Me too ! In 2023. His sharp wit was side-splitting. He used to do gentle, naughty pranks on buses and trains before he became famous. I'd loved to have seen that. I adore him. 🤣💘💥

World is much sadder without Barry's genius comedy & observations. Funny, intelligent, humble. RIP 😔💐

Barry Humphries is of course an intellectual Giant, who is incredibly insightful and intelligent. But not only that, he looks at people in a compassionate, as well as a critical way. More than anything, he can cut down overinflated egos with humour, and that makes him so special. I think Barry Humphries is first and foremost, a very kind person, and I love him.

Dame Edna feels so much like a real person, hard to imagine she isn't, funny and amazing actor.

I was privileged to spend an evening with Dame Edna during her Final Farewell Tour at the Los Angeles Ahmanson Theatre in 2015. It was blissful evening with the brilliant and magnificent treasure, Barry Humphries and his beyond-delightful persona, Dame Edna... truly a night I have and will never forget. He was an absolute one of a kind and a gift to us all. RIP, you funny man.

I was there at the Ahmanson Theater for her Farewell tour. I love Dame Edna Everage. I saw her several times through the years and Dame Edna will really be missed. Barry Humphries was a genius.

Stopped watching BH but now he's gone I renew my interest and see again his fantastic fun and skill. Genius yes but intelligence is the stand out quality - and rebellion. Good Man. RIP.

I remember the first time I saw Edna on British TV, and I had no idea who she was. We were laughing hysterically, and so we're the people she was insulting. It was clear that they enjoyed her attention. What a brilliant character.

Such a loss of a wonderfully talented man ! Another Icon gone.

40 years old and I'm still young enough to only appreciate him JUST now. I never revised my view of Barry from a youth in the 80's and 90's. No wonder the hype, I mean... wow. I get it now.

I laugh & laugh & laugh as much the 30th time I watch him as I did the first time. Clever, sharp, quick witted comedy that covers everything faced by people in societies throughout history. It will never age because the same situations will always exist in the future. I believe his body of work should be restored digitally so the generations ahead can see how a true comic genius magnificently applied his art. Brilliant stuff, thanks for posting :-0

This is excellent. I saw Dame Edna at the Rooty Hill RSL a few years ago. She was bang up to date with all the latest nonsense and skewered all of it. In the most appropriate venue.

Barry Humphries is a GENIUS....an amazing man. Love you to bits.

How wonderful to get to see this performer after he is gone.

As a personal note, a mate and I many years ago went to a London theatre to see her and dreaded that she would pick on us in the third row. Fortunately, she chose a woman in the audience and asked her to describe her bathroom. Well, it was a sublime performance by Edna, only matched - indeed, was quite surpassing - when we went to see her a few years on. I have to say that I laughed so hard I felt on the edge of wanting to throw up. Pure genius. RobertK.

Stratford, "A half-timbered car"...... That line has stuck in some rusty old filing cabinet deep in my lizard-brain..... I may have been nine or ten, but that beautifully comic observation has lain there for decades...... Thank you Barry x.

G ELGAR, snap!! I was about 12 or 13 when I saw that, and thought that line was the funniest thing I'd ever heard, especially as that was our family car at the time. And I still found it hilarious hearing it again on this video, so many years later, but not forgotten.

Unlike other comic genius’s like Peter Cook and Spike Milligan who had their ups and downs, Barry Humphries was consistently the consummate performer throughout.

Listening to what Barry had to say about alcohol and AA in a fantastic interview with David Walliams and Matt Lucas really helped me realize I was fucking up very badly. It took some time but I'm now sober 18 months and for that I'm eternally grateful to Barry for steering me in the right direction. If anyone reading this is having problems with alcohol or addiction and you really want to stop, there is help out there, you've just got to go. Don't be afraid and go to an AA or NA meeting, they are not cults no matter what your addiction is telling you. They are the start of the journey to beat your disease. Everyone there has been through what you have been through and a whole lot more, you'll be very surprised at the people you meet, their stories and how they are now in recovery and if you want to stop going, you will never be harassed, the door will always be open for your return.

Everything Edna has done is just wonderful, but Sir Les is my hero. One of the times I saw him on British tv he said he had really invented the Australian film industry {that was very big at that time} but never been given the credit for it, he said he had suggested a movie called "Piss up at hanging rock" I fell of the sofa laughing Bless you Barry

Barry actually comes from the affluent suburb of Camberwell, and was the son of an architect. He love the name Moonee Ponds (an actual suburb) and ran with it

His gift to us is his ability to make us forget our troubles for a while.

Awe, this legend was utterly unique showing humour in a range of styles that always came from the heart even giving self-worth to many after ridiculing them. Used to turn the negatives to positives in such a humours way & an amazing character throughout. Felt privileged witnessing the legend @ play + a tear came to the eye during old episode = 'an audience with Dame Edna Everage' recently. GREAT stuff & whattah singer too eh... Awe, bless Barry..😢❤

Without doubt one of the funniest comedy act ever, he never needs to use bad language during his act, innuendo is his weapon and it's fantastic, sadly I doubt we will see any more of Les Patterson as an act with all the spitting and saliva during this pandemic wouldn't be seen as funny although he could wear a visor and give us a laught

My French wife and I were married in a restaurant in Moonee Ponds (Melbourne suburb) - something I have paraded for forty years now to people who still think it is an imaginary place.

(guest) Sir Les is SO revolting! But so very funny! The contrast with Dame Edna is extreme : how clever to invent these two! 😊
