AMSOIL Oil Filters - Why are they better??

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I explain the AMSOIL EA Oil Filters we sell in our shop and why they lead the industry. I did forget to mention that other companies make this exact filter for non-passenger car and light truck use so AMSOIL fills the void in this and the enthusiast market.

I use both the EA15K02 (cartridge style) and the EA15K32(regular style) both have been extremely good. I get them for dealer cost so they're only about $11-$12 each. I've had good luck with Wix XP, NAPA Platinum, and Mobil 1. All are very good filters, however the Mobil 1 filter runs $18.99 and on the standard filters the Amsoil filters are noticeably heavier. Also, I don't see why people go with the XL or OR oil, for the money and performance you might as well get Mobil 1 at Wal-mart on sale for $21-$22 a jug

Thanks - Yes I understand. Walmart Mobil 1 is different than Mobil 1 at other stores. There are 80 different Group III quality levels. But XL and OE are for local customers or those who do service work so it was never really intended for online sales. Also in October they will be all different. OE and XL will be 100% synthetic and 1-year for XL. They will out perform Mobil 1 on the Dexos Gen 2 test by three times which means avoiding LSPI in new GDI/Turbo engines. Soon AMSOIL will be the only choice for those who don't want to be stuck at the intersection after an oil change - new engines are coming and our oil will be ready!!

I use the EA017 filter and change it at every 5000 mile oil change interval on my 2015 GMC L83 5.3L Sierra religiously. I saw the 25K warranty so I skipped a filter swap until the second oil change when the filter had 10K miles on it and it didn't hurt the engine but it was under a year since I drive it a lot. I'm guessing I could have gotten up to 25K before another filter swap. I'm hoping for 250K-350K plus service miles but it has the dreaded AFM DOD lifter system on it so we'll see. My '96 3.8L Camaro had 377K on Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W30 with a WIX filter until I sold it to make room for my 2002 SLP SS 5.7L Camaro which uses Amsoil. I trust Amsoil products. Thanks for the video reassurance. Looking for that PI fuel additive that does better than Seafoam.

should I use your small engine oil for my Tripac APU unit on my big rig, and also do y'all sell a long life filter for my truck Tripac APU? If so please tell me where I can order or get that filter, and if y'all don't make long lasting amsoil filters for Big Rig APU units can I suggest that you start making them because it would save us Owner Operators who own APU's alot of downtime and money by only having to change oil every two years vs once every 6 months. trust me companies and owner operators will buy them if y'all start making long lasting filters to go along with whatever amsoil oil you recommend to put in APU units. But you will have to advertise and market to truckers so that we know y'all sell that particular filter that will help us go years between an oil change. I pay $150 every 6 months to change oil. thanks

Every filter filters 20 microns and below. Just at different percentages. Yes - Donaldson makes them at 15 micron absolute (98%) but that adds a lot of liability. Ours were 15 micron absolute in the beginning and corporate did replace a lot of engines. (Toyotas in particular because they had another factory problem creating a grey area so AMSOIL took the high road and replaced their engines on any claim regarding that filter at the time). I bought about 100 of those filters at the time and still use them on my Corvairs with a special oil filter adapter.

You'll most likely have to order online like I have too, if you pay $20.00/year at amsoil's website you can but it wholesale and save 25% on filters and oils. I put the 15,000 mile filter on my Impala and change it all on the 15,000 mile interval with amsoil 5W30 and substitute a quart of Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer for a quart of Amsoil. I have a 4 quart capacity so I put 3 qts amsoil, and a 1 quart bottle of the Synthetic Stabilizer. I only have to change it once a year and I've owned the car since new when I bought it on July 16th 2004. Runs like new with 73,000 miles. It's really worth the wait to just have it shipped to you if you want the ams filter, I think it's worth it since you can go the extra mileage compared to the filters you get at the auto parts store which are pretty much done a 5,000 miles.

They clearly state on the box and website that the extended service life (15K or 20K) is only with AMSOIL products. As they haven't tested them with other brands. But they will match Mobil 1's interval. Note that these filters are 1-year regardless of the mileage.

Can't find them anymore but AC DELCO plus protected down to 5 to 10 microns at 99.8% twice to four times better filtration. But with any filters or oil, don't go 25,000 miles. YIKES. Use synthetic oils and change at 5 to 10k miles depending on city or highway miles. BTW how long a filter lasts doesn't make it a better filter.

  • @Syntheticwarehouse

    @Syntheticwarehouse

    5 жыл бұрын

Impossible to be 99% at 5 to 10 microns on a full flow without totally clogging before the end of an interval. All filters remove down to 1 micron but at various percentages. It's not how long a filter lasts, it's how long it can go and still protect at the advertised rate.

Actually due to shortages AMSOIL as of mid December had to get others to manufacture parts to their specs so again it's totally different but based on what you are stating that is not true because all of those filters you mention have different data on the box. Amsoil is 99% at 20 microns, K&N is 25 microns and so on.. So why the different data? Did you analyze them on a electronic microscope? That's the only way you can tell the difference. That and sit in on the board meetings. Cut open a EAO99 - completely different parts.

First of all you get what you pay for. Odds are if it cost more it just may be better as it’s more expensive to manufacture it but it’s up to you to look into that and verify it. Secondly don’t trust someone else to tell you what’s good for your vehicle. Know it and why yourself. Example cummins makes the filters for my Ram and mopar slaps there name on it now. I had a Cummins part tech tell me cummins has a filter that is cheaper that most people buy. So I asked him what’s the difference between the more expensive mopar and the cheaper fleetguard he couldn’t answer. So then I asked him what’s the difference between the comparably priced Cummins Fleetguard and the Cheaper one. He didn’t know a Cummins part Tech. So I told him mopar oil filter which is made by Fleetguard has the synthetic nanomesh fiber that efficiently filters down to 20 microns under full flow same as the comparably priced Fleetguard filter not the cheaper Fleetguard filter he tried to sell me that they put on 6.7’s in school buses commercial heayduty trucks or farm tractors. Now when I cut the new mopar brand filter for my Cummins it looks exactly like the Amsoil filter construction. So you get what you pay for only if you make it a point to verify manufacturers claims.

Amsoil and Royal Purple are the same exact oil filter and inferior to a K & N oil filter. K & N oil filters utilize a celluous element, which permits faster oil flow through the said element. Plus, K & N oil filters are superior in construction, in every spectrum, to the aforementioned. Amsoil motor oil(group IV, 100% synthetic, plus outstanding additives), K & N oil filters and K & N air filters supersede the competition, everytime. WIX oil filters, sufficient. Redline (Group V, 100% synthetic) motor oil is decent, too. But with more drain intervals. K & N and WIX said oil filters utilize a coiled bypass spring, instead of the inferior/cheaper stamped steel bypass spring utilized on Fram, Amsoil and RP. WIX and K & N oil filters incorporate 8 and 6 inlet holes, respectively.

  • @Syntheticwarehouse

Total nonsense. The facts are in the data sheets at K&N and RP. .RP is a totally different company they were just a couple years ago and they publish the filters at 99% at 25 micron. AMSOIL is 20 and was 15. What are the K&N? They are about 85% at 20 micron. Typical for synthetic cellulose. The same synthetic cellulose AMSOIL used to use. Not to mention the AMSOIL filter is updated yearly. AMSOIL buys parts from several firms too always get the best combination. Actually K&N just like AMSOIL utilizes all types of springs based on specific needs of the manufacture. The base of the filter is also key but the AMSOIL filter is designed for enthusiasts who believe they push their vehicles so nothing is left off of the table. K&N's airfilters are not adequate for long engine life and 1/2 of their containers even mark for "Racing only" It's no secrete the issues of K&N Air filters. You can see light right through them. the AMSOIL air filter is Donaldson's Blue series - again the flow and capacity data as well as filtration data is available and are OK by OTR OEM's .

No, K&N isn't better. Bleepin Jeep did a video where he dissected filters. You only want the cellulose setup in a racing capacity. SLowing down the oil flow in the filter by using synthetic increases pressure which also increases filtration. K&N now manufactures their filters in Mexico and the pleats are uneven which causes uneven filtration. Oil will flow where there is the least amount of resistance (less resistance is also less filtration). Wix XP, RP and AmsOil appear to be the best in my opinion. The best thing anyone can do is use one of these three, and on top of that add magnets to the outside of the body of the oil filters to pick up ALL metallic micron particles that the oil filter won't catch. I've seen both neodymium and ceramics used (on KZread) successfully. Take your pick. The filters might not catch anything below 15 microns, but the magnets will (if it's metal).

Do not buy these oil filters. I looked inside of mine for a 4-cylinder and a v6 (same filter). Since I run Amsoil oil, I thought why not. After looking at it and looking down the center tube, I found a shard of metal still hanging in the tube. This is on the inside. If this would have broken off, it would have gone directly to the pump. Amsoil did replace 2 of them. Just imagine what would have happened. For $18, there is no way this filter should have such poor quality. I looked at Royal Purple. They are made almost the same on the inside (perforated tubing). I hear they use a different type of material. I looked on the Amsoil web site and I see they also carry WIX filters. I wonder why. Either look at it or don't buy. The Amsoil oil is still the best especially when you get down to the 0 grade.

Oil's overpriced when you change at 3000 miles too. But when you buy our OE (OEM interval 5000 to 10,000) mile oil which is generally under $6, we expect the customer to use any filter of their choice. That is the oil that we offer to lube centers, retail shops, etc.
