An Edgy Vase! - Wood Turning
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is a cutoff piece of Weeping Birch that I turned a bowl from a couple weeks ago. Not as punky but just as spalted. It can hold dried flowers and it has an interesting ledge that goes almost all the way around the top that would be a good landing spot for cute little figures. Finished in shellac.

Spalted wood of any kind has always been a firm favourite of mine as the spiderweb effect of the affected wood is so beautiful. Cannot wait to see how this one turns out as always.

@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop oh I can confirm that I loved it and was not at all disappointed but I’m always amazed how much you can make out of sometimes a very little piece of wood that some people would not be able to create something special.
I’d like to say thank you as I was one of the guys that said turn the corners & that’s the first time anyone has listened to what I had to say!

It's so kind of you to listen to our input! The vase is beautiful with its intricate spalting and papery bark. I've never turned anything on a lathe and probably never will, but I enjoy a relaxing visit at Shady Acres watching the wood shavings fly. I'll check out your friend's video for sure. Take care, and thank you for showing us the creation of this great piece. 😊

That unworked chunk of Weeping Birch, looked like a big ham butt, which made me hungry for Ham, Sweet Potatoes, String Beans, and Apple Sauce for dessert. That's exactly what I made us for supper. I saw this piece in your other video and it made me hungry for a ham dinner then. This time I went for it. Thanks for your inspiration for our supper and a lovely vase.
