    @@lucpraslan ???? Is English not your first language.??

  • @lucpraslan

    @lucpraslan

    Жыл бұрын

    @@stringer-ik1pc Ok dear, my first language isn't the issue here. If @stringer etc had written, "Her Spanish audiences are much more funny," but the show had been filmed in Peru, that statement would be incorrect. To say "Spanish audience" means that the audience comes from Spain or it was filmed in Spain. In this example, the audience would have been Spanish -speaking but Peruvian. To describe the audience as Spanish would have been wrong. So, back to your beef... The above comment by @stringer etc, "Her English audiences are much more funny," says to us, the reader, that these audiences they are referring to are from England or it was filmed in England. Now as you know, in this video, most of the people in that audience were Australians and it was filmed in Australia therefore the audience is Australian, it's an Australian audience. Did @stringer etc mean to say, "Her English-speaking audiences are much more funny?" From what I know of Barry Humphries, he always performed in the English language. So whether in Australia, the UK or the USA, his audiences always would have been English speaking. I think @stringer etc is drawing a comparison between American and English audiences. To me, Humphries' American audiences were never quite as vibrant or "much more funny" as his English or indeed Australian audiences. That is what @stringer etc is noting here. Now, why put that comment on a video with an Australian audience? Either @stringer etc was posting a valid but somewhat perhaps inappropriately placed comment, or @stringer etc mistook the Australian audience in the video for an English audience. I suspect the latter. In case you were wondering, I do speak English now, but whether or not it is my first language actually has nothing to do with anything.

    How can a professor not take into account that most probably Bruce will be taller than most women, have big knees, wide jaw, and big hands and feet, all of which amount to a very unattractive girl. OMG the “learned” professor created a monster - analogy Frankenstein- and that’s how it turned out. Apologies, Professor Money, but a man CANNOT fully understand what it is like to be female. It’s our thoughts, feelings and reactions that make us female. I cannot understand what it is like to be male. I have observed you lot for over 60 years but I can never stand in your shoes. Conversely, many years ago, I had the privilege of working with a transsexual solicitor. She was beautiful, extremely intelligent, well educated, kind and considerate. She had amazing class and style - always dressing in designer clothes. I don’t know what to conclude. Obviously, my work colleague knew exactly what she was doing and she appeared to be happy. Interestingly, she was married to a gay male. What does that mean, if anything?

    Well Joy, what exactly are you attempting to convey ? Is it a deprecation of the great actor that Barry was in his portrayal of a larger than life prima Donna, Dame Edna.....or perhaps a Wokish attempt to defend the real life trend of men who pretend to be women without humour. Or maybe women who wish to play the role of a male. I just want to reply by saying.....Barry Made us laugh and when we take life too seriously and look to find fault in humour then perhaps one should remember that laughter is the tonic that sweetens the difficult challenges and seriousness of everyday life.
