Amsterdam 7 hour Layover | Is it enough time?

We had an early morning layover in Amsterdam on Saturday, March 5th 2022. We landed at 7am and arrived in the city by 8:30am. Thing don't really open until 10am but we still had a good time walking around, it was quite chilly though. A 7 hour layover means you have about 3-4hrs in the city. We were nervous on whether we would be allowed to go out because of Covid but they were pretty chill! Hope you enjoy!

    Hi there, thank you for this video - it is perfect for my upcoming travel/research. Quick question - I will be flying from Chicago - Amsterdam - Delhi, and have a similar 7 hour layover. When you get off in Amsterdam and exit the airport, do you need to get your luggage out as well? I wouldnt think so since it should be checked through to the final Destination (Delhi) - but just confirming. Thank you!

  • @sheebachats

    @sheebachats

    5 ай бұрын

    Hello, typically it should be checked in all the way to your final destination however they should let you know when you check your bags in Chicago or you can ask them. Let’s say for some reason you do need to collect your bags in Amsterdam (which most likely won’t be the case) you can store even the large luggage in the airport, it may be a little bit more but not expensive

    Great Video. Thanks for sharing! So when you returned to the airport for you flight, did you need to take another COVID test? My wife and I have a 6 hour layover in Amsterdam and just curious if that is something we will need to be dealing with if we go into the city.

    Thank you. That was the same thing I was wondering when I went and we did not need to take a Covid test to renter Schipnol. Before I headed out into the city I asked the immigration officer and they said we did not need to. Also, they were really relaxed in all things COVID- just asked for our health declaration form.

    We are going to be having a 14-hour layover in Amsterdam here in a couple months so we are looking at doing the same thing and popping into town for awhile. We are wondering how the locker situation works at the airport. Are the lockers inside the secured area where you don't have to take them back through security when you come back?

    Yes we had one checked bag. When you check in in the US the flight agent will let you know that your bags will be taken to the final destination so no need to get them in Amsterdam (you actually won’t be able to). If you have any questions, you can ask the agent checking you in. Hope you have an awesome trip- don’t hesitate to ask if you have any more questions!
