    Network TV (AKA actual TV stations like NBC, ABC, CBS, etc) has 22-26 episode seasons to this day. 8, 10 and 13 episode seasons have always been more of a cable/premium channel thing. The Sopranos had like 13 episodes per season on HBO and that was back in 1999.

  • @raven_moonshine39

    @raven_moonshine39

    10 ай бұрын

    @@WiredLain_ it can actually be traced back to the 2007 writer's strike. A lot of shows had shorter seasons because of it and I think a lot of people, networks included realized they'd rather have shorter seasons with a solid plot throughout instead of 26 episodes where sometimes more than half are filler. When you look back at a lot of those pre writer strike shows so many of them have lists somewhere on the internet of which episodes are relevant and which are skippable because they would have episodes long meandering before getting back to the overarching plot for one episode.

But I watched it through streaming and when you dont have 1 week between episodes, you remember all those little details much better and it actually makes a lot more sense. For the past few weeks I've been falling asleep to youtuve videos alot more then I used to. I've also been rewatching Mike's recap videos alot more recently as well. Fast forward to 2-3 am and I have been waking up to Mike talking about Lost every night; the video is always atleast an hour in and it always feels so much louder then when i fall asleep (anxiety). Basically I feel how i felt as a child waking up to George Lope jumping in slow motion in the air but instead its Mike looking into the camera, talking very seriously about Lost or aggressively hitting a recap board with his pointer *The PPL Part 1 is also suggested alot* That's all.

    It absolutely blows my mind that Mike isn't at 1 mill yet. The quality and consistency of his content is literally some of the best there is on KZread right now. The man singlehandedly spawned a new trend of content. The amount of recommend videos I get of other you tubers who have copied the iconic PLL backdrop to do their own review of what show they're interested in is massive. And yet Mike comes up with amazing new concepts everytime with a fresh view point on something that lots of others have already tried to do. Mike you really are a gift to this platform

    To be clear he was taking after what a few other people had done before, and he states this in the PLL videos. I will say the PLL wall was QUITE iconic, and he definitely kick-started the trend.

    @@beatm6948 He's not the first but he definitely gave a unique spin on how these deep dives are being done. I like that he switches it up for every series that me makes.

    @@beatm6948 oh yeah I defs know he wasn't the first to do a deep dive, what I'm talking about specially is the backdrops and the way he presents them which I've seen replicated. Even though he was inspired by the VPD video that jenny did he formatted it completely differently than how she presents hers if ya know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, I love Mike but I'm not deluded enough to think he invented deep dives 😅
