[UPDATE] If you have the newer "Pro" version of the Everdrive that has screws, you can remove the top to get it to fit in the Duo. Mine is an early 2015 model and you need to use a SMALL (I mean really small) hex tool and then you can remove the top. Thanks to everybody who gave me suggestions!

Take a file to the slot. I'm sure you can open it up a bit to get the Everdrive to fit.

​@@qqq1701It seems like the slot is big enough as some of the acrylic top goes in. There must be some lip inside that should be easier to remove. Unless it is part of the actual card port.

Yeah, you can take over the plastic top of the Ever Drive to use it. Game Sack showed it was an option. Lame but it works.

It all depends if you want to remove the rivets permanently you can always put them back together in some sort of way but that's a personal preference I love the review though!

One thing I learned collecting for the TG-16/PC Engine was to purchase the game whenever I found one because you never knew when you would see another one at the Retro Store.

Their games are rare for sure..especailly the good ones.

Growing up in the UK we didn’t have any NEC consoles, but a friend at school got a PC Engine (he was from Hong Kong) and I borrowed it for a couple of days. I was blown away with the size of the sprites, and the size of the console! Truly one of my core(-grafx) memories from my childhood. (Sorry for the pun.)

I remember reading reviews of the games in Mean Machines magazine in the Uk. I guess at some point it was thought they would launch it in the UK but Sega and Nintendo beat them to the punch with the Megadrive and SNES.

Puns is what we do best here in the UK! I never even seen a PC Engine in real life over here. It does look like a good consoles though. Maybe you could of forgot to give it back to your friend and then mysteriously moved... No, not here in the UK. We are too honest! Are you still friends with him?

I really love how you're not just showing off the new products/hardware, but also showing us the history of such systems! I think that's really cool

Gives me hope that one day Analogue will release an updated Mega SG with Sega CD and 32X support built in. Maybe they can call it the Analogue Mega SGX or Mega CDX.

you can at least get a Mega SD or the Mega Everdrive Pro which gives you Sega CD support right on the cartridge.

@@njevansYT you're right about that, I believe it supports 32x as well if you connect the proper cable. but I'm hoping someone jailbreaks the Analogue Duo so it can play Sega CD original discs, how awesome would that be?

I picked up my TurboGrafx 16 at a thrift store in Spanaway around 1996 for less than 5 bucks and it came with one of the Bonk games.

Analogue reported that it would support the Turbo EverDrive but you’d have to remove a case like you have if one was installed. Would really be interested if it did work.

Mine's en route, can't wait. I've had my TG-16 for a few years (always wanted one as a kid but never had the chance back in the day), so I've got a handful of games but I'm looking forward to importing tons of PC Engine titles now. As for the price, feel free to browse listings for what original hardware is going for nowadays. This thing is half the price of a proper Duo and twice the hardware because it's region-free.

Mine is on its way. Looking forward to testing it out. I hope there is a something to do about the everdrive issue. Great video covering this.

I feel like Analogue is slowly but surely building up to the point of doing something like the Polymega. With the "Library" section of the OS, the only thing that's really missing there is a storage drive attached to install those games to. They proved that they can do this fantastic hardware and recreate these amazing retro experiences that sell extremely well, and the Analogue OS, while still pretty young, is shaping up to be really good. I think it would be a homerun for that team. Great video as always, @MetalJesusRocks! Keep up the great work!

Not really. The Pocket supports a bunch of systems but they've recently announced their version of the N64. Sadly no multi system like the Pocket.

I had a tg16, turbo duo and express when I was younger. I chose that over a Genesis. I never regretted it. I think since I have no games I would look into the market before buying one but man do I want one of these. I also recently passed on picking up a tg16 for 250$ at my game store. Metal Jesus you should do a tg16/pc engine video! This was great thank you!

The turbo express was pretty slick. My sisters first husband (bf at the time) borrowed one from a friend and let me use it for awhile. Would have loved my own but I was prolly 11 years old and could hardly afford games for my tg16

Eagerly awaiting this. Pretty impressed with the image quality, even with going through KZread. Happy with my Polymega but this may be the premium way to play TG/PCE games for me.

I remember growing up my uncle worked at BFI Garbage and he would get so much new stuff for free that companies threw away like bunch of sony stuff, all the game consoles and games. For xmas one year he gave me a turbo graphx 16 with all the games, turbo cd, and the handheld turbo graphx system. Loved it. Final lap was a favorite as well as all the bonk games.

Mine just shipped today! Soooo excited to get it. Kinda wish I ordered the White PC engine color now that I'm seeing yours though.

Based on the early reivews, its half baked on the software end. A lot of stuff works, but there are a lot of bugs. Im sure they will get sorted out over the next year, but its software is not fully realized yet.

I love when young people discover old video games that are "new" to them! Makes me happy!

I've been playing a lot of TG16/CD games on my Analogue Pocket via the TV dock with the 8bitdo wireless TG16 pads and it's fantastic!

Mine just shipped, I am looking forward to finally trying the PC Engine/Turbogtafx 16 library but I wish the disc slot was either a pop up door or a motorized tray since these are CD's!

I am huge into video game collecting and I use Emulation a lot because of games/ consoles that are harder to get or that I haven't been able to find/ pickup. I also love using flash carts on systems that I already have and I think it's cool that even a collector as big as you still uses flash carts even if it's just on a more niche of a console.

My parents bless their hearts couldn’t afford to buy me 2 systems back in the day so I never played this . After the holidays I’m gonna try to pick one out !

I see everyone is dropping videos today for this thing. Still not sold out, not surprising.

The TG-16 was the step child system of the 16 bit era but it has allot of gems that I've discovered recently.

I love that they picked the TurboDuo as the plastic shell design and not something generic. I've had my PC Engine Duo for a number of years now and love it! You definitely need to pick up some of the Bomberman games for some classic party gaming. And I'm glad you showcased Buster Bros because it is a super fun game to just pick up and play with a friend.

I remember the turbo grafx16 being hooked up at a Kmart in like 1990 for people to try out. But it was too expensive for anyone to afford at the time.

This will look great along side with my TurboDuo which I’ve had since it’s release and absolutely love it. IMO it’s the most beautiful console ever made. Wish Analogue would have placed the controller port on the front as the OG cords are extremely short but I prefer them for the 3 turbo settings and feel great. Minor complaint. DAC support is a must and their store indicated DAC will work with all Analogues future products so yeah I’m expecting that. Analogue really should have designed the card slot to be more like original cuz that tiny slot is disappointing

Having the Pocket and a MISTer I think I will stick with those, great review, and nice looking unit.

Great video Jason, Analogue gear is a bit out of my price range but I appreciate that it's an emulated hardware solution for ageing consoles. I'm quite happy with my Nvidia Shield Emulation as my gaming reactions are not what they used to be. It's always great to see new hardware like this.

Man this Analog Duo is awesome! I wanted a Turbo Duo badly but never saw one. I recently got a Turbographix 16 without box and Keith Courage for $200 and I'm happy. But I'll be happier with the Analog will try to get one. Thanks for the heads up and cool video MJR!👉🙂👈

Great vid. Duo looks like a solid option. Those 8bit DO controllers have input lag, which sucks as I had high hopes for them.

If their past release are anything to go by custom firmware will be released letting you load games from the SD card.

The FAQ for the Duo does mention removing the acryllic top to use an everdrive, so that is def something you missed!

Nope. The early 2015 model I have has rivets. I suppose you could take a file or cutters and attempt to rip it off...but certainly not as easy as screws with newer Everdrives.

Pretty neat, PC Engine games are pretty easy to find in retro game shops in South Korea (where I live) as they are mostly from Japan. Prices are also fairly affordable.

I was watching Game Sack's video on this thing when the notification for this popped up (Update. Also Joe got the Turbo Everdrive Pro to work with the Duo by removing the outer casing for it)

Having to sell my original TG-16 and may games back when I was having financial troubles in the mid 90s was unfortunate. If I was tempted to try to rebuild the collection, I would love to do it on a system like this. But I'm not sure if it's worth the time and money at this point. Very cool though.

Got the pcengine,cdrom for my bday as a kid.I think i was 10.Still my favorite consol till this day and i'm 40 now.With the price now,this analogue console is a good choice!!!Great review.

I am most likely going to just stick with the Analogue Pocket for this since I have a dock. The PC Engine/T16 Core works great and I believe with the new update you can use the 8Bit-Do T16 controller.

When the tg16 came out here in the US I remember buying it and playing the heck out of Keith Courage and then move on to Bonk’s Adventure and those the only two games I have for it.

I have a TG-16 with the CD player and a bunch of Hu Card and CD games. I loved it back in the day. I never understood why it wasn't more popular. Used to spend hours with my father playing the hidden bomberman game on the Bonk CD. My favorite bomberman game to this day. Do the controllers on this not have the turbo switches? A lot of games really needed those.

Im sticking with the terraonion solution. If this is jailbroken then fine... but no everdrive support then thats a no go for me.

I'm glad to see the white one is more of a "yellowed" white so it matches the 8Bitdo controller... since that's the one I ordered. Hopefully it will ship today. :)

I've been looking to get into the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine for a while now and this seems like an easy in since the original consoles are hard to find.

I had similar issues with reading games on my Analogue Pocket that original devices could read perfectly.

I have a Turbo Duo and lots of games. Only the caps have gone out in it. And CD-Rom was going out. I would love to get ahold of one of these to replace it.

Is it just me or does the Analogue Duo's audio feel less compressed, more dynamic, and rounder in the mid range? I'm wondering if the drop in volume is due to less compression/bit crushing? Not to experienced with the emulation or the original system, but was intrigued by the audio difference. Love the idea of the Analogue having just a touch more dynamics, and spaciousness to the audio experience.

I’m pretty disappointed that it cannot play Everdrive carts I was looking forward to PC engine using everdrive to play on that system hopefully in the future they’ll be able to change that. I’m glad that I have some graphics cards and complete those games

All you have to do is remove the outer casing to make the Everdrives work. But the fact that you have to do that is still annoying regardless.

The Everdrive has a removable acrylic plastic cover on it that blocks insertion. Just remove it. 🙄🙄

I mean thank goodness you can remove the screws, but imagine if they made it big enough for the everdrive. all the regular tgx16 games would be very loose in the slot

I'm glad companies make consoles like this. Ive seen plenty TurboGrafx 16 consoles but never actually played one. I wanna get one and some games for it because I love classics consoles like this.

@MetalJesusRocks I have a small HuCard and SuperCDROM games and preordered on Day 1. After review, however, the Analogue Dui does not feature the "flip lid" for the HuCards like the TurboDuo rendering something like the Turbo Everdrive 2 unusable...so unfortunately, I cancelled my preorder. Since my library didn't justify the cost and unless I can ever find a working TG16 w/CD or a Turbo Duo...my library will be sold. Edit: If they did make a version to accommodate the Turbo Everdrive 2 module...I would be a Day 1 buyer. Cheers, Brent

I built a custom The MiSTer that plays everything I need from the retro year (Genesis, TG16, Neo Geo). Pretty happy with it and it's open community standards.

Will Analogue plan on making an Analogue Neo that plays Neo Geo games? That would be sweet!

I wish Analogue would do another run of the NES/Nt. I missed out on it. Also, I had a TG16 for a really short time (less than one day). Miss it. Looking forward to doing the jailbreak on my Duo.

The Everdrive works just fine; you need only remove the top of the ED’s case to make it fit.

Back around 2000/2001, I was in college and the school was in a very rural area. Even further out in the no man's land of rural Georgia was a "town" that was nothing more than a stop sign intersection. And on that intersection was a MASSIVE, killer thrift shop. I found a CIB Turbo Grafx 16 there once, and it was the first and only time I'd ever seen one until Retro Gaming shops became a thing. I have no clue why this system was so obscure but I guess unless you lived in much larger cities and shopped department stores, this system practically "didn't exist" for most of us. Still, I always wondered how that single TG-16 ended up in Bowman, GA.

Joe at Game Sack pulled the cover off his Everdrive and it fit. I’m just going to use my Everdrive in my Core Grafx II, and play my import Hu cards and cds in my duo… it shipped today!

Mine is suppose to be delivered today, cant wait to bust out some Air Zonk and play on my large TV, playing my original hardware through a Frame Meister and all that is kind of a pain in the ass. This will be alot easier to use on a modern TV. Ive been buying some more games lately too to fill out my collection.

Update: I got mine and it works fine so far, tried Air Zonk and Y's on CD. The only thing I found is that the Everdrive I have dosent work, it just dosent show up at all.

If you had the original cdrom from the turbo duo with Gates of Thunder/Bonk and Ys you could also put in a secret code on the start screen and access Bomberman from a hidden menu

Growing up in the 80's and 90's in the UK I only knew about the PC Engine from watching Games World on Sky. Never seen one in real or heard of a TurboGraphics. But now I have emulation on my Series S I have been experiencing these for the first time.

I loved playing Dragons curse on TG16!

Im curious if the new Everdrive Pro with CD core will play on this. The website says it wont work with a system that has a connected or internal CD-Rom

I'm thinking about picking this up it says ships in February then says May when I looked elsewhere when is it available? I have about a dozen hucards but no cd games and an og turbografx so it's def worth picking up as I have always loved this console among the most underrated consoles ever. I just got Raiden for it Sunday actually it def is a shoot'em up beast for sure.

Like you say its almost impossible to find this stuff in the wild especially when the console never even launched in my country. At least the USA has a launch for it.

I have a PC Engine Duo R with a RGB Mod for a year now. This console is so awesome. Dracula Rondo X for example. 🤤 The Analouge Duo is coming in a few days. You never know 🤙🏼

I just want to play my fan translations. Hopefully there will be support for roms sometime after it comes out..

very cool, i like this review where you give these young (and good looking) experience a retro gaming console. these analog consoles are like really expansive LP players. if you actually have a library of these games for the analog consoles its pretty cool to own it. other wise if you just want to experiance these games. aliexpress emu consoles are super legit these days

When my console finally arrived, I was ready to game on some PC-Engine games. After I installed the latest firmware, the console completely craped out for no reason. The console kept on resetting every 2mins and the console wouldn't even boot up. I had to return my console back to Analogue and hoping to get an update from them

I never could get a reply back from them. Also the sound emulation is AWFUL on the Analogue Duo. It's very inaccurate. It actually encouraged me to buy a RetroTink 5x and stick with OG hardware. Just bought a RGB & region modded PC-ENGINE Duo-R and loving it. Done with Analogue
