    That's interesting to learn this comes after learning mills and reverse mills, but the motivation makes sense. Excellent video!

    Hi Mark! As always THANK YOU for what you do! I’ve been incorporating these into my workouts lately and they have been brilliant for loosening up my hips and lower back. Will you be doing 6 other the variations of this exercise? i.e. 1H (&2H) Outside/Outside Pendulum Pullover 1H (&2H) Inside/Inside Pendulum Pullover 1H (&2H) Inside/Outside Pendulum Pullover 1H (&2H) Outside/Inside Pendulum Pullover All the best and thanks again, Luka

    In the old ( way back there in the era of the cod_vid ) 'order of operations' vid for single-arm club, Mark had..... ( ic + oc + sc ) --> ( ip + op + 180) ---> ( mill + revMill + swipe ) With also possibilities for breakdown exercises between each of those progression groupings, if needed, undisclosed ;). But pendulums came before mills, and it's 50lbs now.. oh lordy...what gives eh... So I get to thunking, this an additional breakdown step that could be introduced at higher weights to progress to mills, it introduces duel movement complexity to hit order positions, a ramped up version of the former pendulum progression, used at higher levels to bed in a new weight solid, by smashing technique. That keeps the single hand historical universe intact ( wipes brow ) , and all is well, at least that's what I tell meself :) 50lbs though, that must have been 2H talk, or was it.. When's the programme out again..😅

    50lb is midpoint 😮

    In this particular single arm exercise I would think 25# is the midpoint and 50# the ultimate goal for a guy.

    50lbs single arm is brutal. Don't know of anyone who can do all the basic exercises for long periods non-stop. @@lukem2492

    Used to be 35lbs, pushing the envelope again ! Reckon midpoint refers to a scheme where the 2H ultimate goal is now 100lbs, for some format

    If I had the money like that I would love to get a whole series of kettlebells to compliment with the maze I'm going to get that's adjustable and a double 45 clubs I already have but don't have access to right now .

    The problem with one arm having club swings is potential pain in the forearm. Especially in a non-dominant arm. Any advice on how to prepare yourself for this movement and pain management?

  • @MarkWildman

    @MarkWildman

    4 ай бұрын

    Do a program that allows the non dominant arm to adapt. Often athletes will start trying to go way too heavy way too soon based on the strength of their strong arm.. club swinging should be based on the weak arm. If you’re feeling a ton of pain in your non-dominant arm, then you need to go down and wait and rerun your program so that you can adapt properly.. the goal is to not get hurt. If you get hurt you can’t train you don’t get what you want.

    Not the point just commenting I haven't done kettlebells and over a year now 50 lbs feels heavy again and when I say feels heavy I mean it feels like it's supposed to feel I just forgot

    Is 2kg a good weight to start club bell training with or is that too light.

    I started with a 5lb club, and I think it helped me get used to the basic movements. It probably depends on the person, but I think a lot more would have been difficult. I think the Wildman Club from Adex without any added weights might be a good start. You could choose between the handle only and the handle with the screwset (a little over six pounds, IIRC.) PS: When I started, I wasn't ready to get the Adex club, but if you know you are, you could start right without spending money on other clubs, and all the weights come along with it. The Adex clubs are more end-weighted, too. I started with a different club, and I wasn't ready for the difference in weight distribution, though I thought I was. That's probably a good reason to start with the Adex club. At least if you start with 2kg, you can "get a feel for it" and decide if you want the more expensive complete set.

    depends on your past injuries, age, etc etc. generally, adult men start out with 15lbs

    A short answer could be "it can't hurt to start that low, particularly if you already have that club."

    It may be a good way to safely learn the absolute basics. Your technique can only improve with heavier weights though. Your body will be.. encouraged to move better by swinging heavy.

    I started with 1 lb clubs someone gave me and after a couple of weeks noticed my shoulders stopped hurting. If your main goal is mobility, lighter is probably better. And as CultofHercules alluded, learning new moves with a light weight is fabulous because it's easier to go in slow motion and even stop at several points throughput the move to check your form so you don't get hurt. Now I have a 10 lb club (for 2hands) and love the "wheeeeeeeeee" feeling you get from swinging a heavier weight, especially during flows.
