Dearest Nora, thank you for sharing your lovely video! I traveled to Iran about four years ago and spent time with a local family near Tabriz in Northern Iran, it seemed such a similar experience to you in this video. I stayed at their home and found the family so kind and hospitable, the food was delicious too (prominent in that homelife experience was the massive beautifully colourful carpets, drinking lots of black tea with sugar cubes, picking fruit from the orchids, sitting around a plastic mat for a three course meal, wearing hijab everywhere outside etc). In my time there I traveled by train to Tehran and then drove up the coast of the Caspian sea (as a car passenger). It was a memory so precious, Id treasure it forever. Best wishes to you.

as an iranian after seeing 5 of your videos from iran I have to say I love seeing such real personalities like you visiting Iran, you dont fake anything and describe everything like it is to you. I hate those who just say nice things about iran like its heaven or people who just say negative things like its hell (Im an atheist btw I dont believe in hell or heaven)

What do you think about your country ? I'm asking because we don't have much information about it you know... I saw the rich kids of tehran on instagram few days ago, are those people stay between them or what ? it seems like theyare living above your laws, correct me if I'm wrong.

***** they live with the rest of tehran but in expensive areas like the Beverly hills of US which I think is called Farzanegan (someone from tehran correct me if Im wrong), some say that some of these rich kids which are not only in tehran are the kids of politicians and gov officials, if you work for the gov or even if you dont but have lots of money then you can sometimes live above the laws, but if you are talking about living above the radical islamic laws then honestly every young person in Iran living in a city has been to at least one house party and had alcohol and...but I assume the rich kids can be a bit more public about it like driving with the roof down and a ton of girls in the back because they probably can afford the troubles. I live in Dubai because of my fathers work and we go to Shiraz- Iran every summer for vacation so I might not know a lot in detail.

david Ela also David, in case you have been living under a rock, Iran is going through a major transformation since 1400 years ago and thanks to the the Ayatollahs the people are going back to their ancient root which is the Pre-islamic Iran, and hence their original religion of Zoroastrianism. And thus many people now start to drop the Arab words such as Salam and simply say DOROUD, or DROD (Pahlavi Persian). Thanks to Internet & KZread you can now easily educate yourself

david Ela Very soon, very very soon, the whole world will be transformed. None more important than Iranians starting to official say Doroud & Doroud Bar shoma or even keep Salam....Iran is a country of Many Ethnicities such as Kurd, Azeri, Baluch, Pars, Lor, etc. We've known about living in tolerance way before any body else came in the picture...way before. And I assume, you got a dog in this fight (meaning you're a Jew)?

+ Nora Individualism was an interesting thing that you mentioned. I'm an Iranian student of English and Cultural Studies, living in Australia and I have found a stark cultural difference between Iran and Australia. The Australians are very nice, but as an Iranian who is used to lots of communication and many friends I feel very lonely here. I have realized that most people here are reluctant to communicate and it's not even because I'm an immigrant. I have observed the same thing about them in their own relationships. I don't want to generalize and I definitely don't know the Western culture that much, having lived in Australia for only 3 years, but I am starting to believe that it is the individualism in the Western culture that makes it so different from Persian culture. I rarely see a group of friends talking in our tutorial classes and normally they are only friends as long as they are in the same class. As soon as the semester finishes they forget who they used to talk to and don't even say hello to them (happened to me a couple of times). Friendships in Australia are usually working relationships and I have rarely seen people who have been close friends for more than five years (this is common in Iran; my sister-in-law is forty and still goes out with her high-school friends!) Sympathy and understanding other people's emotions is considered a norm in Iran. Although, lots of times I have seen unkind Iranians too, but they are never indifferent to you. They always try to understand others' emotions and they are very eager to communicate. I had my first real cultural shock here in Australia, where I went to a literature class and I saw everyone silently staring at their mobile phones rather than talking to each other. The class was so different from Iran, where the professors struggle to quiet the students. So I have been wondering a long time, why is that so? Is it because Westerners love their privacy so much that they see no reason for communicating with another? I don't mean to nag about Australians; they are very nice and peaceful people and intelligent and tolerant and going to university here has definitely been a great experience as the content we study is much better than in Iran. This is only an observation that I had and I really want to know what the reason behind this cultural difference is.
