It is true, it is not only the body what makes dance but we have to admit that ballet is a visual art and, whether we want it or not, dancers' bodies have a very important role to make a choreography beautiful. I insist, ballet is not only the body, it have the purpose of expressing something, that is the important thing. (Sorry for my english, it is not my first language)

When she was talking about how being short doesn't matter and that its about dance and this is not a modeling business I was like YAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS YYYAAAAAASSS PRREEEAACCHHHH

She really is a pint sized powerhouse. Not only is she incredibly strong but there is so much grace and beauty and heart in her moves :)

Maria is so encouraging: "The difficulties are not there to push you away from what you love, but to make you stronger". Words that have really helped me powerfully during very difficult times. And she is just so beautiful in how she dances: lyrical and poetic. WHAT a dancer. Thank you, Maria.

There is this genuine and precious level of vulnerability in her voice that makes her so real, so lovable and so relatable to all of us. :)

How on earth could she ever believe she's not perfect! She is so beautiful and graceful!

yep, that decides it. i love her - her dancing, her personality, she is absolutely amazing, both as a dancer and as a person

OMG. i love her sooo much one of my favorite dancers in the world! and i just... cant belive that she danced on the same floor i dance on everyday!! i LOVE anaheim ballet and i LOVE Maria Kochetkova!!!!!!!!

This just made my day a whole lot brighter, im almost leaving for my dance classes, and to hear the words like keep believeing and nothing is impossible made me smile. Im going to go to dance class and show them what i can really do. Thank you Maria

She is so inspiring! I met her when I was at the San Francisco Ballet summer intensive and she is so humble and nice! She is definitely one of my favorite dancers of all time because she shows that ballet is more than having the perfect body and technique (even though she has both), it is how you present yourself.

I agree with alcyonae. My passion is in Classics, and so many of the things Kochetkova says in this video can apply to anyone who is working hard to pursue whatever their passions and dreams are. This is by far my favorite video so far... I'm no longer a dancer because I had to give it up for my main career.. music. I cannot do ballet because there is no place to learn. It breaks my heart so much because this truly is one of my deepest passion. I may not be able to do ballet but I watch lyrical dance and try to do that. At times it makes me cry to watch these videos because I want to do this so so bad! I know I would give it my all and work so hard and put so much feeling into it.. I KNOW I could do it... I can't though. But watching others do it... is amazing. Thank you for inspiring me and posting these!

On Nov 28, 2008, she danced Giselle at Kennedy Center. My mom and sister and I were blown away by how she stole our hearts both in acting and dance. They finally understood why I love that ballet so much and why I had insisted that 4 of us attend the performance.
