Yeah. COVID is to blame. It made it harder to get the materials that are used to make it. Same goes for paints and other paint-related products out there.

Ridiculously priced now! I thought it was pricey pre-covid, but worth it. It's an awesome product! But now, over $75 per gal at the big box store!! I'm having to disregard some of my projects, it's just not worth it anymore. And yes, I understand a lot of the price hikes were due to supply & demand during the height of the pandemic but, a lot has recovered and resumed to standard business, these prices are not necessary now.

I sanded my banisters, applied bullseye, chipped off. Tried oil based then, lt still chipped off. So scrapped it all back and used BIN, still it's chipping off with a rub of the finger nail. Any ideas?

Yes use STIX primer I painted 9000 sq feet of 50 year old shellacked cedar and mahogany with STIX berceuse the BIN was useless for its ability to stick, if you use the STIX and have bleedthrough simply paint with bin once the STIX has dried, Bulletproof system maximum stick and maximum stain block.

In my experience, thin coat is stronger than thick with shellac.

I just bought some today, in the US. I noticed the formula has changed and it has less shellac and it smells less. My old can, it would dry within a minute, this stuff takes a bit longer.not sure about durability yet

Your surface is probably dirty. Use a heavy duty degreaser to make sure all oil and grease is removed

Covers the stain then you cant cover the bin itself without it showing through. If anyone knows how to cover it without having to paint the whole surface in bin let me know.

Make sure you clean the surface with a degreaser, let it dry, apply bin, thin coats, drys super quick so don't over work it. Most importantly leave it to cure! Don't paint straight away yes that's what it says but trust me, I leave my primer overnight. Do a scratch test the next day. The longer you leave it the better it gets.

In UK I use Fossa Block and Bond at around £20......Compare this to Zinsser Bin around £50. I've used this for years and it's easier to use than Bin.Passes any scratch test. If you want to pay more than you should it's your choice.
