An ultra-light and full comfort 11,9 lbs backpacking gear list, nice!
Today a gear drop... gear list or gear haul kinda episode where I present my gear, the purpose and most important why I use it!
My gear list is under constant develompent but this ultra-light set up is so nice and flexible despite a quite heavy tent! But, nothing beats the comfort of a freestanding tent so, I will probably keep it for some time anyways.
For the complete gear list, follow the link to lighterpack!

Well or maybe your shoulderseason set-up you mentioned somewhere? I love hiking in late September in Lappland, and most content creators are optimizing for more southern climates. Thank for the good work, +1 sub
Great video. Your tent is intriguing! If you feel like it, a review on that sometime would be great. Your base weight is always so impressive; I can't seem to get mine below 13lbs, and that's with a DCF trekking pole tent!

Thanks so much 🙏🏻 and yea did a review in the tent when I bought it so it’s in the list there somewhere…but, been thinking about doing another one now that I have been using it for over a year. The magic happens when you leave things at home AND save on the smaller things…. No way around that one even if most of it is light weight equipment. But, 13 or slightly over is fine 👍🏻 one small step at a time!
Love this video Robert, nice blend between going light and a bit of luxury. Going to analyze that Lighterpack list, a lot of my items are lighter but my base is 5.9kg!...i suspect i carry too much...😀

Hi and thanks! Well there is no reason to go crazy light and to sacrifice comfort when there are so many good and light enough gear out there! It’s a hobby and one has to enjoy it as well 🙂
Awesome 👍
Good job, it's a sound kit list - some of mine mirrors yours, but also some is different - certainly a few ideas for me to consider (I've already adopted part of your packing system, thanks), and a few other things where I'm satisfied my decisions suit me better. If I traded in my 1.1kg pack for an Atom+ our baseweights would be near identical. Yes, there are plenty of even lighter options out there, but the point is that we consciously choose the weightier item because we have good reason to. Thus there's really no such thing as 'ultralight', there's just the lightest weight to suit a particular individual's circumstances, and that is going to vary from person to person. PS: I moved from a MSR Blizzard Stake to the Vargo Titanium Dig-Dig. It's a tad heavier at 35g (and will still double as a stake), but I'm sure you would prefer its superior performance!

Thanks and yea, you are absolutely right so agree to your thoughts about weight 👍🏻 I have seen the Dig Dig on pictures and heard people talking about it so I hope to be able to try one out sometime and compare to the Blizzard peg but if you changed maybe I will to 🤷🏼♂️ we’ll see.

Great video! Curious, why bring both the wind jacket and the rain jacket? I’ve always just thought the rain jacket did both.
@roberthammenrudh

Hi 👋🏻 and thanks. You’re right, a rain jacket does both, but, wearing it all the time also as a wind jacket you will wear it down quicker and then not being waterproof when you need it to be. A wind jacket is cheap so for me I rather replace it if needed than change the rain jacket that are expensive.

Outstanding. Tent looks amazing. Too bad Big Sky can't seem to execute (rarely in-stock, rarely respond to customer problems, DCF foray failed, tents only for short-people, etc.), because Big Sky designs really appear innovative? Would really like to see them succeed. Great load-out.

@roberthammenrudh
Жыл бұрын
Hi ZZ, we’ll the lowest temperature I sleept in this combination is -7 degree Celsius or 19.4 F if I understand the conversion right…but that was cold! Not from the ground but the quilt is only rated comfort +2. I had the down pants on as well as the Plancklite and lucky for me I brought a thin small fleece blanket that night!! But in comfort and without the blanket I would say -2 to -3 depending on the moisture. If I do more hikes like that I need to buy a warmer quilt!! The X-Therm is good for more I think but because I don’t have a better quilt I can’t try it out. And, I’m a very cold sleeper!

I checked out some of this gear; the tent, per Big Sky, is limited to a max user height of 6ft. Those Turmeric meals are also an issue .......there are simply not enough calories. The other issue is the down clothing - again it's not available in genuinely larger sizes. Such a pity.

Yeah the BS Revolution 1.5 is a bit shorter than the 1 and the 2 so not for taller people. Cumulus though I believe maybe can make bigger sizes but not sure, like you say not all do. The meals well, not sure what you mean, I bring like maybe 2200 kcal/day on hikes up to a week and don’t mind the loss of energy for such a short period of time… if you want more, bring more 🤷🏼♂️ add a few flapjacks or ad a bag of noodles for a bigger lunch.
