Kelly Clarkson is by far one of the greatest female vocalists right now .She is brilliant in a league of your own .Queen Kelly no one comes as good as you singing live in concert .

She is one of the most underrated artists out there! She is an out of this world vocalist!!!!! She is up there with the greats like Whitney, Aretha, Mariah and so on.

Thanks for reviewing this. I’m happy that enjoyed it even though you wouldn’t consider yourself a fan. A couple of things - Breakaway isn’t one of her favorites. She didn’t write it (Avril Lavigne did) and her label forced her to put it on her album. While she can appreciate that it’s a well written song, she didn’t think it fit on that album and was frustrated with her label. I can see her choosing that one for the walk around because she isn’t emotionally invested in it. Speaking of no emotional investment, A Moment Like This is her song from winning American Idol but it’s cheesy, she didn’t write it, and most fans understand why she doesn’t perform it often. Kelly definitely embraces her American Idol roots, praises the judges & producers, and speaks positively but honestly about her experience however she doesn’t perform A Moment Like This very often. Her American Idol performance of Piece by Piece is definitely more iconic.

I love Kelly because of her music and she keeps the shows simple with just her and the band.. and she’s funny, so you nailed it on why people really like her. And “A Moment Like This” will be one of the songs that will change in the setlist.

Definitely agree with a lot of these comments. If you’re upset about breakaway and a moment like this you clearly aren’t her fan. Her fans would much rather hear all her other stuff. She is going to do A moment like this and I was so glad it wasn’t at the show I was at!

As a fan that voted for her furiously back in 2002, I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like AMLT 😂 She sang it beautifully but it’s cheesy and just not her. I like Breakaway don’t get me wrong, but it’s waaaayyyy down the list and if she wants to choose it for a little meet and greet I get it, it’s the easiest to sing lol. I much prefer the songs she either wrote or chose to put on her albums. Anyway he said he wasn’t a fan so I get his disappointment because those were songs he knew. I give him kudos for going and giving it a shot, I think he enjoyed himself for the most part.

The song from American Idol is A Moment Like This and it was written for the winner of the show not necessarily Kelly. Justin recorded it as well. I think most fans are ok with her not singing it.

In regards to her not singing A Moment Like This. This wasn't her first residency. I don't feel like she should be obligated to play that song, year after year, show after show, for the rest of her life...just because that's where she started. No, thank you. She's paid homage to it enough. Let her sing her newer stuff. ❣️

KC stan don't actually mind she is walking & hugging fans during Breakaway. Also that is the easiest song to sing in her catalog. Breakaway always a sing along w/ fans where she usually let the fan takeover singing half the song.

Okay... I've been to 11 concerts live... she switches things up.. to see what's best. Been to many concerts..1st one rolling stones......in the80s... Kelly by far is one of the few sounds like album live.... journey was the other... perfectly perfect

You’re disappointment over breakaway is interesting. As you mention, you don’t really listen to her. For regular fans, it’s not necessarily the song they go to the concert for.

When she first came out on turn I saw her, loved it thanks for in review, now got to see how a handicap person can fly to Vages, get transport to show and get back to airport and fly home. on a fix income.. It infect as an adult it is the only live concert that I have ever been too.

I’d totally go see her.

I LOVE Breakaway and it's the song that drew most of my attention to Kelly at that time. But throughout her long career, many songs had evolved and overshadowed Breakaway. And Kelly's fans should learn and know that Kelly doesn't take this song serious. It's clearly not her favorite and she kinda feel bored singing this song. I bet if it wasn't a big hit she would have rarely included it to her set list. Anyway, as a huge fan, this is total understandable for her to do this. But if you're a bigger fan of the song than you are of Kelly, then this might upset you. For me, Kelly is WAY BIGGER than this song and I am happy if she would just include it in the set list no matter how badly she butcher it on the show. If she sings it with big emotion (which she has rarely done that for ages), then I call that a bonus.

If I had to guess why she went out into the audience during “Because of You” it could be that as an already painful song it has taken on yet another painful layer with her divorce. It’s a fan favorite so she probably didn’t want to let them down but also didn’t want to get too emotional and felt doing some crowd work would buffer that? Maybe? Who knows? I’m a nobody on the internet 😂

Breakaway isn’t Kellys favorite song to sing she likes singing it with a crowd of people and that’s why she chose it to be the one where she goes out in the crowd

Literally, that’s exactly what her fans want. Breakaway is literally a snooze fest. She’s mentioned it’s not one of her favorites to perform and that she really only recorded it so she could get another song in the record.

Breakaway is referred to as the “bathroom break” song by some fans. I’m going to be sitting in those VIP seats she’s walking through and I won’t be going anywhere now! She said she’d sing A Moment Like This one night, I hope it’s not my night.

Just to give you a little insight on why she probably chose breakaway as the song to walk through the crowd to… She has said many times it’s one of least favorite songs and is very blah to sing since it’s not that challenging for her. However it’s a big hit for her so she needs to keep it in to some degree but her fans want to hear because of you, that’s her ballad not breakaway. She’s also been doing this for 20+ years and this is the first time she’s not fully sang breakaway, for me I would’ve hated if she used any other song on her setlist. Die hard fans would agree. But I respect you opinion!!

Excellent review. I've seen every show (my job) and she does a good show. I was very surprised, in a good way. She talks a little too much but that makes it more personal. Certainly not a scripted show like Miranda or Urban

It's her oldest song (other than Moment like this) so, I get why she'd walk thru & talk on that one. I've seen her 3 x's & she only did that song at 1. Her "fans" have heard her do Breakaway a million x's over the yrs so wouldn't be offended. I get your point tho...those less familiar with her discography, it's those songs they'll connect with the most. I'd say an 8 is pretty damn good for an artist not on your playlist!👌👊 Glad you enjoyed it overall.

"Breakaway" is the easiest song from a technical standpoint for her to sing in her entire repertoire really. That's probably why she chose to walk the crowd. She doesn't need to think or even try at all to sing that song.

I saw a video of her Breakaway walkabout before I watched this video and had the exact same thought!

Thanks for the review. I have to say that I find Breakaway to be boring. She has an extraordinary sry voice and extraordinary control of that voice. I hope she does a country album soon and gets her shot at broadway.

Breakaway is a mid tempo song, not a ballad, and it took you over 6 minutes to get to your review of the show? She walked through the audience to connect with her fans. It would have been cold and impersonal, if she had walked through the crowd just signing and ignoring her fans who wanted to connect with her. Who cares if she didn't sing it the way YOU wanted her to. She slayed the show regardless. Incredible artist, singer, songwriter, and great human being all around. She did not blow anything during her concert. Never does, never had, never will.

Honestly it was the perfect song for her to do that with for sure. She’s not emotionally invested, it’s easy to sing, I know her fans were ok with that. There are plenty of times over the years she has sung that song without distraction, she did awesome! As always!

Breakaway isn't a huge fan fave. It's the perfect time for her to do the fan interactions.

As a Kelly Clarkson fan let me address a few of your comments. First she can come out on any song, you didn’t like it because as you said “you thought” it was her best, a fan doesn’t care when she comes out. The second thing is about her Idol song A Moment Like This, if you knew Kelly you would know she has never liked the song and has sung it rarely ( I’m going with under 10) in concerts. Her fans are okay with that. If fans requested it Im sure I know she would do it. As a fan myself I want her to like what she sings and btw Breakaway isn’t one of her favorites either. We all know she can sing her ass off so why do anything more than that? Doing other things would distract from the genius that is Kelly Clarkson!

I do remember she opened her Meaning of Life tour with it a few times (at which time she changed “kiss” for “wish”), other than that though, mostly at the beginning when she won was she singing it. You’re right we don’t care lol. It’s cheesy, it’s not her, it wasn’t what she picked, “contractually obligated” just like From Justin to Kelly 😂 She killed it but we’d all prefer songs that she either wrote or chose for her albums. OH, I do remember during her tour for Breakaway (or it could have been Addicted, she did so many different tours off that album), she did a hard rock version of AMLT once 😂 It was funny. You’re right if it was a big fan favorite she’d sing it every night but we’d rather hear Sober or pretty much any other song in her catalog.

Breakaway is a throwaway song for Kelly fans lol. We love it and respect it for what it is …. We don’t need to hear her belt it out night after night. It’s not that song.

Breakaway was written by Avril Lavigne. Avril wrote it and gave it to Kelly. Kelly recorded it as a trade off with the record company for her to have her choices for that album (Breakaway). She sings it because it was a huge hit, but it’s probably not her favorite.

Just a couple comments.. I understand and appreciate your love for Breakaway, but its not close to her most popular song. She also said it's her least favorite song to sing, so it makes sense its her 'downtime' song. Anyways appreciate your feedback, i enjoyed it!

Just a couple things. I did like your review but I just want to clarify a couple things. A Moment Like This: Kelly has never tried to distance herself from American Idol. She’s still very much on good terms with Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, she’s had them on her show. She’s spoken highly of Simon Fuller who created the show. However she’s always been honest about the good things and the bad things about it. The song was not written for her, it was for whoever won that year. She hasn’t spent a lot of time singing it and it’s not because of AI in general, the song is just not her, if that makes sense? She sings it beautifully but her fans for the most part couldn’t really care about it that much. We much prefer her own catalog of songs she either wrote or chose. However I do remember she opened with it on her Meaning Of Life tour a few years ago after quite a while of not singing it. I think you wanted to hear it because it was a song you knew, and that’s fair enough. She will sing it at LV, but it’s not going to be every night. She’s got 10 albums worth of songs (she usually has around 14 songs per album, plus singles outside of albums released), she just can’t do them all. She’s gotta rotate and she has bigger hits than AMLT she has pledged to do nightly. Breakaway: It’s not a bad song but very easy for Kelly to sing. It’s probably the easiest of any song in her catalog as most of her songs are very vocally demanding. If she’s gonna do a meet and great while singing, that’s one she’s going to choose. Plus her emotional tie to it is minimal. But I understand it sounds like it was the song of hers you really liked so I get the disappointment. I can promise if you want to hear it normally without all the distraction, there are plenty of vids on KZread of her singing it live, all the way back to when it first came out. I know it’s not the same, but I envy you man, I wish I could see her live. I’d watch her sing the phone book, I wouldn’t care lol. But that’s me as a fan since 2002. Thank you for giving her a chance and going. It sounds like you had a good time overall. Thanks for telling us about it!

Also with Breakaway, she's said it time and time again, she doesn't really like to perform it because she can't really change up the song too much so she let's the audience chime in. And with A Moment Like This, she doesn't really perform it anymore because it wasn't a song she was involved with, it was the song the winner of American Idol was going to release. So if she didn't win American Idol and Justin Guarini did (the runner up of that season), he would've been the one to release A Moment Like This.

Avril Lavigne wrote Breakaway and she doesn’t seem to actually like it nor did she want it on the album but the studio forced her. So her using it for a walkthrough makes sense because her and a lot of her fans are pretty meh about it. It’s way more country than any of her other more soul influenced music

I watched this and you can tell you don’t know much about her. Breakaway is not a vocalist dream song it’s boring written by Avril it was on the princess diaries soundtrack. She prefers to have the fans sing it with her. Because it’s a song you knew you don’t want all the interruptions She didn’t sing the American idol song because the song wasn’t written for her it was written for the winner. She likes it for the moment. Her and Pink are the best live vocalists. She doesn’t need to use all the production her voice is enough.

​@@JoeInVegasReviewsI can understand why by the numbers you perceive Breakaway to be the song for her. She had issues with her former label not promoting or marketing a lot of her music well, but Breakaway was a song they wanted & on the soundtrack for princess diaries. So it got the exposure it needed to chart well. I feel though that many of us who've been fans for years though connect with the lyrics & emotion in her songs, plus her amazing vocal range. Breakaway just doesn't reflect that which is probably why people seem so offended by your pov. Tbh, I was confused by it bc it isn't a song I seek out when I go to play her music, and I wasn't aware how well it apparently charted. Just sharing my pov as a fan of hers through her whole career since Idol.

Thanks:-) these other commenters were making me feel like I'm crazy. LOL she needs to pick a more upbeat and less popular song to walk through the crowd. A lot of commenters were saying that she doesn't like singing that song. Still doesn't mean she has to mess it up for the fans who really like that song. Instead of walking through the crowd she can easily make that song a big sing-along moment for the crowd. I recently went to see Bryan Adams and there were a couple ballads where he literally turned the microphone stand around towards the crowd and let the crowd sing half the song. It was an amazing moment and one of the best moments of the night. If she did something similar and let the the crowd sing. It would being amazing memorable and emotional moment for the crowd. Also clips from that would go viral

I adore Kelly Clarkson & was waiting to hear one of her songs!! Disappointed, oh well. 😟😟😟

His channel went down last time over strikes because he was using clips with audio accompanying the video clips. Lost so much material and all of the following he built. Record companies and artists get pissy about it so, no more of that. If other channels are doing it, YT will strike em down soon enough.

Well it is all about personal taste. If there is one Kelly Clarkson song I skip it's Breakaway! I find it boring with a kindergarden melody. Can not come close to Because of you in emotion. That is my take on that.

@@JoeInVegasReviews yeah that's a crazy fan.. huge fan here, so I don't miss A Moment Like This either but I agree with you. Vegas shows are greatest hits shows with a lot of just casual music fans. I would definitely expect to hear Moment Like This if I was a casual fan. What's funny is her last main tour Meaning of Life had much more of a vegas feel (and included A Moment Like This 😀)

Been in the business over 20 years and is in her forties. I don't think she's considered young for the business LOL

If she does 'A Moment Like This', it will be one night only. Its one of her least favorite songs, and a lot of that has to do with how little control she had with that song choice.

Some of your takes are strange coming from a fan. NOONE would ever want to hear a moment like this. And breakaway is kind of a waste of a song, and the perfect song to walk into the crowd, it’s like a cheesy singalong. They were hot at the time but, not what we want to hear.

tough to do when the songs of her new album are about divorce. - promoting the album meant answering questions about her marriage/divorce, etc. It's the main reason she waited so long to release it (wrote the songs 3 years ago). Plus - her ex-husband is Reba's former STEP-son. She did have a son with her ex-husband - so they are half-brothers.

I got divorced shortly before she did, so I get it. We all get played. Might be a bit boring for people who can’t currently relate, but it’s therapeutic for her and some of us. She’ll move on don’t worry. She was quiet about it for a long time, just let her have this.
