I’m so sorry about your accident and your memories this brought up. It’s what being stuck in trauma is like. This song and MV are hauntingly beautiful and have helped me see how much unprocessed trauma I need to work through. I just love him so much for sharing with us. I hope you are ok, please take care of yourself.💜💜💜

He talked about the process of writing this song. And even showed it in his “Road to D-Day” Documentary. Because he had to tap into the memories and the pain again, it caused mood swings throughout the development process. He did almsot show a rough edit (no second verse I believe) to Jimin. It takes a LOT for someone to put their personal stuff out in this matter From what I could surmised from the interviews he’s been doing, this album is pretty much “closing” chapter for Agust D; he didn’t say the persona is ‘retired’ but rather it will be a while before he pops up again. He’s pretty much making peace of sorts with his past. That’s something I’ve noticed in this era of BTS; they all seem to be more relaxed and freeing now. Like RM and Indigo, he seemed so much more lively and relaxed.

The thing about this MV or what I take away from it, is that whatever happened in our past, we can’t go back and change those things. Those experiences, regardless of how good or bad they are, shape who we become and how we live with those things is what decides how we ultimately get through our life. Like the song itself, the MV is very raw. He doesn’t hold anything back and it makes me feel so proud that he has reached a point where he feels safe and trusts us enough to share what he was and is dealing with. He is a true master. This song, though personal to him, I think will resonate with everyone in their own way. We all have parts of ourselves that we keep hidden, we suffer in silence if you will. It gives me strength that I am not alone. We can and should accept those things which we can’t change and find a way to live around them. From the first time I heard this song, it has become my favourite song from the album.

Yoongi really opened up to us. This may be healing for him , to face his pain and trauma.. and for us, who are also going through the same thoughts... What really pained me about this song and MV, is finally knowing how he held all of this in. Not just while in pre debut, but through out his career. This are not really things you can just talk about in the open, not especially as an Idol who, aside from working hard , are always being hated on for no reason. Holding onto those pain, alone in your mind😭 .. knowing now that he was the one who inflicted that scar in order to cope with all the turmoil he must have been feeling, thus creating AGUST D, the one filled with anger, pain and malice 🥹 he was suffering and yet only tried to give us his best .. How must he have felt, after all his schedule and concerts, going back alone in his hotel room😭.. I'm glad he has his members with him ready to support and help him out. But after seeing this MV, I can never see that scar as anything but pain and proof of Yoongis strength and perseverance 🥹 thank u Yoongi for sharing us urself. you are strong . u deserve all the best .🥲🥲🥲🥲 #agustd #dday #amygdala

adding on to what another commenter said yoongi basically said this is part of his treatment so we can guess him writing this song and filming the music video in this way was part of his therapy and overcoming of his trauma possibly a suggestion from a therapist cause he mentioned the words treatment when explaining why he was doing this song. also not to pry but if you do have a therapist it may be a good idea to mention this to them since you connect so deeply with it especially if it brings up bad memories or triggers you. many armys have had to discuss it since the mv dropped as it covered many triggering topics. hope you feel better and hope the song brings you comfort as well. im glad youre still here with us and all your feelings are valid. 💜

I almost honestly can’t even listen to this song or watch the video without crying even from the beginning it’s so raw and personal, and Yoongi is so amazing and brave to let us in to see this part of him. I think towards the end of the video when he gets off the bike and runs up to the door it’s almost like you’ve got the current AgustD on the floor trying to get to the door to open it to let the past Yoongi in to warn him about what’s going to happen but the door won’t open so it’s just like you know we have to live with what happens in the past we can’t change it .

I'm so sorry that the MV brought up such traumatic memories for you. I'm very, very glad that it was decided to add the trigger warning at the beginning of the MV. A lot of ARMYs knew that he was hit by a car when he was working as a delivery driver, so many of us had a good idea of what was about to be shown when we saw him on the scooter. I'm sorry that you were caught so off-guard. The MV is triggering for most people, including me, but it is also something that is causing people to open up and talk about various traumas, just as you have done. That can only help you to heal in the long run. I have PTSD myself from trauma when I was only 10 years old and I'm currently 52. I don't know that it ever fully goes away but it does get more bearable. I hope that you've been able to speak to a therapist about your trauma. Even if you don't go into details and just tell them that you have PTSD, they can recommend coping mechanisms to help with the flashbacks and all. I am so very proud of you for making it through the whole video and then having the courage to share both your reaction and your past with us. You are a very strong person. I hope, in the long run, that this whole experience helps you towards healing from what happened. Borahae.

i cried a lot too. it brought up personal stuff for me too. for him to show traumas, that a lot of people won't understand. or they will fake trying to understand. it's RARE for an artist to be this honest about personal things. like what other artist would make this mv? how many people understands the line of "first choice, second best choice, third best choice" ... yeah it's because he has been through a lot. and to just keep going, even if you have to crawl in the end... it's really beautiful when you understand it with your heart.

Alexa I'm so sorry about your accident , take care 🥺 I'm honestly glad too he decided to make an MV for this song too even if it's really hard to watch for many people. This is one of the things I love the most about Yoongi and BTS' music. They share their personal stories and honest feelings and because of this many people really relate and connect to them in another whole level. Their songs and messages have helped and saved millions of armys lives including me. I'm so thankful I discovered them because they gave me a reason to keep going, now I want to live. Agust D songs have personally gave me so much strength and comfort through the years. I remember his songs touched me the most back in 2016 when he dropped his first mixtape because I was going through a really hard time and his lyrics were so raw and honest.. he made me feel like I wasn't alone in this. 😭💜

I’m so sorry about your accident and what you had to go through after. First thing I thought of as someone with PTSD was how Yoongi had to actually go back and explain every detail of his accident to his team. That must’ve been an incredibly tough process. In “In The Soop” Yoongi said that writing this was part of the process. I’m guessing he was in therapy, cause I remember having writing assignments that my therapist gave me. If so, I can see why he wrote a song instead. Had a good cry with you, love. 💜

i feel you on the PTSD from accidents, i personally was in 2 car accidents within a month of eachother in 2019 i was terrified of driving for a good while but i bottled it up cause my family needed me to work, and every member of my family has been in at least 1 motor vehicle accident so i didnt get much comfort emotionally that i remember,.So, when i first saw the scene of the accident i jumped too and instanty was in tears. At first i thought it was only because of sympathy for Yoongi but now i realize that it was also because the scene had activitated my own PTSD, but like you and like yoongi i don't let that fear control my life although i know bottled it up wasn't healthy it was an intinctual thing because of other traumas however thanks to BTS & TXT i slowly working on it.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Hugs tight. Ty for sharing ur story. Such a good song. Pls pause as much as u want. I love hearing your thoughts. This is my fav song from his album. My 2nd fav is Snooze. I love all the songs though. But these for some reason made me feel more. When i heard this for the 1st time i smiled. This MV speaks his truth. I am glad Suga talked about it more. I think the more u speak about it the easier it gets as the years pass. I am sorry he went through so much. I am sad he did not reach the door. I think this song is tricky. I think the MV enhanced the song a lot for me. Good visuals. Loved the feels. I am an empath so i take it in. Suga was sharing his trauma, his painful memories right. I was not aware his mom had heart surgery or that his dad battled cancer. I wonder if his bike accident occured in the same year as everything else. We know Suga survived it was a miracle. Yoongi dealt with so much pain for so long. We were all so glad he finally had the shoulder surgery. They are so strong all of them. They are our strength and we theirs. I was finally able to cry for him at last watching with Anitra. My therapist said I am not afraid of death. I faced my death already dealing with cancer. So his truth was not that shocking to me. But still I wanted to cry for him because he can't. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟 I Purple Jimin 💜said on 4/25/23 People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala. Not being able to process emotion and trauma properly. People who suffer with PTSD in multiple forms would understand this mv straight off. Its the whole process of nightmares vs flashbacks. Flashbacks being more of a process for PTSD sufferers. I have Complex PTSD and hypervigilance so i understand this mv with all its little nuances. I respect Yoongi so much that his been able to be so open with these issues. Alix DriftwoodDragons said on 4/25/23 I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amygdala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years. In Daechwita (D-2), he replaced "blond Agust D" from the first mixtape (he was blond for the MVs he released in 2016), who was a king who ruled out of anger... in Haegeum, a new Yoongi who DOESN'T have a scar, he's healed from his trauma - or at least has learned how to have it not continue to hurt him any more by self-inflicting wounds in response to it - and Haegeum Yoongi replaces D-2 Yoongi whose scar is old but still there, and is ruling in a civil manner but perhaps too caught up in the flexing aspect (the fancy suit, the slick image). I think Haegeum is the end on a note of Yoongi being free, and living the way he wants. Amygdala is needed to explain that key though - what Yoongi had to go through mentally to get to that point. The fact that he's sharing this with us, to me, means that he's reached a healthy place where he feels strong and recovered enough to share the story. Even if he can't put a firm happy ending on it, because you can't do that with mental struggles - in the latest episode of Suchwita, he even tells RM that he gets low every 2-3 years, but has learned how to handle it better as time has passed, and now RM thinks he's the most positive person on the team. Really, Yoongi is absolutely amazing. I love him so much and he deserves all the hugs in the world. @charethiebeldad8303 said on 5/4/23 His trying to save himself, but failed so he just accepted the other side of him wholeheartedly and later they both find healing,. MIN YOONGI /SUGA/AGUST D was indeed a genius! Thank you guys as always! 🤗💜💜💜💜

Dear Lex: As a 55 yr old Army Mom who lives on the tiniest Island in the Caribbean (population....4k) and discovered our boys in 2016? Over the past seven yrs in here - have subbed and seen probably hundreds of new BTS reactioners....start from 10 members (back then) to over 500K plus today. So I'll say the same thing I said - 6 yrs ago - to a young man who wouldn't stop apologizing - for losing it - over one of BTS' vids. He openly wept and was so upset. I believe it was the Spring Day vid - once the lyrics (were explained) and what it was based on. "Never apologize for crying in front of us because when you cry? Trust me - We as Army watching your transparency....cry along side and WITH you. You've joined a Global family - who will always have your back". The trigger warning for this vid is for good reason: Just as it brought back memories of your life altering car accident and the yrs spent dealing with it's aftermath? In 2016...after 5 years spent in a highly abusive relationship (on all levels?) Was on the verge of committing the 'S' word because....I was at a point where, my ex had broken me. Made me doubt my sanity/self worth to where - I 'hated' myself. Was looking at a YT vid when suddenly BTS broke in with their vid of 'fake Love'. was so annoyed (lol). Who are these guys? Never heard of them but their dancing...visuals and message were enough. Long story short. Went down the BTS Rabbit Hole and.....credit these seven boys (back then) PLUS ARMY for - literally - saving my life. Their msg of 'self love', GAVE ME THE STRENGTH to kick my ex to the curb and start over. From the beginning. Never looked back. Especially once the message spread around the World - "BTS come into your life....when needed the MOST". Well....I bawled my arse off upon hearing this song and it triggered my own painful memories of that 'dark' time because although not explicitly 'shown' in this vid? Suga has always been open about being in his 'dark place' . Battling his depression and how close he came to - the 'S' word. Thank you for sharing your traumatic experience with us, Lex. Am sending you love, light and positive vibes from hundreds of miles away. As Army...you're part of the largest family in the World so, Borahea, sweetie 💜💜💜💜

I was very sorry to hear that you had been in a really bad accident, and have gone through all that trauma. I can't imagine how seeing this video may have effected you, especially having dealt, and gone through something similar. Including having PTSD. Which I honestly only understand, or should I say have experienced, to a certain extent myself. And because of this I can relate maybe a tiny bit, but I'm guessing it is nothing along the lines of what you must have gone through and what you may still be going through even to this day. So I definitely applaud your strength and courage. And I want to thank you for sharing your story with us. I'm guessing, it wasn't easy, and for that I am sorry. I hope you are now healthy and that you have healed or are in the process of healing, mentally also. Which I do know that especially when it comes to our mental health, many, many times this can be much easier said than done. I just hope that if you need help, please don't be afraid to reach out. Everyone needs help from time to time, there is nothing wrong with that. I wish you nothing but the best, and hope you are doing well. -Again, Thank You! And Remember, " You Never Walk Alone!" 😊💜🫶💜😊
