Awesome idea! Here are some ideas for their specific statues: "Newton holding a Crack pipe while a BGF gangster points a gun at him (actually how he really died). Assata Shakur covered in the blood of the State Trooper she and her accomplices murdered in cold blood! And how about 'ol Malcolm shown behind his deserved prison bars Or How about showing how his own damn people totally betrayed him and murdered him! Now that's Solidarity brother! Pathetic!@@

Oh yeah, probably because southerners still think slavery was just a bunch of jolly good black folk singing around a campfire waiting for their virtuous masters discipline. You're pathetic.

That would involve reading a lot of books. I read a lot of books as a child in the 1980s and I still read them. But the vast majority of Americans I come across are half literate. So this problem reaches back many years and affects many people in many ways (not just black revolution but all types of advanced thinking). I also visited other countries. The drive to read and think critically, to explore other societies and compare, has to come from within and only a small percentage of every population is like this.

Revolutionary Suicide. Huey died for the cause. He- a revolutionary communist, marxist leninist, and black liberationist- was percieved as such a threat to the ruling class that they had him executed (after subjecting him to slander, an unfair trial, to incarceration, drugs and addiction). Like Fred Hampton, Malcom X, MLK, Assata Shakur, Angela Davis; he was a black, revolutionary hero, and as such was targeted and harrassed, in his case until his death. Remember him. Honor him. Study study STUDY him! Carry on his mission. Onwards towards socialism!

There should be a statue of all of the Black Panthers in copper and bronze and gold. I like the suggestion by a viewer placed earlier where he suggests a statue of Huey - but all of the Black Panthers, including H. Rap Brown, Afeni Shakur, Assata Shakur and the founders of Black Panthers like Bobby Seale, and members lie Kathleen Cleaver, Elaine Brown, Angela Davis, Fred Hampton, George Jackson, Eldridege Cleaver, and so forth and so on. Honorary members like Fannie Lou Hamer, Kwame Ture....I wold love a government grant in art to begin this magnificent project. I am a sculptor who works in metal among other materials. Or, maybe, I'll do it myself. I'm enthusiastic about this becoming a reality.

Such a great interview. Such a great man! Such a great movement, the Black Panther Party, from whom we can learn so much for today! There is no other political group, since the BPP, that we can learn more from today. Panther theory and practice should be integrated into socialist revolutionary movements everywhere! There are many young people in the comment section, that want to be like Huey or carry on the Panther legacy, but don't know how. Here is some advice : Read Lenin and Mao, just like he did and understood and spread the word! Go out and organize. Be an activist. But know what you are fighting for and against, just like Huey did! Read Fanon's "Wretched of the earth". Read or listen to the speaches of Malcolm X, Angela Davis, Assata Shakur, MLK too. Read the classics to get a groundwork in theory and put it into practice! Read Marx, Engels. Maybe Alexander Berkman, Emma Goldman. Read socialist and social and national liberation classics and modern day analysis. Read Che Guevara, Rosa Luxemburg, James Connolly. Read and learn about the history of people's liberation, poor and working class liberation, social liberation and national liberation. Learn the history of oppressed people's liberation. Of the African liberation movements, the Irish liberation struggle, the Palestinian liberation, the Civil rights movement and the Black and indigenous liberation movements in the US. But don't overwhelm yourself. Stick to the history of the group and country, that you are a part of or affected by the most, in the beginning. Learn about imperialism, Colonialism, neocolonialism, Neoliberalism, learn what Capitalism really is. And how to fight all of those plagues on mankind. But read a bit of Marx and Engels. Definitely read "State and Revolution" by Lenin and his thesis on imperialism. Read Stalin's very basic and very understandable "Foundations of Leninism" and "Questions on Leninism". He doesn't give his own opinion, but just makes the works of Marx, Engels and Lenin very clear in 2 very short works. Also study Maos little red book, like the Black Panther Party did from day one. After reading the most basic theory, join a socialist or left wing,( black, Irish, Venezuelan, nepali) nationalist movement or organization. And test the theory through revolutionary practice! That's some advice of how you could carry on the work of the Panthers. All power to the people! By ANY means necessary! Workers and oppressed peoples of the world unite!

In what context did it took place? In 1967 there was a riot in Detroit, Michigan and in 1965 there were other mass proletarian protest and mobilization around the country and combat structures were part of them and kind of prepared them. So the general conditions of democracy exploited and the limit of revolutionary minorities were related to their lack of understanding of the need to fight and destroyed not just those conditions, but democracy itself.

@@razorsharplifestyle101hard9 sorry bro I have no idea what you are saying. The black panthers Inspired me too join the modern day brown berets and we are actively serving our communities so yes these groups are growing. If it wasn’t for cointel pro intruding crack into black communities and other things then the black panthers would have changed society even more then they did.

I love Huey, but I am afraid he is misusing the term “economical” here. What he means to say is “economic power”. The word “economical” means thrifty or cheap. Economic means having to do with economy.

“having a black person in office doesn’t mean you’ll have justice…” I agree. Look at Kamala Harris. Where has she been during her political term? She’s a far cry from that brilliant and fiery prosecutor I witnessed when she was a senator.
