An Update of Woes on my 2013 Infiniti G37xS

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Summary: If your looking for a sports sedan than you actually like to push in some sort of a sporting manor, man up and buy the RWD. Otherwise explore other options.I have never regret a decision so much as I have getting this car.

Being a 2011 G37xS owner, I wanted to argue against most of the things you'd mentioned about your driving experience with it, but couldn't. The AWD G does have some flaws in stock form, especially in AT mode (no idea why you didn't utilize the paddle shifters). However, I've realized that we are simply two different types of drivers/buyers, with different expectations and awareness about this car. I went into my purchase, knowing the negatives and positives, with a plan to resolve the negatives myself. I don't lease! When comparing against the competition (BMW/Audi), I found it simpler to take the extra 6-7k it would cost to own either of those cars MSRP, and buy the parts needed to not only make the G perform the way I wanted, but better than the competition for roughly the same cost. In the end, I have a car that does what I want, how I want, and without the need of perpetual maintenance both of the those brands require to operate normally.

it's difficult to answer that question without bias. The best advice I can give is to drive them both and see which caters to your preferences. Personally, if I were looking at BMW, I'd go with nothing less that an M series. They are amazing drivers cars! As for the G37, if I were to do it again, I'd go with the 6MT IPL coupe. Since my initial response to this video, I've traded in my G37 for a 2015 6MT 370Z Nismo. No regrets!!!

OMG...someone who has the same issues that I have. Mine is a 2010 G37X S. I admit I love the car to the point of fixing the suspension issue, replacing all my speakers, and Sprint Booster to fix that gas pedal lag issue. I'm hoping to make it a True S model and live up to the SKYLINE linage.

I've driven 08 g35xs, aswell as 2010 and 2013 g37x and I did not feel the engine braking as you described what so ever. However the suspension is definitely a tad loose for a sports sedan I can totally agree with that. I still say the g37x out does competition such acuras TLX sh-awd any day when it comes to it being a daily driver.

Hey SS, Sorry to hear you dont like your G37x :( but some of the complaints you had I do not experience with mine. We currently have a 2007 G35x and a 2013 G37x, the difference between the 5AT and the 7At is night and day.. The 5AT seems a bit on the harsh side once and awhile and exhibits what you were saying about the highway merging (sluggish) where the 7AT is very rev happy yet smooth, never has it shifted into 7th and stayed there, unless I stop accelerating. I do agree about the handling though, its not as good as it was on my 2006 G35, its more numb feeling and does tend to dive more (on both the X's) The paint chipping is.. idk..maybe just bad luck? followed a semi or dump truck too long? None of my G's have had paint chips. We bought our 2013 with only 10,000 miles on it, it currently has 19k and still looks brand new, so does the 07 with 90,000 miles, as well as our 06 that had 100k on it when we traded it in. I also agree about the Q50.. it sure doesn't "wow" me like the G did.

We have had many infiniti's though the years I30, G35x, m35x 06' and 10'. They've all been great and went well over 150k miles, the I30 got kept as a spare over 300k. I don't see what you problem is they are very sporty cars so I don't know what your expecting out of it. You might want to look at a supercar instead if you can afford it which i doubt considering you got a lease special tells me a lot.

I have the 2009 version of this car, and it's much different. I had a 2013XS as a loaner, it was vastly different. It was floaty and boaty. They ruined it, IMHO. 2009 was night and day different (the 2010 refresh killed it).

  • @StormAutoAdventures

Jesus, you would think Infiniti would have addressed these issues by 2013 since the first G37 sedan came out in 2009. The transmission was the thing I was hoping would be fixed by 2013, but I guess not. Question, for people who like to drive in manual mode most of the time, will this transmission upshift on it's own without your doing so while in manual mode? If it at least stays in the gear you've chosen, except for coming to a stop obviously, I wouldn't mind the upshifting while in drive mode because I'd be in manual mode most of the time.

+ because of the transmission the car feels way slower compared to the loaner 2015 Q40 AWD i drove which is the exact same car but drive wayyyy better. Its embarrassing to have passangers in the car and having to floor the car everytime i have to pass on the freeway. the car just drags and feels heavy 😕

Dude, this video is 100% right. I came from an 06 RWD G35 Sedan to a G37xS Sedan and you hit the nail on the head. Albeit, my old sedan was dropped on coils, upgraded sway bars, strut bar, camber arms and 19s, it handled WORLDS better than this car. I'm going to do the same things to this car and see what happens.

What year is your G37xS. Do you think the problems he complains about is an issue all G37x's have? I'm wondering if its that particular model year, or if its just a characteristic of the awd G's.

What's more is that Infiniti lowered the prices of the g37 to make room for the q50. That hurts the resale value of the current g out there.

  • @chigasaki06

    @chigasaki06

I don't think Infinity did that to make room for the Q50. They did it to be the entry level luxury car just like the CLA from Mercedes, and the Audi A3. It's temporary until their new small entry level car is unveiled. Plus in about a year or so, they won't be offering it anymore.

The price has to drop sooner or later. Otherwise you end up with cannibalistic scenarios like Subaru where everyone wants $20k minimum for their used STi regardless of year.

KRAAZEKHARISMA That is true! Audis do plow a lot, but they feel much flatter and more planted than these cars do. Im not expecting it to drive like a BMW (my benchmark) but the overall fit and finish, the 2.0t, quattro being a VERY good system (Seeing as the car was designed around quattro vs quattro being adapted into the car) and just the overall looks and what not might be enough to sway me. I have been driving a lot of audis recently because of this though. I want to make sure I'll be happy with it. I just think I am ready for a change more than anything. A B7 Body style A4 Avant 2.0t with a 6 speed is the change I need.
