That accident actually happened to Yoongi in 2012 when he was a trainee. He took a delivery job to earn more money. The accident injured his shoulder but he couldn’t tell anyone for fear he would be let go by BigHit. He even told his members that he fell down the stairs. Eventually, he told BigHit and they paid his school tuition. Years later when the shoulder injury could no longer be ignored, he underwent surgery to fix it.

This song is His-Story - Suga had an accident delivering papers when he was a trainee and didn't tell anyone. He had lived with excruciating pain doing all the training and then performances. He didn't tell anyone because he thought they would cut him. He had surgery a few years ago and BTS performed with an open space for his presence. When they won awards they called him by cellphone to let him thank ARMY. He showed up as a holograph in one song they performed live. The cutting shows the creation of AgustD. ARMY knows about the accident from the few times Suga spoke about it and his depression but he reveals a little bit more in this video. Yoongi has opened up like a full-bloomed flower coming out of his shell as he has faced these issues and likes himself. He has embraced the pain and used it for good. The past makes up our present, we choose the fragrance emitted from the past. The Love Yourself album came out with all this. I don't think we can ever erase the crud but when we look at it from another learned perspective we can process it quicker each time it comes up to disband any previous attachments by choosing another reaction. Counseling helps... to be free. Freedom and hope are everything. Everyone needs counseling.

I love the lyric about blooming like a lotus flower once again. Lotus flowers grow out of the mud. Yoongi struggled through a lot of "mud" in his past, but he has bloomed out of it into a beautiful flower. 💜

Yoongi really opened up to us. This may be healing for him , to face his pain and trauma.. and for us, who are also going through the same thoughts... What really pained me about this song and MV, is finally knowing how he held all of this in. Not just while in pre debut, but through out his career. This are not really things you can just talk about in the open, not especially as an Idol who, aside from working hard , are always being hated on for no reason. Holding onto those pain, alone in your mind😭 .. knowing now that he was the one who inflicted that scar in order to cope with all the turmoil he must have been feeling, thus creating AGUST D, the one filled with anger, pain and malice 🥹 he was suffering and yet only tried to give us his best .. How must he have felt, after all his schedule and concerts, going back alone in his hotel room😭.. I'm glad he has his members with him ready to support and help him out. But after seeing this MV, I can never see that scar as anything but pain and proof of Yoongis strength and perseverance😌 thank u Yoongi for sharing us urself. you are strong . u deserve all the best .🥲🥲🥲🥲 #agustd #dday #amygdala

i loved seeing all the fancams of the D-Day concert tour. His stage was actually 12 platforms that would raise up to the ceiling throughout some songs, making there be less and less stage for him to perform on. Underneath the platforms there were some small sets he used for songs, such as a tv/lamp/chair and his piano. So it was like each song performed revealed a bit more of himself. Amygdala was the last before the encore, he's just got the one platform left surrounded by fire. Then for the encore he comes out with no platforms and he sings on the bare floor, kinda like.. "this is me, nothing more" and he's surrounded by cameras on all sides filming him for display on the big screen. When the last song is done he just walks off as house lights are back on and the crew steps up and already starts taking things away. It's such a great way to tell a complete story through a concert.

Also the book that in one of their showed RM and Yoongi were reading was almond. It’s the story of a child who can’t feel emotions due to an under developed amygdala as he faces trauma without being able to connect emotionally.

The scar is a symbol of sufferings in life. Yoongi said traumatic experiences in life will "scar" us. You might ask why did Yoongi place the "scar" on his face. I think this is open to individual's intepretation. For me, it simply means trauma we "face" in life. In Daecwhita & Haeguem, Agust D had d scar bc Agust D is Yoongi's persona. Yoongi had the accident when he was doing part time job as a delivery boy while training to debut as BTS in 2010/2011. The accident caused him a severe shoulder injury but he was afraid to tell the management company (he thought he might be rejected as a trainee), so he continued practicing. However, later he did tell Bang Pd and Mr.Bang sent him to get treatment and told him to stop his part time job. BigHit then sponsored his schooling. So, the pills refer to the painkillers that he had to take throughout the years while performing as BTS. We know how tough BTS choreo is. In 2020, Yoongi finally had the much needed surgery to fix his shoulder as the injury worsened. He said he's no longer in pain now but he cannot move his shoulder as normal ppl can anymore.

i love the lotus image yoongi uses in amygdala and other songs on the album it symbolises peace because of pure beauty of lotus flowers that you can find in nature among chaos and rebirth because lotus plants grow out of mud and water and bloom into beautiful flowers above the surface as @jessikatsu beautifully explained, "The lotus plant has its roots firmly planted in the soil underneath the dirty water, but its flowers always find their way to the surface, where the sun shines. Every night, the flower closes and sinks into the darkness of the water. Every morning, it finds its way back to the surface, towards the light… and it blooms again - completely clean, without a trace of the dirt around it"

The fact that he went through all of this and has come out of it a stronger, happier person just proves to me that he is a fighter. His willingness to share all of this is very courageous.Hopefully people will see this and realize that if he went through all of that and made it through they can as well.

By now, you would have seen Road to D-Day and understood this better. But essentially, he wrote this as part of his therapy to overcome his depression. As you heard from People Pt2 and his interview with IU, he's become more lighthearted and seemed to have turned a corner in his mental recovery. I can't wait to see him in person in a week's time!! He's coming to Singapore and I got tickets!! Woohoo!! 💜

In the concert, the stage has 15 panels. As the show continues various panels are raised until the last one, which you saw. That was not how the concert ended however. He returns to perform three more songs to just the floor with whatever has been there under stage throughout the concert (lights and other equipment). There are a few paths for him, an elevated staircase with a platform and a few other platforms on the ground for him to perform on. To me, it was a visual metaphor. He starts the show on a “pedestal” but ends it on the same level as everyone else. Similar to his music, the stage is taken away bit by bit to reveal the truth underneath. By the way, the song he ends the concert with is The Last. Not sure if you have reacted to that one yet, but it is along the same lines as Amygdala theme-wise. One last thing, he was carried onto the stage at the beginning of the concert. Leave it Yoongi to work that into his show. Although, I think it’s a clever way for him to conserve some energy for his solo performance. The whole show was well structured for that too.

For the concert they carry him in and at the end carry him out. This isn't the last song though. There is an encore where he sings a couple more songs (older songs). He put on a powerful performance. The stage started out full then slowly gets taken away. For the encore he is on the floor.

Suga's/Agust D's D-day concert was a bomb, full of feel, and very profound! The stage was peeled away one by one as the concert progressed. It was rather symbolic, peeling away the stage/public facade to reveal the real Yoongi/artist. In the foundation of all the glamor and glitz of show business, there is an artist/musician who is sincere about his craft. I'm so affected by the concert that I'm still pondering what Yoongi was trying to say.

I am so thankful for this song. From the perspective of living through my own traumatic experiences, this video accurately portrays the battle between past & present, the flashbacks, the self-harm, & the memories that won't let go. The concept of the two personas of himself that run through his trilogy is brilliant, because it tells his own story in his own way, but also speaks to others in their own ways. In my life, the two personas represent the original unharmed me before abuse, vs the mess I became after. And also retrospectively, the me I might have become, vs what I actually became. And also, the self I created to protect my inner wounded self. There are so many ways that this song can apply to others. I am 53 years old & have lived in safety since I was 24, & yet there are times that flashbacks & fear come to the forefront & start to rule my thoughts. It is very easy to slip right back into the past & become trapped there again. And it does actually feel like I need my present self to let me out of my own memories. And in those times, it does feel like the part of my mind that is trying to protect me from danger by carving the trauma into itself, is also sabotaging my healing. I have never heard any other song express this so clearly. Yoongi can still teach me something today & tomorrow about myself then & now, with his forthright, beautiful lyrics & music. Thank you Yoongi. 💜

What he meant by fictional is that specific scene from an apartment only... I think the accident in the MV was even toned down coz the actual one is w/ some sort of truck as he mentioned in an interview years ago (also the horns from the music is not of a car contrary to what the scene shows) and even the way he crashed is diff from what he shared... this is I think to not make army too uncomfortable as he always reassure us during the shoot... he's aware that his content is triggering to people, and some people cannot handle such scenes and also armys will be worried for him... I just love our endearing lil boss. Also, did you know that he B-Boys during predebut days? He showed that talent a bit during American Hustle Life/Dark&Wild era (2014) but never again, it would take a lot of toll on his shoulders in add'n to their regular choreo routines. That's why when he says he don't like dancing or other says he hates dancing, in my mind I'm like "Are you sure abt that?" ..Sure, he said he wanted to avoid dancing but never would I think that he hates it, he even dances when he's giddy (also his peak amusement is w/ his feet stomping 🥲) and the man got inherent talent for agility, he's so light on his feet like a literal CAT, just watch his footwork in their practices and during run bts games.

  • @louweez1805

    @louweez1805

I agree on you with his agility he wouldn’t let us see much of it but when he doesn’t think about it he is actually light on his feet. His isolations are really great. He can move his legs and feet without moving his upper body. he just isn’t as confident about his dancing as compared to others he just needs to know that he can be great with it(I think he’s realizing that recently when he did choreo for haegeum)

@@louweez1805 some of the awesome examples of his agility in natural situation (non-dance) is that Armypedia SUGA fancam ver. and Run BTS Ep. 104 (first game - trip to jerusalem on the floor ver)..also just watching him on his casual behaviors running, sneaking, jumping it's so satisfying.. his legs being so dainty and slim might be one reason why he's agile and/or vice versa..

Yeah I didn’t think you would cry but I knew you would feel it. Like you said you could feel the weight without even seeing the lyrics. For me it was difficult because I felt empathy for all he had gone through and I always feel pain when others I care about struggle. Also, as someone who has lived with chronic depression for several years a couple of parts were very relatable like when he was “in his head” and saying “save me from here, hurry let me out of here” as well as when he was crawling across the floor and the camera shifted giving the very realistic impression of trying to crawl out of the hole your mind has created and it seemingly getting more steep. That being said, he was able to overcome his traumatic memories and although they will always be there, they have lost their hold on him which is amazing! Like you Lovely, who was aware that you weren’t having the best day, and also aware that there was no particular reason for it, you accepted it for what it was and continued on with your reaction. I realize this was recorded on a different day, so I hope on the day you may read this comment, you had a pleasant day. If not, there’s always tomorrow yeah?

He was so generous to share this with us. And I also think it means he has been able to work through his trauma to get to a place where he can not only talk about, but depict it. He’s also seemed a lot lighter since he has his shoulder surgery in 2020. As someone who dislocated my shoulder constantly I can relate and am glad he’s in a better place now. I really had a trauma catharsis reaction when I first saw this video, and I think a lot of other people with trauma had a similar reaction. But I feel like this video helped propel me a step forward in coping with my traumas.

Hi Mike, This song makes me think about how amazing the body and mind are, and how intricately we were created and crafted by God. The amygdala s about the size of an almond... such a powerful little thing in our lives of memory recollection. I have the blahs today too, but I am determined to be the best I can be to myself and rest my mind. Just like the little amygdala that affects our perception, something so small can change the blahs to a HAPPY. Look for it Mike... of course, I'm speaking to the choir over here too... I'm looking for my Happy today... oh ... I'm listening to my 93-year-old mother singing in the other room while writing this. Found it!!!!! She is blind and has dementia but she remembers her songs and is singing loud.

Many have been complaining that they couldn't sign in to see it. They were asking for proof of age. We have all heard of his delivery accident, but it hit different hearing his mom had heart surgery the month he was born. We were almost deprived of ever having our Yoongi. Great the way he expressed it as hearing his mother's heartbeat in his ears. He persevered even before day 1. He told us in People pt.2 he didn't receive enough love as a child.I know you mention water temp in filming all the time, but this is the 1st time anyone has said "that's cold". He was afraid of how the fans would react to his drug use in his late teens and early twenties. He spoke of his relationship with RM once and the way he self-medicated with staying out drinking. He'd drag himself in and got nothing more than a look from RM. Having been the 1st 2 members they had a different level of understanding of each other. I hope you haven't had to experience any vehicle accidents, but they do replay over and over in your mind. Although they happen quickly, for some reason your mind sometimes observes it in slow motion. We , and he, are so lucky that Bang PD realized his worth and said no more working, I'll cover your expenses. He suffered so many years with that shoulder injury because the doctors told him that when they have it at his age they often need to repeat it in the future . He does remind us that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but he had a target on his back before he was born. Concert scenes show him being dressed and you can see all of the patches containing pain meds covering the entire area. His entire stage setup for the concert was so amazing the way the bottom was mesh with removable sections, but all the surrounding fire below and around made me worry he may look like the marshmallows in the shoot you took part in. After he finishes the concerts in a city he does a live from his hotel. Someone asked him about his hair and he said he added in some extensions to make it longer. Info comes in from soo many sources at different times. I always respected his frankness and he truly is an inspiration. When JHope brought him the snacks in the shape of Acorns it's because one of his characters as BTS is a squirrel. Remember when he was filming Daechwita JHope rented a coffee truck covered with pictures of him for the filming. Thank you.
