These are great tips. I'd also add that rejection is a natural part of the submission process. Every author faces rejectin. No matter why you're rejected (you're still building your craft, there was a huge number of submissions, etc), you still have to keep practicing your writing and submit to gain any ground.

Thanks for the advice. This was very helpful. I’m brand new and have never been published.

Thank you for another great video with helpful information, especially the part about not stressing over the cover letter (which I do.)

I did everything you said, costly. Although I send something my editor said is great, worth publishing, the reader has to have the same interests, likes, dislikes as the author. It doesn’t matter if the author’s story is the best ever written because if the editor doesn’t like it, they won’t publish it. What a waste of my hard earned money, time, and talent. I will self publish after my editor goes over my work. I trust her. I trust my stories.

I was wondering if you know any small time magazines or publishers that cover instrumental music?

Here's a question that I can't get answered. Should a novel-in-short story be in italics or quotation marks?

Hi, I have a question for you. I recently wrote a short story that has many of the attributes that you mentioned in this video. I want to submit my short story to the right magazines. Do you have any suggestions? What are some literary magazines you would recommend?

How about my life as a Bouncer in N.Y.C ?- Lots of interesting seedy things I saw in the nightclubs. I just finished my story. Waiting for it to get Formatting and a pop out cover
