Couldn't be happier for Hughes. She was stuck in partner purgatory for a long time, both domestically and internationally, but just kept working, and now she's a world champ.

Kelly/Sarah started really strong from the beginning of the match. I was rooting for Duda/A.Patricia to rally but they were out of focus. Moreover, I never seen Duda get frustrated after missing a ball (slammed the sand court) and gave up on the ball at match point. My sincere condolence on her grandma’s passing. Great Finals Game! 🇺🇸🇧🇷

Only time I ever see her like that is against this team. The other two times she lost to them she acted the same way. Frustrated/angry and a little out of it.

There’s something off with Duda’s defense ? also AP ‘s blocks ? Kinda slow ? But still they played so well , USA were the under dogs here ! The ball is round ! Congratulations too BRASIL ! Imagine seeing them exchanging partners like Sarah and Ap , then Kelly and Duda , just for fun ! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉

Team Brasil seems very off today, strange performance and many uncharacteristic errors and focus all over the place. Team USA came more then ready and 110% focus. Congrats 👍👌

This American team gives Ana Patricia and Duda trouble, that’s why the two teams are 2-2 prior to this match, now 3-2 USA. I believe a big part is Kelly Cheng, the American blocker, hitting the ball on the 2nd contact. The Americans are very fast and efficient when they do it and AP tends to have trouble getting to her spot to block when they do it. This is why you guys are noticing her looking “off” - I believe it’s because she can’t get to her spot and set up her block well as often, and Duda has to constantly worry is the ball getting spiked on 2? If you rewatch this replay you’ll notice several times where AP can’t get to her spot to block and the Americans get to spike on an open net. AP and Duda are VERY good with momentum, and Cheng and Hughes are good at sliding in a 2-ball spike to score every time AP and Duda get excited to prevent them from getting on a roll and scoring 3-4-5 points in a row. I believe these are definitely the best 2 teams in the world, and probably the American team who took Bronze is a close #3

a masterclass in tactics and strategy. the us girls been keeping the Brazilians in their comfort zone all year - so they did not expect what was coming and thus underperformed by a lot. a little too sure of themselves. title masterfully "stolen"

That ref should be humble to give the point to BRASIL for not calling the double . As a referee you have the prerogative to correct your wrong call and give the point to BRASIL . That will haunt his career as FIVB referee! 🙄

There's really no avenue to overturn a call like that, since it's not reviewable. You can't change a judgment call just because the other team protests. I don't think it was the right call, I'm just saying that once you've made it, you can't change it.

Quite a few of mishandled sets from USA that the refs chose not to call…. That definitely had an effect on the mental game of Duda/Ana. Tough loss for them, congrats to Kelly/Sarah

Yes some of the refs in this tournament had bad call. However, D&AP are an experienced team who have the grit to overcome bad calls. they didn’t play their best game here and Sarah/Kelly were on their A game.

Péssimo trabalho da CBV no comando de Radames Lattari,já passou da hora de trocar o comando da entidade,as duplas brasileiras ganhavam com muito mais facilidade os mundiais de volei de praia e de quadra

a vó da Duda faleceu no 2 dia do campeonato. Além de estar longe da família, não conseguiu viver o luto da perda. Mas é óbvio que atleta não é ser humano e não pode sofrer né?! Mais fácil julgar

I dont know what is so funny about that set 5:55. Anyone who has any idea about volleyball or was playing himself would have been frustrated about the amount of incompetent decision making for the refs. Nothing funny there at all.

I think they were laughing because the ref did not call a mishandled ball. It was pretty obvious from even the horrible video angle that it was bad. But, this is the FIVB where every match played there could be multiple mishandled calls made so they should know better than to quit playing the point.
