YourCharismaCoach Hey Chris, I've seen your videos over few days and I am suuuper shy, luckly I have a good amount of self esteem. I walked out alone tonight (never done that). I saw three times 2 girls hanging around, each time subjection overwhelmed me. At last I was so frustrated of losing so many chanches that when I saw three girls I was like "I won't miss another chance what the heck". I catched up to them and said something like "Excuse me can I steal you a minute? I'm around here in vacation for few weeks so I went out to know some people.." We had a conversation just like in your videos, I was a little insecure but I kept eye contact and smiled all the time, they didn't even blink an eye when I asked their facebook :D.

Damn... I am already calm. As an introvert, I relly on internal emotions and I am very confident about what I feel about myself. The problem is the external. Making a conection with people and enjoying myself with that external emotion, the interaction itself. I end up loving myself more than other people and thus being alone, which is not good for anyone :/

Hey Marcus, I often see people mixing up introversion and social-skills. I was wondering what is your take on it. I see it as two different dimension, so you can have four extremes: 1) extroverted + excellent social skills 2) introverted + poor social skills 3) introverted + excellent social skills 4) extroverted + poor social skills It is clear that 1 and 2 are more likely seen than 3 and 4. However, I think it is a helpful distinction when improving your social skills. Because it means you don't have to change a character trait to become better socially, focusing more on skills. What is your take on that, Marcus?

Christian Brugger Hi Christian. Great question; i'll do my best to share my perspective. I feel introversion and extroversion are simply social labels in contemporary terms. They provide a starting point for self identification but then fall aside very quickly through self enquiry. I believe introversion and extroversion are simply expressions of how we manifest and guide our emotional energy, whether that be pouring them into social interactions, self reflection or otherwise. My feeling is that it is more wise to focus on the how you direct the energy than how you identify with it. I feel that the link between introversion and poor social skills and extroversion and good social skills is merely a by-product of modern pop psychology and many people don't ascribe to either label, until pressed. From my experience, if you are introverted then that may shield you from the experiences that would develop your social skill and influence. However, this is not always the case: I know extroverted people who have lousy social skills. To me, of most significance is the fallacy of associating introversion with a negative trait and the self flagellation that comes with it, which keeps people stuck.

YourCharismaCoach Here is how I got it: So for you it is about finding joy in time spent with people, as well as in time spent alone. That then shows in being able to let our emotional energy flow freely in social situations as well as in solitude. You then advice people to focus on being able to express both sides (by changing environments, learning new techniques like the one you presented here, or by improving different skills). Hey, I love that idea and see a lot a parallels to the path I have taken over the last years! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Christian I'd agree with your summary. I think the key thing is finding the balance between the two and accepting its alright to feel either. That introvert needn't be a negative label and its quite alright to enjoy yourself and your company. Likewise, it's fun to break the ice and see what happens and not to feel guilty if you don't. Best of success with your journey!

I am being an introvert. I am long hatred for being an introvert after I realized why I am weird to other people, feeling uncomfortable, and tend to think all the time as it was. I was realized emotional attachment affected too on healthy convo, especially in groups. Now, I am repressed all the time, trying to be carefree, and sometimes in a state of martyrdom. I found myself over-thinking really kills me. Victim of society.

Guillermo Bosque Hi Guillermo, I started as what can be described introverted then learned to become more extroverted. Now I sit between the two. I certainly find conversation and time by myself equally recharging.
