That's probably why people think her beauty should shine through the fact that she's essentially a magical creature, which Demacians find absolutely disgusting. I do, however, agree that J4's type shouldn't be what influences her design. Even if that were the case, if j4 was into what was "conventionally attractive", he wouldn't crush on a half-dragon in the first place. it'd be better to emphasize what makes her different

I feel it is the draconic aspects that get Jarvan interested beyond the beauty. Yes, she is beautiful, but she looks like no other woman in all of Runeterra. She is unique and exotic in that way. Not to mention her saving his life gives him a different perspective on magic and magical creatures. I honestly wish she played a bigger role in the magical civil war going on right now because her relationship with Jarvan would be a very interesting story.

@@TyranusRex721 Realistically speaking there wouldn't be much of a relationship to speak of, if Jarvan continues his own discriminatory actions against magic. He is still under the Mageseeker's thumbs and can't simply choose not to be and not have to deal with consequences from that. And Shyvana, as proud as she is, would not simply roll over and accept this. She works hard to earn the acceptance of her peers and it's never enough because ultimately she can't make herself *not* be who and what she is. People think that Jarvan and Shyvana getting together would magically make Jarvan see that magic isn't so bad and things would be fixed but you can't just break the worldbuilding of your fictional world to have some easy fix it solution, and Demacian politics would not be so easily soothed by this. Though the tension between the two through this would still be an interesting read, if pulled off well.

I don't even play Shyvanna, but I voted her literally because of how much potential she has to be awesome! I mean, she morphs into a fucking dragon!

I also started league around 7 years ago and was totally hyped about a female warrior character who transforms into a dragon - but when I saw her ingame and played with her I was totally underwhelmed. I am surprised Mister Subjectively played her for so long and often especially since he also has high visual standards and - subjectively speaking - good taste

I feel bad for nocturne. When they reworked fiddlesticks, they literally took Noc's fear thematic and went "nah, that's fiddlesticks now". I always see people say that nocturne is just shitty fiddlesticks even though fiddlesticks stole the whole fear thing from him in the first place.

@@Offisian With the current lore yes, you can say that he was the fear demon from the beginning. The thing is, Fiddle's lore changed with his VGU so before that ''the fear demon'' was labeled as Noc but he used/still uses dreams and nightmares of other people to achieve it. So in a way Fiddle stole Noc's candies and kicked him in his stomach. Noc needs this rework.

A buff woman covered in scars is one of the most attractive character design ideas in my opinion 😳. Obviously I want female characters to explore design ideas other than what makes them attractive, but I definitely think that there are many other ways to make female characters attractive other than the hourglass body figure that we see so often in media.

Arcane showed us how cool it could be to women characters with actual personally in their faces. Sevika was one of our favorites, and we’d love to see that kind of look in an in-game champion someday soon

I don't play League, but even I can see the injustice here. For a powerful warrior capable of assuming the even mightier shape of a dragon, her dragon form sure does look like a malnourished chicken in scant armor with paper fans for wings...and the human one is just ridiculous. I'm *desperate* for a Shyvana rework, I'd love to learn to play her on the back of a nice fresh design that makes her cool again like with Volibear.

If Shyvana gets an update, I would actually love for her humanoid form to incorporate Demacian armor/ visual elements to tie her to the culture she lives in. This could also help to bring out a greater difference between her two forms: In her human form she is restrained by the Demacian culture in white and silver armor, while her dragon form shows her finally unleashed and fully fiery and raging!

i used to think the same, but since i play LOR I think that it would ruin her lore cause she has her own squad and their armors are red with golden details and a card that's from her squad says something like "we wear red to honor the fallen"

As interesting as a Shyvana VGU is, I feel like it'd be fine for her to get an ASU instead. It's why I personally voted for Skarner instead. I feel like he just needs it more from a gameplay and design

Even if it was enough, which, as others pointed out, it isn't, ASU isn't an option for her. Riot confirmed that candidates for VGU won't get an ASU instead, so it's only a matter of "when", not "what".

Shyvana's been one of my 3 mains since I started playing and it hurt everytime to see her dragon form, she could be so much better, not saying the other champs dont deserve but I'm sure Shyvana's vgu wont disappoint anyone

@@Igot4balls Nearly honestly, or just cover her up properly, make either her own form or the armor show that she is a mighty dragon and not a stick figure of a Wyvern, she took down an enraged fully grown mother afterall, SHOW. IT. Y'know?

Also, here’s the thing - while most reworks retcon a character’s lore and have their appearance change to fit that new lore, Shyvana’s lore is more likely going to be a PROGRESSION of her current story, kind of like Udyr. Her involvement in the Ruination event, where her resentment towards Demacia is used by Viego to control her, kinda tells me that the writers have no plans on changing her story significantly. (Why involve her backstory in such a big story event if you already plan on changing it?) So her new appearance is probably going to follow from where her story leaves off. She could really be… anything after this. Maybe she escapes Demacia and embraces her dragon heritage, becoming more monstrous. Or maybe she tries to control her draconic side and goes to Ionia like Udyr. (There’s a blind monk there who happens to struggle with dragon powers) The sky really is the limit here

I love Shyvana, but I feel like Skarner just needs it more, at least Shyvana has players and a playstyle that holds up quite a bit as AP. An ASU would be better for her in my opinion.

We hear this argument a lot, but the amount of fan feedback incorporated into past VGUs gives me hope that as long as the broader fanbase is united in wanting her to look more monstrous, they will. Literally any change would be an improvement - all of her skins have been released in the past decade- Riot has been sacrificing her dragon-ness for sex appeal since launch. A VGU would mean that they'd do something different!

I'm conflicted here cuz I do want her to win and get a more badass kit/dragon form. But I feel really uneasy about her possibly becoming more brutish lol. I would hope it would go like Illaoi. I think it would be pretty cool actually if she started to look more like you drew as her fury bar filled up. That would really sell the fantasy and tie together what people want, pretty and scary.

10:35 exactly. I think media in general needs more body diversity, especially for women. I don't play league much, I'm a filthy casual. But when I do, I always pick the closest champion that's the opposite of "hot lady with big boobs". I wanna play as beef wife with demon squid god or blue hair gonna-blow-everything-up gremlin or maybe if she gets updated I wanna play as angry purple dragon lady. It's fine to have a sexy anime lady in something, but when that's only female body type, as a gremlin myself, it honestly gets kinda annoying

Are LoL dragons magic? If they are then Shyvana could have some petricite armor or chains on her to help her suppress dragon form. When she ults the petricite breaks and the dragon comes out.

they're all elemental drakes from Ixtal...also the petricite armor is really good and does make more sense than the current red armor thingy (personally, she does not need much armor cos her scales alone can tank both physical and magical damage)

Demon lore and Demonology in League has always been my favorite branch of the lore. Nocturne has always been the odd man out in that case. It's less about who he is now, but what he COULD be. They've knocked it out of the park with every other demon, and I'd love to see more.

Your channel was the first thing I thought of when I heard that they were considering giving Shyvana a VGU!! Hope that they can do something as neat and well thought-through as your design.

Bit of an odd take, especially since I agree with the sentiment to cut down on all the hot anime characters trend, but I feel like a "sexification" of shyvana could work if the intention is to highlight her dragon form. Makes sense story wise too, since due to her time in demacia, she's been tying down her dragon side best she can so her human form looks, well, human. But then she finally breaks the chains she keeps on the beast within and erupts in flame and ashes when who she truly is surfaces and wreaks havoc in a badass dragon form. If they use anime characterification for contrast with her natural dragon form, then I'd be fine with it or even agree with it since it would highlight a key struggle for in the story.

Really believe you deserve more attention on this channel. Your videos are great. I love the idea of a battle-scarred but unbreakable Shyvana. Knicks and scars in her scales/chitin/armor and skin would be really cool. One thing I always thought was strange was how pristine, shiny, and bright colored her armor was. I wish it was something more like Sejuani in a way. Roughed up and is no stranger to battle. I liked the sharp and fierce look and darker purple tone you used for her face, but felt the braids seemed out of place with that design. Could just be me, loved it either way.

About shyvana's relationship with Jarvan. I think it is much more interesting if Jarvan's feelings for Shyvana are mostly one-sided. There are something about the power dynamics of Shyvana being loved by the most powerfull person of the society that only barely accepts her which i think could be super interesting to explore.

Excellent points all around. Some comments: I do believe that, in terms of gameplay, Shyvana needs that VGU the most. The reason? She doesn't have a niche anymore. She used to be the premiere unkillable raidboss frontline... but with season 11's item rework, half the juggernauts in the game can do that better. She used to have the fastest jungle clear in the game- but with jungle camps getting weaker every season and more champions being forced into the role, this isn't the case anymore either. Zed and Talon, the traditional midlane assassins, can easily outfarm her. And even the AP build is outclassed by almost every other mage in the game because it can only deal damage in dragon form, which constitutes maybe 20% of your total uptime, and lacks any sort of utility outside of a nuke on a long cooldown. You might as well play Veigar and call it a day. I, too, have played Shyvana for multiple seasons and I know my champion is suffering. She literally doesn't have a passive outside of the drake-killing thing while modern champions have multiple, just for funsies. Shyvana's dragon form looks like someone elongated a crocodile and taped umbrellas to its arms. Seriously, that thing hurts to look at. Also- I'm pretty sure the Shyvana x J4 ship is canon, or at least heavily hinted at. Her lore could definitely explore her relationship with the prince AFTER Viego's invasion and Sylas's mage rebellion. I think in LoR she's been relocated to a distant outpost on the Demacian border to fight off dragons, and she even made some human friends. There's a lot of stuff you could do with her. In terms of conventional attractiveness- I do think that, contrary to popular belief, Shyvana is one of the few champions where attractiveness does matter. Her whole schtick is that human vs monster thing, and appearance plays a big role in that. I'm not sure if she should be beautiful but dangerous, or on the scarier side yet with a heart of gold, or some combination of those things, or something else entirely- that's for Riot to decide. I do hope they don't go for the generic anime dragongirl, though, that's missing the point. Look, Trydamere's rework isn't going to remove his crazy scaling and splitpushing, or change his ultimate. It's even going to smooth out his dice-roll laning phase and below average teamfighting, essentially leaving him with zero weaknesses. Ever heard the saying, 'better the devil you know?' Yeah. Who knows what monstrosity Riot will churn out. If you wanted to vote Tryndamere because you don't like him- think again. Kog'Maw? Kog'Maw is- controversial opinion here- basically fine. All he needs is an actual passive and he's all set, the rest of his kit is fine as is. He's been having a great time with the new Lethal Tempo too. Riot wants to turn him into a traditionally scary void monster and possibly remove his AP artillery mage playstyle, which I think is also a pretty terrible idea. Let us keep the cute lil void pupper :c Nocturne's actually pretty strong. He saw a few months of solid play last year and is still relevant this season with the new Axiom Arc- while he definitely needs a visual update, I think he can survive without a full rework for a little bit. Yes, his thematic is a bit lacking compared to the other demons, but he's MUCH lower on the priority list. Skarner... I will admit, Skarner also needs some help. One thing though- Skarner *still has his niche*. In a back to front teamfight, Skarner can always do his thing- click on a priority target and drag them to their doom. Into the right teamcomp, Skarner is a force to be reckoned with- point and click suppression is stupidly powerful, no matter what champion it's on. This is never the case with Shvyana. Like I said earlier, there's nothing she does that another champion feels better. They also said that they're looking to change Skarner's lore and thematic, possibly moving away from the ancient crystal scorpion direction and sweeping that whole Seraphine debacle under a metaphorical carpet. We're not letting them get away that easily, are we? Alright. That's all I have to say. Please vote Shyvana.

She is loyal to J4, which doesn't mean she's in love with him. Loyalty does not require love, love requires loyalty. So they could be shipped eventually, but in current lore they aren't. This channel's vision for Shyv's dragon form is thematically cool, but a big purple she-beast Mundo in red armor is definitely not the way to go for her human form.

Definitely with you man. I play Shyvana in wild rift as my main and I love the idea of her gaining a small change when she takes out one of the dragons.

Ok so I think that Shyvana being a skinny dragon is actually really good. When she is in her human form she still retains some draconic features. She is not just a regular looking human. So by that logic I feel that when she becomes a dragon, she should still have some humanoid features. Having long skinnier legs and a more upright posture, makes them look more like elongated human legs. I actually like that as a design element. She is a half dragon, not a dragon. It is kind of like how good lycanthrope designs keep recognizable humanoid features in the body shape. I do think Shyvana should have a pretty thin and slender waist. As a dragon she is based on traditional European dragons and wyverns. Most renditions of those depict them with a very thin waist and a very broad chest/ribcage. I think that should be reflected in Shyvana's human form. I'd personally make her waist a bit taller and more slender than it is now, to really reflect that element (mostly to make it more visible in game). One element of Shyvana's design that I think needs to stay is her armor. Especially the fact that the armor parts she uses as a weapon while in human form, become part of her worn armor in dragon form. I think that is a clever design choice and it should stay. Also her ponytail armor becomes the armor you see on the dragon's spine and tail. Another element that I would absolutely keep. Her skin being sort of bluish with visible scales and plating should stay as well. Especially the plating on her abs, which of course reflects the abdomen of a typical dragon. I would keep her abs uncovered to show this very distinctive element, which is so well known on dragons. I would make some of her scales pop out a bit more, because atm it does seem a bit like they're just painted on in her splash art. They need some depth. In her dragon form I would still make it so she walks on her wings. This is mostly to keep her having 4 limbs instead of 6, as I think that works better with her half dragon character. I would also keep her armor and clothing relatively bare, kind of like how it is now. Too much armor seems like it would hinder her going into dragon form. I think more strategically placed armor that translates well into her transformation is key. Now I know that you can't really do this because it's a game for pretty much all ages, and bare female chests are a no-no, but I would actually remove her breastplate or at least segment in some way. When she transforms into a dragon her ribcage and neck significantly expand, and that armor would have either shattered/torn or her ribs would have. You could argue that they magically expand, and well there is magic in the world, but I don't think I'd go that route. Her dragonhead gauntlet weapons are pretty oversized because they represent the dragon's actual head for example. I like that design direction a lot more. Personally I would also get rid of her helmet and give her some actual horns. They could still be armored, but I'd like to see actual horns attached to her head to sell the half dragon theme a but more. Her shoulder pads should become distinctly visible in her dragon form. Right now they really serve no purpose in her design. That should definitely be changed. As for her face I think it could use a few more draconic features. Maybe just some more prominent scales, and of course draconic eyes like she has in her current splash art. I do think that making her look conventionally attractive is still a good choice. Half dragons, and shapeshifting dragons in general, have existed for many years in folklore. Often they are depicted or described as being good looking. For half dragons this is usually because at least their dragon parent would be attractive in human form. Shapeshifting dragons would make themselves attractive, as a common reason for their shapeshifting was to get laid. Half dragons often became respected rulers or warriors, and being handsome helps with the public image as well. There are some solid reasons for a half dragon to be good looking, though what is considered good looking might change based on the setting. At the very least I think that if they made Shyvana look more like her current plash art she'd look fine. Part of why she's a bit of a problem is the disconnect between her splash art and in game model. Fixing that would go a long way.

Shyvanna not only could be a great redesign, but she can also push Demacia's story forwards, and add depth to the Sentinels of Light event. As a lore nerd, She's my vote because I don't trust them with Skarner. Nocturne would be a close second place, though...

I'd definitely vote for shyv (well, if I still played the game) even without you encouraging us to do so, because she is one of my favourite characters (in terms of design) in the whole game! And when you like something so much and someone is standing up for that, or protecting it, it feels like they are doing it for you personally, as if the thing was your own haha. (hopefully this makes sense to anyone?) So I weirdly but feel so honored that you have been campaigning for her for an entire week! Like it's something noone even thought you would do nor expected you to do and yet you still contunie! So thx for caring for my wonderful wyvern girl so much! A true hero you are! 💜❤

You convinced me from the beginning. Though I kind of wish I could see an interesting Skarner or a nightmarish Nocturn, I really want to see a new take on Shyvana. Dragons are an incredible mythical beast, my favorite one in fact. And getting another chance at finally getting a cool dragon character with an actually good kit is a chance I can't pass up.

This is enough to convince me that she needs this update. Currently, I have 2 skins of her in Wild Rift, Her Ice Drake and the exclusive WR skin, Hextech from the Wild Pass. At first, it was genuinely fun, but then, as time went by, her gameplay just feels like it's missing something. Instead of feeling like a dragon when I activate her ult, it feels like I'm the incredible Hulk transforming and then yell "DRAGON, SMASH!!!" while I just slap the enemy team one by one. I hope she wins because I want to feel that Dragon aura from Shyvana whenever she's in that form, a little bit of flying would be appreciated too. On the other hand, her human form is what I'm also looking forward to as well, I need to see her have a more fitting Demacian armor rather than her current outfit, without the white & gold ofc, new voicelines would be great too since her lore is just so cool.

I personally don’t get why some ppl want her human form to look like most of the other female champs.. I call this boring and also personally speaking unfitting. Her dragon girl needs to be beefed up - a lot apparently - how would it make sense to be a fragile agile slim woman in human form? Exactly it doesn’t make any sense. We only have Illaoi as a beefy human female character and I think Shyvanna has bit potential (and should be) the same category. I mean she is a fighter and not a full human - heck even Illaoi is more human than her! Also she becomes a freaking dragon i LOVED your concept on Shyvanna beeing this tall, beefy, armoured but still kinda sexy character! (It’s my favourite of all your campion design-ideas tbh) also Illaoi can be attractive too and don’t see that childish body shaming and generalising as okay. It should fit her character to be more beefy and would also give her - and this is very important - a unique silhouette! And this gets more and more important by the amount of champions we have with even more in the future to come! Thx for getting in action and take a position for Shyvanna and her more unique strong look!

I would personally really like to see a re-design of Ashe! Her outfit doesn't make sense in Freljord, it's too bare and doesn't reflect the cultural influence well. I already made a quick sketch of a possible re-design and I think it has a LOT of potential. Ashe just seems very out of place in her region, especially next to Olaf, Trynda and Nunu & Willump. I think her abilities overall are fine (though her E is lacking and although the vision can be useful it's very situational) so she wouldn't need a huge champion update but she is in dire need of a visual update in my opinion.

She doesn't need to be as burly as illaoi. She could have muscles but toned body. Kinda like a buffer and taller wonderwoman.

When it comes to gameplay. I reaaaaaally hope riot takes a look at Deathwing from Heroes of the Storm. Just let me live the fantasy of being a gigantic awesome dragon in fights.

As much as I love shyv’a lore and gameplay, skarner has been one of my favourite champions since his launch.Just like shyvanna he was made during the hybrid builds era but he never found a solid play pattern. One moment he’s tank then the items gets nerfed because other champs abuse them, or he’s a fighter and well someone else uses the items better. They buff his stats/passive gets too strong boom nerf. Then seraphine comes out and make him into a joke in terms of lore. I’m hoping he gets the vgu so he’s more consistent

I think she should look like she's *trying* (not necessarily succeeding) to fit in with Demacia (or how ever it's spelt) because that's a big part of her story. Like maybe turning up the monster women part but tonimg down the armor.

I still love the buff shyvana design from last year. The wildrift version looks really good as well despite not changing much.

tbh, i want a shyvana vgu but im scared of them destroying all i love of her, or the gameplay that is so interesting as well, so i think is better for them to do a asu and some changes to the gameplay so it fits better (i love to play shyvana ad and i like her being able to play her ap too, and im scared of riot getting rid of the hybrid cappabiliites)

Voted for Shyvana. IMO her kit is mostly fine, but her passive needs a complete rework to better suit the rest of her kit (which I'm fine mostly being AA based) for example: When Shyvana is soft CCed (slow, silence, etc) she gains a small heal and fury. When Shyvana is hard CCed she gains 3x the heal and fury. This allows her to keep the in-your-face AA based playstyle but with a very nice buffer if she's getting kited out. In human form? Stall out for full fury and leap in. In dragon form? Stay in form longer and if you get rooted or stunned the passive would let you not lose time in dragon form. Plus, the heal could actually give more net health if the CC comes from a low dmg ability.

Shyvana was my first main on league and she'll always have a special place in my heart :,) already voted for our girl, now let's just hope she gets the love she deserves 🙏🙏🙏

My dream shyvana rework is that her transformations work kind of like the incursio armor from akame ga kill. Id love to have her start more humanoid but as you level (buy items, level ult, slay dragons) she gradually becomes more and more draconic with her abilities being modified to suit her transformation.

I think it would be a cool idea if shyvanas helmet/horns in dragon form looks similar to the demacia crest

I voted for Nocturne for many of the same reasons you're passionate about Shyvana: I love nocturne, I started playing league about a year ago and fell in love with his playstyle, but since I started playing after the fiddle rework, nocturne just feels kind of...a less cool version of him, in terms of lore. Nocturne is supposed to be a demon that feeds off nightmares and fear, yet Fiddle excecutes that concept a lot better with his voice lines, his genuinely disturbing animations and lore and interactions with other champions. I know that technically nocturne is about nightmares and fiddlesticks about fear, but the difference is very very tiny. He's such a cool character in my eyes and I love playing him but when I think about playing a champion that strikes fear to both the characters in game and the people playing it, I just can't think of any reason not to play fiddlesticks instead outside of "I like nocturne" and that's a shame because I feel Nocturne could be so much more with some small adjustment.

I started playing lol because of Shyvana's splash art, that art is so cool to the point i want a full VGU for her but i also want the splash art to be as close to the current one as possible. The somber look after what is implied to be a extremely bloody fight, the claw, the way the dragon wings are positioned in both a way to look like her wings but also look like the head of the dragon is in the exact same place as the hand thats on fire hooked me in. Personally if i had to reference something for her rework id say Ambessa Medarda from Arcane, but id insist in a somber expression and a somber personality like the expression she has on her splash art. In human form id want someone who looks like a dragon killer but also doest like killing dragons. Now for the dragon form i feel more vague, i kinda want the dragon form to be skinnier but i also want it to imply bulkyness and power more than anything. I dont really know how to elaborate but i really want my main to have a better visual identity and a gameplay overhaul. You could even get rid of most of her kit imo.

fully agree on all of this. i voted for nocturne because of personal bias, but shyvana (along with skarner) was definitely a close second. it would be incredibly cool to see your / the channel's take on a potential skarner rework, or maybe even nocturne. (i mean really it would be cool to see you redesign any champion that needs it but i understand you have neither infinite time nor energy lol)

I voted for Nocturne because the living nightmare concept also has potential and it would be interesting, but if Shyvana wins, not mad about it at all. EDIT: You know what, now that i think more about it, i regret my vote LOL. Shyvana deserves it :(, Either way, i hope Shyvana or Nocturne wins, and low-key Skarner or Kog. but Tryndamere, he can hold on a bit longer

Considering the past record of the VGU and art designs of characters in the past year, I don’t trust Riot to make any of these champions have good character designs. Shyvanna and Tryndamere are big red flags for me because I’m afraid they are just going to pull of the Gwen and Zeri treatment and to try to appeal to as many people as they can rather than what would be lore and region accurate. I voted Skarner, but honestly Nocturne probably has way more potential knowing that the likelihood of Riot making a literal ghost demon a sexy thing is pretty unlikely. So, I think Nocturne will provide the best results, but I think Skarner needs to more unfortunately Edit: I also voted Skarner not only because he needs love but his lore is genuinely interesting
