. So it's all an experiment.

If you're still wondering about those borders, they're to make sure no useful area of the display was cut off by the variable overscan that was present on CRT televisions, and having them be a color that was similar to the game's background would make them less noticeable if a particular television's overscan didn't obscure the entire border area.

damn isn't this the best video on the topic?! so many references to recent episodes (like water damage in European games, heck yeah!!) and everything is snappy and also funny, man, great job!! it would be cool to see you and Dave play Ultracore on Playing With Sacks, like you did with FX-Unit: Yuki!

I really wish my Switch would make fart sounds when I select things or power it on..... maybe a custom Wario iteration will come out with Fart Functionality!!

if you mod your Switch (kinda a pain and wouldn't recommend you do it yet) you can actually change the sounds for when you attach you joy cons. Also for when you detach them lol. So.....you could actually make them different fart sounds....I kinda wanna do it now.

Spectacular solo bonus episode Joe, thank you! I was prepared for this to be a watered down episode but aside from no Dave this felt like the full meal deal, boy am I stuffed, now I'm gonna watch some Playing with Sacks for dessert...

I just got one, it is an amazing little thing! I am holding cartridges I haven't held in 25 years and can play them flawlessly on our big TV. Been emulating for years using roms but you can't beat the real deal, at least for the games themselves.

Realized I hadn't finished the video, started watching from the beginning again. Cracked up just as stupidly at the fart noise on button gag because I'd forgotten. So congrats, that's twice you've gotten me with that gag.

I’m sold on it. I’ve been waiting to hear the reviews but I knew just by the name that it was well worth the money. Now if we could only get some decent shoot em ups for less then $200-$500 a piece. ;) ...and thank you for the help with the settings. I was really hoping you’d do a review on this. I’m really excited about getting this console.

Haha love that you also included Quack Attack! I did the same in my own SG review. The jailbreak has been a game saver for me, as the Game Gear adapter was maybe the biggest draw for me on the SG.

Once again awesome job on the review Joe! I really appreciate the in-depth look at the hardware especially when it comes to the sound output. I can't stand systems/roms where the sound is changed I want my original tunes. And I will definitely try the recommended settings you offered. A great and informative review done by the best when it comes to the Genesis! #YoJOE!

I want an an analogue sg just for the realistic flatulence sounds it makes when powering up. Great review as always from the game and system review champions 💪
