I have studied both the Soncino and Kabbalah Center's versions of the Zohar. Those are laudable editions each in their own way, but both contain basically a translation of the original Aramaic and little commentary. The Pritzker edition is important because it contains voluminous notes on the inner meaning of words and passages that the earlier editions did not provide. Often the footnotes for a given page are longer than the actual Zohar passage. The notes help to make clear what the Zohar says in its cryptic way that often sounds utterly nonsensical. The Pritzker editions opened my mind to a multidimensional interpretation of the Zohar. This isn't mystical New Age mumbo-jumbo but a no-nonsense scholarly approach to the text that bases its interpretation on received sources which are painstakingly cited. The Pritzker family and all these wonderful scholars who worked on this edition have stored up Treasure in Heaven for themselves for sharing with the world this beautiful and enlightening commentary that allows the Zohar to come alive for this and future generations.

@@lightworker4512 i've never been a part of the Kabbalah Center except through its publications. Some of them, such as the book on sex, I ultimately found valueless. But I continue to study their Zohar volumes. What led you to believe it was a cult and decide to make a break from it?

When you get into the higher vibrations and out of “ body consciousness “ which is the conditioned mind. Conditioned by other humans over all the centuries through concepts, attachments, tradition through language structure itself. You realize the Zohar is about YOU. The best thing I have seen on YT. God, Adonai, Hashem, are words that describe the infinitely complex, and Zohar is one of the few scriptures that mirrors, to a part, that complexity, which at the same time can be understood simply, by the word "Love". Thank you!

The mitzvah of the Red Cow is specifically proscribed from the Book of Numbers, Chap. 19, in the plain text of that book of the Bible. The understanding of that commandment though can only be obtained by unlocking the deepest secrets of Creation. On the simple level, the reason for that commandment cannot be understood.

@@mikeanderson7962 your very support contradicts your first statement. The very word echad doesnt mean 1 as in a singular number 1. It means unit, or unity. The use of this word implies a complete whole in unity with multiple portions. If it is ever used as the number one, it is used also with a 2and, 3rd, etc. Behind it, which in Hebrew are also construed as plurals. They indicate 1 of x amount, a 2nd of x amount, a 3rd of x amount, etc. Think of mathematics. What happens when you get to 9? It rolls back to the 1 and adds a zero for a complete unit. This is the essence of Gods oneness. It's a completeness and unity. If you ordered a plate from a restaurant you wouldn't say give me 1 piece of steak and 1 glass of milk. The use of the number would not be required at all because there is no 2nd in question. Same thing with the Hebrew. This leads to two things, 1dt and foremost being that Deuteronomy 6:4 is specifically going out of the way to say God is a unity/plurality and NOT 1 as in an individual number, and IF it were doing that Moses would have used the word Yachid which is what he used to stress the number one. Abraham, take Isaac, your ONE and ONLY son(yachid, not echad). The very first word of scripture testifies to this as well.

G-d has attributes that we perceive as masculine and feminine. In the Holy One Blessed Be He, these attributes are all One. Think of how His attributes of Justice and Lovingkindness seem separate to us, but from His/Her perspective, these attributes come from His/Her Oneness. Both are Infinite, His attribute of Love and Strict Justice, and both seem to be the opposite of the other, but the G-d Who has these attributes is One.

Translating the Zohar into English is as useful as translating Shakespeare into Hebrew. Everything, meaning, rhyme, rhythm, alliteration, onomatopoeia, etc is lost in translation. It's a bad joke.

You can get close, but you will completely miss entire concepts of theology, where words derive their meaning from, how and why they're related and the ability to connect them with other scriptures as a new or intermediate learner. Just in the case of the first chapter of genesis. In the beginning (that word by the way means First in this context, not beginning, making the similarity even more obscure), created and blessing are all very closely tied together. All three have the same foundation and their usage is applied to a single common theme from the front to the back of all scripture and you will NEVER EVER EVER see that in any English reproduction. Translations work to get your feet wet, but that's all. Learning the original language is vital to full understanding and that's an understatement, not a flamboyant exaggeration.

I don't care how important a message could be; but when you have the moderator/introductory guy who can't find his words and every half of sentence goes .. _"uhhhh"_ .. _"ahhhhh"_ .. is extremely annoying. I couldn't get to the 2nd minute, .. had to shut him off. _Thumb's down_ of course! 👎
