I still have my Billy Pate, and a spare spool, given to me by Ted when I was doing features for various fishing and outdoor magazines. I will not part with it even though now I am only fishing for myself. It gets used for bass fishing around our coast here in England. It is such a well engineered reel.
Perfect timing finding this , I’ve been looking at getting one of these . Thanks for sharing
Awesome review. Thanks!
Cutting edge for it's time . I had 2 mounted on old Orvis trident rods and lost them to Hurricane Katrina .
Excellent video
Danielsson Control is a great alternative, if not better than the Billy Pate (still a great reel, I have the Bonefish). Less expensive, sealed (washers & carbon discs) drag, has a crazy engineered brake, you can switch the hand and it's easily available.
