When the Amish, step into our world, if they have not been exposed to society stuff it must be so odd. Everything must be difficult to understand. But, this is their belief system not ours. Not much we can do about it. Except to hope and pray that they open up their minds to ours. It’s to their benefit if they do. Such a beautiful movie. A lovely ending. Thank you for showing us how lives can change for the better and good in everyone

Brainwashing people into believing (Showing soldiers) that wars are normal part of life doesn't make it a good movie. And now a woman has been shot!! If that's a " clean movie" according to you, I can't imagine what an " unclean movie" is.

I really truly don't understand why folks use the term, "religion," when they are actually referring to Christianity. The Bible dictates our behavior. "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured unto you again (Luke 6:37-38, KJV)."

I find all the movies involving Amish very fascinating. From the culture, the current issues with people beginning to question ancient rules and regulations of their church, community etc. People being torn between restrictions and human desires and challenges in a modern era... The acting is excellent. The above issues demonstrated in a very clear and understandable way. (Another Amish movie I enjoyed was "Love Finds You In Charm". And yet another - "The Witness"...)

I can't help but admire Kelly McGillis, who doesn't mind taking a secondary role in this excellent Amish-themed crime and love story---ironically, after being the young, gorgeous female lead in Witness, the blockbuster movie that covered those same themes in the mid-80's. Kelly may have aged, but she owns her character, and makes everyone else want to perform at the top of their game.

And the amazing gentle but firm, highly intelligent, and wise yet flexible and loving masculinity he captures! Absolutely dreamy! The more I watch this movie the more I notice the superb subtleties he incorporates into this role, like when they got to the sister's house to leave off the kids, and finish telling the sister and her husband what happened, they turn back to the car to get the kids and as he is walking back he is crying and sniffling and then puts his arms up to his face to dry the tears! I only heard that after MANY times of watching this gem. EVERY member of this cast is AMAZING, the Amish characters, the scenery, the season ... just a masterpiece, really.

It’s a movie. The Amish are like everyone else, some a nice and kind, some are rude and mean. Sexual abuse is extensive in some of the communities.

I loved it 😍 Just goes to show there's a rebel for truth, knowledge, and justice in different sects and nationalities. Grace, couldn't have came home at a better time than she did. She's truly an, "Uncommon Grace." Unique, skilled, and talented in many ways, and modest all the same time. 🙂💞 Thanks so much for sharing with us. God bless you and yours!

I wanted to go for a long time and finally did, back in the 80s. But once there I was struck VERY strongly by none of them except store keepers and staffers looking me in the eyes as our tour passed through. You could ask questions of say farmers, sure, but as they answered your question they did NOT LOOK AT THE PERSON WHO ASKED or at any of those in our group, but kept their eyes DOWN. I inquired about this and learned that they (at least those we were visiting that day) are not allowed to look "non-believers" in the eyes (except for their store owners/staffers). I was offended deeply by this and never went back. I still buy Amish goods, no issues with that, but to go visit, nope, I found that lack of eye contact bone chilling!

I know it's not your real name but somehow it's more real that the name given to you by your parents, as this one, is carefully chosen by you to tell everyone what you want them to know about you. We should all choose our names when we become adults. I'm so sorry about my angry comment, but I don't understand why even graphically depicted murders in films go totally unnoticed and people tell others about a nice family movie to watch because there's no swearing!!! No one dies from swearing but people have copied murders and it's so bad to expose children to such awful images. ♥️

@@E-Kat I totally get your frustration with this. But think about what you are saying a bit more and you will see that you are saying that movies should NEVER portray the conflict between GOOD and EVIL. Just because you leave all evil out of movies WILL NOT MAKE EVIL DISAPPEAR FROM THE WORLD. (caps just for emphasis, not to internet scream) Until evil truly is gone, we MUST PREPARE OUR CHILDREN TO COPE WITH IT! And ourselves! I know this is painful. I felt the way you feel too, when I was at a certain age. Your feelings are normal, but they are feelings you need to get past to mature fully - this earth living has MANY PARADOXES that we must recognize and learn to deal with. I give you a spiritual hug as I say these things to you, trust me I am not being mean. Just sharing.
