    Aussies also use a lot of these words to varying degrees: bonkers, cheeky, donkey's years, faff, hammered, kip, loo, umpteen, vino, zonked. We would call a party a 'do', not a to-do. There were a few others I hadn't heard of.

    @@smashingenglish i have one question for You English People: why do You always say "british culture" to talk about yourselves like if Scotland Wales North Ireland were all the Same, when of course they are not, we all know they all are 3 different countries apart from England itself Even if the 4 of You are the United Kingdom together (that's why it's called UK) so why don't You talk about English culture Alone?? Y'know England only

    Yeah I bet you were knackered after filming this video on a hot summer day! But we're back to rainy days this week in France 😢 and it was a pleasure to watch you explain all those slang words, I knew very few of them. You're as «happy-jumpy-crazy-funny» as Laura 😂👍 Is she sick or ill to be staying behind the camera? Excellent video anyway, thanks a lot ☺👍

    Umpteenth, To-do, Zonked, and Bonkers are all used in the US, too. Instead of “You What?,” we say “Oh no you didn’t.”

    Hi. Could you please explain me : is the word "wench" acceptable in normal everyday communication? Thanks a lot, have a nice day.

  • @smashingenglish

    @smashingenglish

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello! Wench is a very old word to mean a certain type of woman. I only hear it used today for comic purposes, never in serious conversation. So, you may hear it as a joke but not as a genuine word used to refer to a woman.

    There are about eight of those that we use in the U. S. regularly. e. g. - I got hammered on vino last night and was zonked out by midnight - a totally American sentence.
