Never thought I'd see the day where Amtrak operated Lake Shore Limited trains as short as in this video. (1 Amfleet II coach, 1 Viewliner Diner, 1 Viewliner Sleeper, 1 Viewliner baggage) Nice catch on that last train with the ex-Metroliner 9800 Conference Car.

0:30 only one coach, one diner, one sleeper, and one baggage. I didn't expect the New York Section to be so short during this time. 2:02 I like the horn on that cab car. Metro North trains seem to be the same length 3:12 the first train to be specially painted to those helping the cure our nation? 4:42 wow, nice to see the Pacific Bend sleeper and the Metroliner out during this time

Ok since you seem REALLY out of touch with our New York Trains: 3:12 is NOT a special scheme. It’s been there since 2008. 2:02 That’s a Leslie RS2M, used on most of the MTA’s commuter trains. 0:30 Less Passengers = Fewer Coaches.

The short trains are likely due to the pandemic since at the time it was raging and New York was on pause so travel was discouraged.

Once the Boston set and the NY set gets combined, it can have up to 14 cars and 2 or 3 engines. Usually the NY set is 9 cars and the Boston set is 4-5 cars but because of the pandemic it is only 3.

@The New Patticakes not down here. The average lake shore limited train to New York usually has 1-2 engines with 2-3 coaches, 1 diner, 2 sleepers, and 1 baggage. The Boston branch usually has 2-3 engines with 1 sleeper, 1 cafe, and 2-3 coaches. They combine in Albany.

I can't believe it's been 1 year later since i viewed this & still a treat to watch. As a scale modeler I did spot some interesting Amtrak fleets. The Baggage cars, Viewliners & cab control ( ex Metroliners) KATO announced the Baggage cars in HO they already released them in N scale. The Viewliners : WALTHERS had them a few years earlier unfortunately they discontinued them (?) However there have been a demand & request ATHEARN (HO) has been approached by many viewers of their websites, social media & channels. My favorite & last but not least: Cab control. Very rare on the Hudson Lines. WALTHERS (HO) released these sold separately & sets(?) in their pointless arrow scheme when they started service. As they were overhauled & transferred to other AMTRAK lines in The U.S. they went through a lot of paint schemes I want to see them all made this last one in this video caught my eyes! Awesome! Loved watching again always! 👍👋

What a great video. Nice camera, very clear. I never saw a metroliner cab car with those decals on it. I assume it is like a private car. I noticed the headlights were covered with just the red taillights exposed. I don't think that metroliner is a control car. Very interesting, I might duplicate one for HO scale. I already made a cab car with yellow stripes. Unfortunately, there are a few kinds of Amtrak prototypes the manufacturers do not make or at least at the moment.

@@SuperStarRendon I didn't realize Metroliners were still around. I thought they disappeared years ago. I used to ride them as the high speed train between NY and DC before the Acelas. The engineer was in the front of the lead passenger car just like cab cars today. On one trip, the engineer left the front door open between the passenger compartment and the engineer's compartment. I could stand in the front of the passenger car almost into the engineer's compartment and watch out the front of the train on the way to DC. He didn't seem to mind me being there at all and for me it was essentially a real cab ride at 125 mph.

@@SusanPauline365 most crossing bells in the United states continue going on the entire time. Only in some parts of the northeast they go off when lowered. Whatever part of the US your in, there will be different crossings. For example, in Florida most crossing bells once lowered turn off. Then once they raise they start dinging again. Crossing bells are different.
