An ALMOST perfect HGUC kit - HGUC GM Ground Type | Kit Analysis

#gundam #gunpla #scalemodel
Huge rant incoming, almost a perfect kit but looking at the original design, one can't help but to feel a bit let down. Still, hands down one of the best HGUC kits I have ever built.

Naoki is an incredible modeler, and also a really great photographer. I love his outdoor photos. I remember hearing that Naoki was involved in the Mk. II revive. The Mk. II is one of my favorite gundams, and that version is one of my favorite kits in the HGUC line, so if that's true I'm not surprised to hear it. I like it more than the RG and MG 2.0 in some ways. BTW, you are also an incredible modeler, so thanks for sharing your work here!

Been thinking of buying a version of the GM for awhile. I think this video convinced me lol

Hey man, just wanted to say that I really appreciate your content. Found your channel looking for how to remove the seam-line on the RX-78-02 Origin Bazooka but stayed for your style of videos. I'm relatively new to gunpla and that video really helped me get over my modding/plastic-cutting anxiety and now I'm doing Char's Zaku II with a better understanding of seam-line removal, how to use putty, and that cutting a part isn't a scary thing. I feel like a lot of gunpla channels focus a lot on "zen"/ASMR/relaxation and on-screen text with music for 20 minutes which doesn't keep me engaged, but your consistent narration and side-notes (like the Naoki vs. Japanese fans thing here) keep me engaged really well. Obviously the video quality goes without saying too, super good. Goes without saying but I love what you did with the GM ground type in this video, love weathered ground-type units. looking forward to your next video!

I'm very glad to be of some help! I honestly was also contemplating on doing that ASMR thing at one point, but felt like there were plenty of that type of content out there and I wouldn't be adding anything. My whole thing here is just to show you how I delt with the kit, so you can either copy my homework, or learn from my mistakes, since I had to research and copy a lot of what other people did when I first started out (and I still do so now tbh). I never expected anyone to find me through that bazooka video lol, maybe I should do some more quick technique videos focusing on specific parts of kits. That would help me bridge over from one build to another too so I can have a steadier release schedule...

@@comradegunpla For what it's worth, I think I would enjoy those "specific part" videos but I'm not sure if they'd perform as well as full builds and kit analyses unfortunately, and (if you care) the algorithm is a harsh mistress when videos get inconsistent views. You might also run out of ideas fast when many parts have common solutions and the videos may end up same-y. They might work better as quick KZread shorts or TikToks though! Just my two-cents. Again, keep up the great work!

    说到陆战型gm,我超爱他的同胞兄弟强袭型gm的。 虽然是老模了,分色地狱,但是武器装备有特色,造型帅气,喷口又大又多,刻线细节丰富。认真做完以后相当美。

AWESOME WORK! I often see chipping done after washes/streaking, so this was great to see an example of it done the other way around and see the subtle differences. Question, how do you account for surface clearance on parts that rub against one another and parts that have a tight fit?

  • @comradegunpla

honestly, I only do that for arm/leg joints. I just sand down the parts that go outside the joints a little bit to make sure there's no contact. As you've seen, I always snap build everything first before painting, so I can identify parts that fit tightly. You might also want to cut away a few pegs to make the parts fit better.

great video! love your build process explanations suggestion in terms of audio for the video, the music sounds a bit loud or maybe try speaking louder or raising the volume on your voice??

I recently got the MG version of this model (wanted to practice scribing and weathering on a kit that's not too expensive or already detailed), and your video kit looks amazing! Wish the MG came with the rocket launchers or the Ground Gundam cannon, but I plan to use the tube rockets on the backpack somehow. Anyway, just wanted to ask, do you mind sharing what colors you used for the tan and orange? They look much better than the default "permanent marker" shade of orange the kit comes with out of the box.

I mix all of my colors myself and a lot of these are just from a mix of leftover paints, so it'd be impossible to share the colors. I would just get some primary color paints (magenta, cyan, yellow) to add to pre-existing colors to finetune them.
