When it comes to pricing, I always work in "hours of fun per £/$". I bought Abaddon for example, £37.50 for a 50 grams of plastic but i spent 100 hours painting him and then countless more playing him all of which were immensely satisfying. I even spend loads of time on my basic spod CSM's and give them daft names. As for the books the new subscription may be worth it if this is a main hobby, although, i love the feel of owning a book and reading all the material. Ultimately, it's definitely an expensive hobby but you can take it step by step and it gives you something other hobbies can't.

PS. in terms of not having complete weapon options, i think that is to increase variety used in the game and limit overuse of specific tactics. Reaper chain cannons for example, you get 1 for 5 Havocs because it's a beaassst of a gun.

I'm so happy for Mat. He found his passion and has so much fun. He doesn't look tired like before. But it's a bit sad for me because I absolutely can't get in strategy games like Warhammer. I want him to continue with it since I want the best for him. But it hurts how whenever I come to this channel and see how little he has posted I realize I have lost one of my favourire channels. Anyway really glad for you Mat.

You got me into warhammer. I started by watching your "journey to warhammer" videos, then kind of forgot about it when the lockdown started. Cut to early summer and I remembered Magikarp was getting into 40k with Bricky, so I looked around and found dicecheck. Now I'm like 3000 points deep into the game, have made some great friends, and learned that I love painting.

I felt very similarly about gundam model kits, which I also got into this year. Not only was it a really relaxing hobby to do with your hands, but it also allowed me to get into an artistic side of myself with painting. I had never really done anything art related in my life, and it so much more satisfying than playing an online game.

It's pretty amazing how many people and content creators made this great shift into Warhammer at the beginning of COVID. I was one of them and it's weird to say but it's improved my life in a lot of ways and allowed me to achieve a lot of goals in life I didn't even know I had. I'm glad to see a game that has such an unfortunate stigma surrounding it is such a generally friendly and welcoming place. I don't know your pre-Warhammer content, but I went down a rabbit hole and watched a lot of your Warhammer stuff today and the enthusiasm, joy, and love the game's given you is clear as day. It’s thanks to the original videos that I got into Warhammer in the first place. The aspect of gaming but with something physical and tangible with friends who represent themselves entirely to their own likes in a game drew me in and got me into the hours of sitting down building and painting little plastic guys. I can whole heartedly agree that the positives outweigh the negatives, and that Warhammer is such a great, geeky, but always interesting hobby to be into and I thank DiceCheck and many other KZreadrs for keeping me interested.

You have no idea how close it hits me. I'm totally new in WH (started playing literally few months ago but i'm in universe for YEARS now through my brother, i studied lore since i was like 9) but i love it. All things you said about acomplishment that you didn't get in video games, making rosters before sleep etc hits so close to home for me that it almost went awkward. I'm collecting a Grey Knights army, have around 1000 points in models by now unpainted which isn't much but it's definitly a start. I'll try to paint my very first models soon enough and i'm really excited about it. I just wanted to share that. This video hits so close to home for me that it's incredible. Especially when i think about that I started watching you years ago because of LoL (in which i was a b*tch haha) and you were quickly my fav LoL youtuber out there (i remeber watching your playlist for like a whole night few times) and that year ago you started to make WH content where I went like "NO WAY, YOU GONNA MAKE WH NOW?!" and was so happy about it. And it's a nice feeling that you know, your some kind of favourite or very likeable "public person" is doing something that you are totally relatable to. Made me smile ;D Thanks for that.

Glad you are enjoying the hobby so much! Been following this journey since it's inception. As someone who has primarily played Horus Heresy for the last decade or so your ramblings on FW are dead on......the QC has only gone downhill in recent years (likely due to switching to CAD sculpts) and not to mention THE GOD DAMN RELEASE CYCLE. And some of the kits are just an awful building experience regardless of if some of the major pieces are warped or not, the dreaded storm eagle / fire raptor kits as a prime example, the dual plastic / resin combination was sent from the bowels of hell itself. Its enough to drive a man insane.

Top 3 things I love about Warhammer (AOS and 40k) as a viewer (not played a single match of the Tabletop since it's not _that_ famous in Germany, at least not in my reign): -The live battle reports. It's so damn interesting to see new tactics, new armies, new maps, learning all the moves and crossing fingers when the dice getting rolled -The books. My god, I've read so many books, Ciaphas Cain, Gaunts Ghosts, even Warhammer horror like Dark Harvest. I love love love the books!! -The community. As Matt already explained, the community is just so wholesome, everyone is there to help and answer any question, no matter how stupid it sounds for Warhammer "veterans" :D Glad Matt brought me to Warhammer😊 The Emperor protects!

While I'm not really into warhammer (outside the lore) I'm so happy that Matt has gotten a hobby that he finds creatively fulfilling

Thinking about your hobby even when not playing is smth I do in Cardgames (lor atm). Sometimes I would wake up in the night with a cool idea, make some notes on a piece of paper and just try it out the next day

Yeah, talking about the box options not supporting the build options, I feel your pain. For a while, as a Tau player, a big unit of 9 Crisis Suits with 3 Cyclic Ion Blasters on each was top end. Unfortunately, the only GW source for CIBs, is from the $55 Tau Commander kit, and you only get 1 per box.

My pet peeve with Warhammer is that the space marine packs only have ultramarine transfers, meaning if you collect ANY other chapter, you need to buy an extra transfer sheet. What makes this more annoying is that they used to include a transfer sheet with all the major chapters, but I think in 8th edition they changed it to just ultrasmurfs for no apparent reason

My boss just got my entire store into Warhammer this last month and I just finished painting my first 600 points. I have to say I've been loving it so far

You're getting into warhammer the best way; Work on a small army first, paint it, build it and play it, It feels amazing watching an army grow.
