The Otto 11 11 11 really doesn't get enough love

My most used sim tbh, I prefer it over TH-U, Guitar Rig, and Bias for just getting into and playing

It takes a few seconds of riffing on that plugin to know it's possibly the best amp sim for all things riffage 😅😅😅

There is something "quickly gets boring" about it.. I mean it sounded great for a while, but since I found NAM for free, I never opened II II. The iLok manager is also a buggy bloatware, sadly some plugins use it. (I think some already threw it away thank god). So anyway, I feel some regrets about buying the Otto.

@spyware1100 I still love it and would never get rid of it! But I will say now im loving that new Bogren MLC too! The MLC would be super high up on this list for me!

Absolutely. If you're wanting to play some REAL extreme, evil, blasting raunch, this is it. Im an old guy, and just got into sims the past 3 years. My biggest takeaway is the modern metal tones are pretty sterile. Like Boston/Tom Scholz with some saturation...lol. 🤷♂️
Amped Roots was the first time I'd ever heard an amp sim that properly captured the tightness and low resonance of a real amp cab in the room. I use ML Sound Lab stuff exclusively, the ML5 in particular is extremely versatile. I still use Guitar Rig 5 for effects, particularly delay which I love, but I haven't used it for any amp stuff in ages.
Archetype Gojira and Nolly are probably my favorite. Nolly is basically your one stop shop amp sim, amazing cleans, a Marshall, a 5150, and Kraken for leads and all your basic pedals you need. Gojira is similar in that sense, but I really dig the 5150 stealth, probably the best 5150 plug-in I’ve used

@@spectre5022 Yea, so It's REALLY making me debate it. I get it's got a stealth, but it's not that different as far as I can tell.
Honestly, the TH-U Rig Player is by far the best feel of any amp sim out there. They are supposed to be kemper profiles that they managed to 'break'. The choptones packs are insane. The whole plugin is so well balanced, low latency, and easy of cpu that I do not know why people doesn't talk much about it. IK new TONEX is also pretty good, I'm using just the free one, so I can download up to 20 captures of amps from the community, but nothing compares the feeling of a TH-U Rig Player capture.
Man it is so hard to dislike you Ray. Your vibes are dope. This is great content, I really wanna try the Omnyss and I agree with Tone Hub.

I tried the omnyss but felt the same thing as i do with the Will Putney. It sounds spongy to me like you don’t get the same attack as you do from Neural plugins. Sometimes I kind of think Neural puts a slight compression on their amps to make them feel more in your face like standing in front of the amp.
Haven't finished the video yet, but this is what I'd be more interested in haha I love Amp Sim content, in every possible channel. Thanks for the vid!
I’ve had THU for so long and just realized how amazing it is. Super slept on
Yeah, dude I was looking for an upgrade from my FreeST stuff. I was using the Amped Roots Fluff and these past few days I've been going through a couple of the ones I saw listed here in God Tier and the OTTO 1111. And hands down the nastiest and best rhythm and lead tones are coming outta the Andy James STL. So thanks for the rec, that's the one I'm gunna go with. Keep up the good work bro \m/
Yes dude! As soon as I saw that T2 I knew it would be the THU, I’m so glad you put it in God Tier because that plugin is so good! I don’t even open Neural stuff anymore!
I agree 100% with the "archetype" thing, however I bought the SOLDANO SLO amp sim, and fell in love instantly.... keep up the good work!
Cool video man! Really helps to choose plugins when just starting to get into recording. Other question, when will the solar arrive?
Love STL Tone Hub. Incredibly realistic tones, but yes, the interface could improve. OTTO 11 11 11 is superb in it's versatility.
TH-U is fantastic and so full of features. Blending amps and cabs, changing tubes on the amps, using a variac, just an insane amount of options. Love it! Also, hard to beat Amped Roots. The 2.0 update made an already epic plug-in even better, can’t say enough good things about it.

100% agree w/TH-U. Out of the box it's fantastic and covers a huge range of tones. However, if you're looking for something specific just grab one of the exceptional Choptones rigs. My go to is the Choptones Pivy 65 for crushing chugs and searing leads.

@@wasoota this is by far the most annoying thing ever. Ik with Amplitube 5 figured out how to get it all on one screen, organized well, I so let's hope Overloud takes a page from them and makes an updated THU. Also would be awesome if TH-U gets it's own AI profiler that's backwards compatible with the Rig Player models.
I fill like everyone misses softube amp room. I love their Marshall plugins. They nail that Marshall sound
I’ve invested heavily into Positive Grid products, I use it with either my Boss Katana or Dual Cube, gives me such a versatile practice rig to take on the road with me when I’m travelling for work. And that latest release, to me is godlike. I love it.
Got yoursel a sub👊🏼🇺🇸👊🏼 love the upbeat attitude. Just installed Andy James Tonality. Was one of his first subs
The old Lepou/Poulin stuff, Ignite Amps and Amplitube Metal were my high school years! Nowadays, I mostly play Mikko’s stuff (I still also bust out Amplitube every now and again).
Wait, the Pettrucci has the doubler, the mic room option for the cab section, both of these feature shouldn't be ignored bro
Amped Roots Fluff is one of the first sims Ive ever used, and it is so sick, I totally love it. I started with the free version and bought the whole thing.

You know I've been playing the Randall T2 in Overloud for probably 3 or 4 years, and I gotta say, I've compared it to other amp sims, even newer ones, and you're right man, T2 is a God-tier ampsim. I'm not even trying to blow smoke up Randall or Overloud's ass. Its just a really good amp sim. It takes pedals well too without turning into static mush. Its really awesome. It gives you a really shapable sound. I like the fact that in Overloud you can run a splitter and run 2 of those motherfuckers in the same track.
i have been using the petrucci simp for more than 6 months, spent a lot of time trying to create my unique sounds after hundreds of hours thinking just like an engineer sound and not like a guitar player, i've managed to capture 3 different presets and the trick to get good sounds from the petrucci is to play alongside with the microphones pairing and on top of that you have to be PRECISE on which place you are gonna place the mics on the cab
Hey man, love your vids! Is there any point to get one of these when you own an Axe iii? Thanks ;)

No Otto Audio? Or Mercuriall? Audio Assault? Man, leaving out three of the best devs. Those three make my favourite amp sims. MLs new 2C amp is also one I like a lot.
I'd really like to see where the new open source (free) Neural Amp Modeler slots in on this hierarchy. The interface is primitive, but man there are a lot of awesome community submitted captured amps at different settings. Still need to use a separate IR interface tho.
100% agree with the Abasi placement. I do like the cleans and effects, but nothing else suits my needs or wants.
Ray with the Bengals jersey 🔥 my boy ✊
I really like the Audio Assault RVXX and Hellbeast.
Only plug-in I have that I use is the Gojira one. I really like it. I have been thinking about buying the AmpKnob plug-in because I think it sounds good and the ease and quickness of getting a good tone is appealing to me.
Where would you have put the Gojira amp sim?
Totally agree on Neural DSP. GREAT sounding plugins, but too much of the same. Each latest Archetype would be God Tier if you never owned a Neural Archetype before. At least with Cory/Tim/Bea, they all seem to be quite different. Since everything went on sale, I went back to check on my amp sim plugin collection and have found the Nembrini stuff to quite good as well. It's interesting, Helix Native is my bread and butter since I own a Helix LT, but I don't find it so good for fiddling and trying out things on an amp. It's not an "amp-like experience" -- for example the Cali MKIV is split into separate models, one per channel. The sounds are generally great, but you are getting one-channel at a time unless you do some fancy work multi amp switching. What I get in other plugins by contrast is an amp panel with all the amp channels modeled. I can switch to the clean of that amp with a click, have rhythm/lead separate etc.
If you like synth sounds have you ever tried MIDI Guitar 2 in combination with a synth? It lets you stack guitar and VST plugin sounds and, as the name implies, converts your guitar input to midi in real time with little to no latency.
Mercuriall is sick! And they do similar thing as amphub, you can buy different amps and build your rig, but unfortunately not many options are available at the moment. But I love ENGL e530 sim from them 🤘🤘🤘 with IRs from STL Will Putney it is so aggressive and nasty!!! 👊👊👊 And totally agree about Neural DSP, to many repetitive clones with one extra feature in every new plugin 🤷🏻♂️
STL Tones Bogart (Uberschall) I love that thing and the new Ignite NRR-X model is great too. the Nembrini 8180 and their Xtsasy models are awesome too.
the Mike Stringer sim is insane. just tried the demo 2 days ago. pretty sure Im gonna buy it.
With Neural Abasi I have to agree cause there are definitely better plugins around and of top of that it's not that easy to tweak. But on the other hand I think that Petrucci's plugin is mind blowing and packed with amazing, universal tones. Rabea's plugin is amazing as well 👍🏻
STL tones Andy James is awesome. gr8 choice.
Just gonna gloss over that JST Mansoor debacle, hey? Haha. Probably a good call to be honest.

Check out the Audio Assult Classic series. That sim is god tier.
I´ve gotta say that I'm a STL fangirl xD Also, I guess that our opinions can differ a little bit as you are a metal guitarist and I'm more a pop punk one. Anyway, great video and awesome amp sims!
I use the fluff plug in and it's the best I've tried so far, but I'm struggling to get clarity in my recordings. Got any tips to remedy this? I'm new to the whole recording thing
I used to use Guitar Rig 5 and Amplitube 3 with a HUGE list of custom amp impulses I found online. My chain was something like Input -> GR5's Gate and Noise Reduction -> Amplitube's Amp Heads -> Fl Studio's Patcher with 2 instances of Convolver in parallel, each holding a different Cabinet impulse. That machine fried and I lost years of work. Now I'm looking into getting back into it, but there's so much software to choose from and I'm familiar with very little of it. Thankfully I did keep my giant folder of impulses, although outdated at this point.

Hey thanks so much
Neural started in deep with prog guys, hence so many of the similar plugins, at the same time that their focus was clearly on Quad Cortex development for a few years there. They seem to be really be working towards newer features and sounds with each release. I own Petrucci, Henson and the Mesa Boogie Suite and they all have individual things I enjoy and would use, and if Neural ever figures out a way to use them together or in conjunction, which is rumored, then it will be even better. I'll probably buy Cory Wong and the Morgan Suite at some point, but yeah, they don't seem to be the jack of all trades sims, but the target a specific sound with each.
TH-U has a few Randall amps in there, I am curious to which one you liked the best.
STL ToneHub's Colin Richardson Pack has some AWESOME SLIPKNOT TONES.....just FYI Ray. I own the STL Lasse Lambert it has a Diezel Herbert and its awesome but my favorite has to be Neural DSP's take on the Soldano SLO-100....I own it and it is amazing
You should do a drum plugin tier and MIDI packs

So many amp plugins... and I have tons of them and they all do their part. But, been enjoying the Metallurgy Doom from Line 6. Fun sim for doomy tones.
Hey what is that black crate with silver lining behind you called?
I used Guitar Rig 5 from Native Instruments (specifically the Richard Z signature amp) for the last 11 years. It's obviously pretty dated at this point, so I finally picked up NeuralDSP Petrucci two days ago. I understand the "NeuralDSP saturation" feeling, and can see how it doesn't necessarily offer any particular novelty over the rest. I bought it because (1) Mesas are just my favourite amps, (2) I don't own an amp and I'm not going to buy a bunch of plugins - I just want one complete package to use for the next 10 years lol. The rhythm amp has been really nice, getting some much needed tightness and articulation out of the low-end on my 7 string (courtesy of the bite switch and the tight knob). Aside from the amazing tones, I like that it has a doubler built in - just adds some more spice to practicing (I used the stereo delay in Guitar Rig for the same purpose). The transpose feature is also a big deal for me. Between my Strat in E/drop D and my 7 string in B/drop A, I can access soooo many different tunings. No need for retuning, crazy string gauges, or even multiple guitars in different tunings. I'm really looking forward to trying it out in a mix!

I also pulled the trigger on the Petrucci yesterday, I saw the 50% discount and jumped right into it after testing it, I love all the high gain tones but I mostly practice clean cause I get fatigued with the high gain stuff pretty fast and that piezo amp sounds really cool, im kinda new at guitar and i dont have any amps so I hope it pays off

Honestly bro im just an average dick whose opinions dont matter, but I was really impressed with Gojira. Insanely heavy tones. Petrucci is definitely more versatile, has presets by Mateus Asato and Kiko Loureiro. More solid crunch/clean tones, great harmonizer, awesome phaser effects. Either way, you cant go wrong.
thanks, now i think i know what imma go for
One thing that boosts the Petrucci to god tier for me is the acoustic amp, especially when it's paired with a piezo pickup. I know it's pretty niche, but I haven't found anything that comes even close to this for this very special use case.
@jimmymeinhart4265
Жыл бұрын
It's excels at all the weird things, and is more versatile than most sims while remaining very good at everything, unlike other extensive plugins which are just average at a lot of things but not great at any. I'm not the biggest fan of the amps, Although they have their time and place. The acoustic amp, the pitch shifter (at the time... now a few of neural plugins have it), the guitar doubler, and all the effects are unmatched in my opinion. If I was stuck on an island with one plugin for the rest of my life I'd choose JP. Whatever I do, my DAW usually has at least one instance of it running.
Here's a freeware tip, courtesy of Abel Hernandez (look him up on KZread), All Ignite Amps, free: Tyrant Screamer + Pro F.E.T. + NadIR + The Beast IR response. Great metal sound. Enjoy!

Interesting article... However. All the amp portions of these sims basically sound the (like 90% the same)... It's the IR that makes the sound difference... and the additional feature (e.g. transpose function) that make the package standout...

Honestly think if neural dsp just did a mark series instead of petrucci with different versions of the mark amps it would’ve appealed to more and would’ve been way cooler. Especially considering there’s only mediocre mark modeled amps out there. The initial neural dsp amps really appealed to me initially for being models of rare amps like the meshuggah, and granophyre. Now it’s just giving every single prog or internet sensation a plug-in. Hope they go back to their roots. Give us some unique amps like a wizard or Fryette.
