I am not of her generation, but I think this woman is one of the most brilliant talents of any generation. What a breath of fresh air in a haze of stagnant , shallow, made-fresh-daily stars. Amazing. She is defining a fresh sound in music that respects where it came from, but knows where it's going. Somewhere deep.

"and life is like a pipe and I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside" brilliant lyrics and brilliantly sung.

She is always so real and honest in her lyrics... and what an amazing voice... I read she is doing better, out of the hospital and trying to get in better shape and working on her new album. Keep it up Amy. We need you around to keep making beautiful music!

She wrote this song about her and Blake, when he left her for another woman before they were married. Her going "Back to Black" means going back into her depression...Black state of mind. And she burys her heart at the end to symbolize "dying a hundred times".. every time they would break up. She speaks about it in a documentary. It's so much a sincere heartfelt song.

Love her voice. It's really soulful. I don't understand people who don't like Amy Winehouse, she makes great music and writes good lyrics and that's all that matters.

I agree, she has her own sound...which is what I look for in my favorite artists. I just hope she sticks around long enough to make the most of her potential!

So True. Her vocal style is reminiscent of some of the famous female jazz singers from the golden age of the Harlem jazz scene. Her songwriting is fierce. I don't know if I can say she is a genius but the case certainly is strong for it.

She has an amazingly voice.

As a black woman, I dont believe that Amy is "ripping off" black music. This is the voice she was born with and she uses it beautifully. I dont care what color she or anyone else with talent is. An amazing voice is meant to be heard and true talent like Amy's is undeniable. And I dont think you can even put Timberlake or Eminem in the same category as her.

This old guy just happened upon this song while listenting to girl groups of the early 1960s, certain this song was from that era. Man, she's certainly up there with some of the lesser known sirens of that era, like Ketty Lester ("Love Letter"). Time to go to Amazon and order.
