So unfair. Beautiful models, but I wish someone told them "chin up and relax your shoulders". In the later 50's, models had better posture and they pace themselves better. And a lot of today's models have great posture and pace to 😉

I think the models represent a particular era when poise and deportment were important ,just as models of the present day represent the times. It illustrates how much everything has changed and not always for the better.

Note to self: my cousin-in-law Lady Rothermere at 0:55 in gold skirt and dead fox over one shoulder. Must share this with my parents who remember her well. She was 38 years old, nee Ann Charteris, second wife of Esmond Viscount Rothermere. Within a year Esmond had divorced her on the ground of her adultery and expecting a baby with the author Ian Fleming.

Considering the strange shaped ugly costumes and often dangerous things that pass as shoes they are forced to wear, I would guess the real emotion is embarrassment and fear of falling. Also, they know that no one in their right mind would wear any of it. They are dressed as freaks. Best to show no emotion and concentrate on not falling. Now the models in this clip were wearing clothing than any woman would be envious of. That plaid coat was amazing. You can tell it is all well made. Perfectly fitted. They knew they looked fantastic.

Elegant and beautiful clothes which mostly only a born woman could carry well. Mind, a few m2f's such as Elizabeth Taylor were the exception.

I think its because of the foundation garments? All of those models are wearing girdles, as is practically every woman in the audience. I assume its like the "S" shape that edwardian corsets created, pushing the bust forward and the butt back so it was near impossible to " Stand up straight". These seem like a waist cinch happening at the front rather than all the way around thus causing the pulled forward posture. Its amazing how different the walks are between today's models and models in the 50s. Now we have reed thin ladies leaning back and putting one foot directly in front of the other.
