So sorry about the losses. I suspect a rat or more likely one of weasel, mink or polecat caused the deaths. It accessed via the trap and killed them on the floor. In the dark the pigeons in fear try to fly away but end up landing on the floor becoming more victims in the process. I lost 20 birds some years ago in similar circumstances.

2 years ago I found all 19 of my pigeons dead just like yours. 18 were in the loft and I found the 19th have eaten on the loft roof. I suspected a pine martin and this suspicion was confirmed, when it returned the next night and was caught on my camera trap.

Cat had my recessive red about two week ago and the rest of the birds were traumatised and never returned. Unrelated tip ;) cats are seriously insatiably attracted to antifreeze, most mamals like the smell and taste.

Fix all the holes in your loft.

Defo a mink mate, a lot of people dont realise how tiny weasel are, 4-10 centimetres, it wouldnt have the strength to pull the bird through the wire until is head came off, weasel dont kill surplus as much as mink, they will go into a coop, loft, cages, etc and kill everything, its horrible to see 😞
