i really like this more uncut kind of style
The space clowns have to be a reference to Killer Klownz from Outer Space. That’s such a fun movie.
🔮🧙♂️🍄 Indeed!
Someone has been watching "Killer Clowns From Outer Space" at Wizards.
Spelljammer are windjammers (sailing ships) powered by magic, hence the name
So only just clicked on this vid to learn spelljammer stuff and already wanna watch more of you guys! You're a riot 😄
Im dying. I didnt expect the entire first 3rd of the video to be building up to one joke. Hahahaha.
Spelljammer (1989) likely named this because Wavejammers were released in 1987 and the name sounded good so they made a change to it. Also there are the following Spelljamers : - a ship or construct with a helm (minor or major) - THE Spelljammer - a massive powerful legendary Manta ray ship - there is only one and even if destroyed another appears (Google smalljammers) - a person that uses the helm on a ship that makes the ship fly (Sometimes all PCs get this title in some tables) - name of the setting The reason they had that mitosis for creating Crystal Spheres is because DMs make them (when they make a home setting) usually based on other settings. So one makes two. There are ships in sci-fi that are like the Starjammer ships. Jase and the Wheeled Warriors, Captain Harlock Universe and the Space Battleship Yamato shows his this trope has always had mileage. But more importantly notice that the tropes of Old SciFi all works great for Spelljammer because they share so much in common.
William laughing so hard he had to walk away is exactly what I needed this morning 😂
Sounds like someone saw Killer Clowns from Outer Space.
Everything that has mass will carry a certain amount of atmosphere with them, that last a length of time determined by the amount of mass. That's 2nd anyway.
I love the idea of the birth of a crystal sphere. How the astral is analogous to a dream dimension and the other multiverses (crystal spheres) come into existence as a IRL being (a DM) dreams them into existence.
24:52 they call them spelljammers because you used to have to literally jam your spells into the ship to fuel it, expending your spell slots for the day
I actually like Shardspace or Siberspace for Eberron's Wildspace System. Shardspace for the Ring of Siberys and the dragonshards that make up the ring. Siberspace just for the Ring of Siberys.
Listened to this episode on Spotify. Had to get on KZread to see William crack up at 15:05
If guys do more spelljammer videos I would love if you did one on the rock of bal and big Luigi! Also wonderful video as always and shout to demogorgon and his ixitxachitls homie!!🤟
Chris Perkins has said in an interview that the Eyemonger is the spiritual successor of the Aster-eater; it's basically exactly the Aster-eater with a new power, I think an anti-magic belly or something. The point is the Aster-eater has been acknowledged and left behind. Tragedy.
Dungeons and Dragons in "SPAAAAAAAACE"!
They are called spelljammers as a riff or homage to the original "tall ships" sailing term windjammer. this information is all old, a decent amount of information has been released about the new 5e spelljammer, for instance pholgiston is no longer part of the setting and Crystal Spherses just float in the astral sea.
"What the fuck, Spelljammer?!" Yeah, this pretty much describes the whole setting.
32:23 Digging that Animorphs reference
OMG Pennywise in clown space. LOL Giant deadly pies???? hahahahaha
I purchased the Spell-Jammer: Adventures In Space boxed set because of this video. Thanks for the great insight and opinions.
What a fantastic and helpful video even after the books release. Subbed.
Good way to mix Gods from different pantheons, creating new cyrstal spheres.
I feel like the gyms are alternate realities. A new one appears when the timeline changes
Love you guys!
Youre absolutly fucking amazing! I learned a lot of lore of dnd with you guys and i will make a campaign with mates soon!!! Youre style os cool!!!
William is def correct Crush & Squirt are the best. And then Bruce. 🦈 Fish are friends, not food.
With the sphere births i think both yours and the official one are similar. My thought is the official one represents someone creating their own campaign in an existing aetting and the official timeline of that setting, as their campaigns may not match. Thusly a new sphere would be birthed from the old. Where as I like your idea for an entirely new homebrew. Like almost a bigbang with an empty part of wild space having a singularity develop into the entirely new setting.
Yessssss they broke themselves... I friggin Love it. One of my favorites right here. I almost died no shit and what I was cooking while watching this is totally fucked now.lmfao
The poor Astereater…. You shan’t be forgotten.
the space clowns are literally the killer clowns from outer space
Wow what a sentence... LOL fantastic
Khyber Space should be Eberon's wild space system name
Spelljammer is a Cannery where jams, jellies, and marmalades are made, canned and jarred for æther traveling spelling bee champions.
Forgotten Realms 2: Forgotten Helms
RIP the phlogiston, they just straight-up made it the Astral Sea in the new stuff.

They don't talk about the phlogiston, but they don't say it doesn't exist. They DO mention crystal spheres, though. The way I reconcile it is that the phlogiston is still there, but they figured out how to leave the Prime Material Plane at the crystal sphere, entering the Astral Plane (which is really just a void more than an actual plane) because it's far safer and doesn't have the issues with currents. Newer spelljammer helms automatically make this jump, but can still sail the phlogiston if they wanted to, and there still stuff to find if you do.
I hope you link that perfect clip before the short rest. 😂
They are called spell jammers because of how they enter and exit wild space. The null magic zone allows for travel through the blind eternity which is essentially condensed mana
Will, you should give Brian a monster to present and you can ask the questions and crack jokes.

I reserved this set on Amazon at a discount 41.99 I think, it was supposed to release today, now it says shipping on the 24th but also says on the main page ships, September 7th. Did it get pushed back??

The release wasn’t pushed back, I think they had sourcing or printing problems. First time I didn’t get a preorder delivered on release day, though it did arrive day after. Yours get delivered?
The Brown Eye Monger.
No go bro. You don't go against the flow... Phhhsshht
That whole description is why I wanted dark sun instead. Jesus Wizards lol.
Hey guys! So, Killer Clowns From Outer Space came out in 1988. Spelljammer came out in 1989. This might fill in some gaps for you: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer_Klowns_from_Outer_Space
My Giff will have a cultural divide. Those who call themselves the Giff, and those who call themselves the Jiff.
If the realms are forgotten; how are we telling the stories? Wouldn’t that make them the Remembered Realms?
3:41 LMAO
Love the video, what is your favorite subclass and why is it eldritch knight?
They are called spell jammers bc there is an X-men group called the star jammers who are space pirates (cyclops’ dad is the captain) and is flavored a lot like the dnd setting. At least they are so similar that there has to be a connection there. Some dnd writer in the 80s probably drew inspiration.
I mean you kind of walk into "Um, Actually" comments when you don't read up on basic elements of the setting that are present in both 2E and 5E products like air envelopes before you start filming.
It's birthing multiverses. LOL
So easy a Ranger can pilot one. 🤣
