A journey that led me to this video... coming up to around 2022, I'd been getting recommendations to pay attention to Jacob from musicians I respect, and I tried to listen a couple of times, but it never clicked. The setting wasn't right (in my car stuck in traffic), or more likely - I was not ready. That is, until a heavy mushroom trip, when I had a thought - maybe now is the time? I put on Djesse Vol 3, and the song "He Won't Hold You" found me in the right state, in the right place, at the right time. I still don't know what the song means, and Jacob talks about writing lyrics open to interpretation, but the impact is still there. Since then Jacob became my obsession. I watched all his Logic session breakdowns, I watch his Patreon Zoom calls, I saw him live twice by now - last year performing solo at SFJazz, and last week on the same tour where you saw him in SF. Words cannot really explain him. He is both not of this world, and 1000% in this world, understanding, feeling and knowing it on a different level, and we are so lucky living in the same time and space as he is. Just last week I met a person that just had his first psychedelic experience. He mentioned that music played a big part in it, and I had to ask him for details, because something about this person told me that we might be experiencing similar things, and the song was, of course - Bridge Over Troubled Water by JC... And going back for anybody what is curious about the Jacob - a great example would be his song from Djesse Vol 2 - "Make Me Cry": In every soul is the need to grow older To speed up the passing of time I don't know why But it makes me cry I will be happy to chat with you about Jacob or other music like that further...

Incredible that you a very similar experience as you did. I stumbled upon Jacob on KZread about a month ago, and like you, I was immediately floored by his creative virtuosity - and coincidentally he was playing in my area - Philly - 2 weeks later! So I snatched up tickets and it was an unforgettable experience. So much so that we bought more tickets to see him in Denver, which we are going 2 weeks from now! we even upgraded to see the sound-check and do a meet & greet! Discovering his music is life-changing :-)

@@bigMiracleEnergy I should have mentioned another coincidence, but my in-laws live in Madeira Beach, which is like 15 mins from St Pete, and I was *this* close to flying down for that show too, but then we figured we'd see him in Denver...our son lives out there so we're taking him to see Jacob too :-) I will definitely report back. I posted a few clips from the Philly show in my KZread account. I hope he releases a live video from this tour. What an inspirational, once-in-a-lifetime talent who also happens to be a brilliant communicator and an endlessly kind soul.

I was at the same show in St. Pete as you just a few rows behind you! I'm huge Jacob Collier fan, and it makes me so happy when people who aren't diehard fans of his enjoy his live performances as much as you did ❤️ Nobody can both heal me and emotionally wreck me through sound frequencies quite like Jacob can.

@bigMiracleEnergy Love it! I've watched 2 of your 3 videos on him so far. Hoping to get to the hour-long video tomorrow 😊 In the grand scheme of things I'm a relatively new fan. I happened to catch his livestream with Charlie Puth in late 2020...just a few months after Djesse Vol 3 came out. At the time, I had heard a couple of Jacob's songs but didn't think much of them tbh. It was during that livestream that I noticed his brilliance, wholesomeness, and humor, which then made me want to do a music deep dive. Fast forward to 2022, I saw him perform at Disney Springs, and that's when he officially became my favorite solo artist of all time. Would love to bounce around ideas. Sending you and email shortly.
