Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women each determined to live life on her own terms -- is both timeless and timely. Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

I love how Greta has Laurie walking in slow motion. Because we are seeing him through the eyes of Amy, and she sees him as fleeting because she loves him and can't have him.

If that's not an example of female gaze (which some say doesn't exist because it uses the same techniques as male gaze) I don't want to know what is.

Slow motion indicates he's "fleeting?"
The way Amy turns back to Aunt March at 1:56 and says "Its Laurie" 😍😍😍

Yes! It's like: Hey! It's Laurie! Don't you know why I'm like this? Haha She adores him and does not understand the look since she can't act in another way! Haha
Florence is the best Amy, in my opinion. Amy had been my least favourite sister from the original novel, but Florence managed to flesh her out more, and make her sympathetic.

Agreed. Florence managed to portray Amy’s fussiness as endearing, her formality as charming.

Maybe because I´m also the youngest of four sisters but I´ve alaways preferd Amy over Jo even in the books, I mean Jo was kind of mean to her and would always compare her to Beth...

Once I heard Saoirse saying that Florence is a typical Amy in real life, but I got the feeling that this Amy is even wilder than the typical Amy, and that's why I love her
This Amy's got so much more energy than the 1994 one. You can see her passion for life

Yes. That Amy seemed to low energy and reclining. In the book, when amy and Laurie first meet again, she has energy and drive and is happy and enthusiastic compared to Laurie’s depression and spiral. Then they switch roles when Beth died and he takes care of her and takes her on walks and boat rides.

IMO, this Amy is the best
Watching Amy being so happy to see Laurie makes me smile every time🥰
If you came to this after seeing Dune: Part Two, you're not alone. These 2 have come a long way. And have big things ahead of them.

I mean, yeah they've done a lot since then, but Florence was Oscar nominated for this role, she's been a big deal for awhile.
That man has a WIDE stride

I love the subtle turn and smile Streep does too. Like she's a hardass but she likes seeing Amy so happy.
Ah the way Amy look at Laurie at the end.

Notice how Florence gets out of the carriage and runs to Timothy so quickly. I wonder if that's how she reacted when she saw him for the first time on the set of Dune: Part 2.😂😂😂😂
Some facts about this beautiful scene(acc to the book) : - This takes place in Promanade des Anglais, a picturesque route in Nice, France . Amy was driving the carriage herself in one winter afternoon. In the book Aunt March wasn't there with her, she simply stopped the carriage and was overjoyed to see laurie, picked him up, and the two chatted while riding the carriage around the gay city of Nice🏖Also it was Christmas day🌲❤
Such a beautiful scene I can watch it 100 more times
I think the whole audience would have swooned if he had turned around. And how could he have stood her up if he felt so strongly about her?

At this point Amy is nothing more than a very dear family friend to him. He only begins to fall for her as he spends more time with (Adult) Amy.

I’m sorry, Florence is a good actress but I just couldn’t stand Amy’s character in this version or even the one before that.

She's not very likeable in the book, either. I actually think Pugh (and Gerwig) did a fair job of giving her some redeeming qualities.
